Anyone having an issue with the XMB sounds? After I update I'm not getting any sounds on the XMB (I have key tone set to on) or the sound preview when you highlight a game and the animation plays). And I tried different themes and it doesn't matter. I even went and check the sound settings to see if it messed with it and it didn't..

Ugh, I hate firmware updates..

I wonder why Sony waits so late to put it up. Right now is when traffic is probably highest for PSN... midday or early morning would be much better.

So I'm usually not a total hater on Sony because I know they're trying hard but they really sucked on this one. I just finished working on doing all my stuff to be ready for tomorrow and I thought it would be sweet to play some Uncharted 2 online. Turn on my PS3 and it says I need to update. No biggie I think, I'll go brush my teeth while it does that. I've come back and 10 minutes have passed and its at 13% for downloading.

For an update that adds fucking Facebook and other stupid things, it sure did ruin my ability to play fucking games tonight.

I got 3.10, but can't find the Facebook icon. What am I doing wrong?

Edit: Never mind I see all you can do is set those options under your account settings. I did that. Was under the impression there would be an app launch like on the 360.

its kinda hidden.. under account management i think.. i was expecting a little more like the 360 app but it mostly just posts etc

is there any game that supports it? I figured uncharted 2 would but nothing happenned when i earned a trophy

edit- well it did post to fb. I didnt prompt or anything..guess if you put yes in the account management it doesnt prompt.
How do you change the color of your tab?
Go to your profile in the Users list; you'll see a some colored squares next to your Avatar in the upper left-hand corner. Select it and select a color.

You get nine fancy colors (I think it's nine).

Thanks!

So having a launch 60Gb model and doing every firmware update the day it comes out, I had my first major issue this morning.

Everything went fine last night downloading and installing and I even played some for about 5 hours after downloading and installing the new firmware.

Got up this morning and when I tried to turn on the PS3 nothing showed up on the screen. The monitor verified the HDMI connection was there, but there was no sound or picture. Turned off the PS3 and then back on and had to run through the entire system setup again. It wasn't like when you hold the button down to turn it on to reset the video and sound, I had to redo everything including network connection and such.

It also went through the process of restoring my User Accounts from the Hard Drive and all my saved User Account information was gone and had to be re-established.

Now that I have everything up and running again, I've tried turning it off and back on a few times and everything seems fine.

The bigger FU is that none of my Gameshare games are working anymore due to invalid copyright :hot:.

It could be coincidence, but I have never had a single issue with my system until this morning.

Edit: Deactivating and reactivating the system seemed to solve the Gameshare issue.

After getting everything set back to normal I haven't had the issue any more. Went out for a bit and checked when I got home and everything is still working.

As I said it could very well have just been a coincidence but I just though I would post in case anyone else had anything similar happen.
This update better not wipe out any shit I have on my HDD such as saves or anything or I'm gonna be very pissed off(moreso than usual).
Back up your PS3 in case anything happens.I updated mine yesterday and works fine.

Easier said than done. I have a maybe 2gb flash drive and the last time I tried doing a backup it said I needed 3-4 or so.
Oh well, might as well get it over with here and now.
That was my mentality with this update. It didn't take as long as usual, so maybe Sony is listening on one front anyway. I only turned my system on to see who was on, but then I remembered everyone saying it was live last night, so I knew I'd have to update now.

I hoped the "improvments" to the web browser would have made it better..... guess not. At the very least they could have made it so facebook worked.

OK....I just had my first issue since FW 3.10. My controller wouldn't sync up with the PS3 and I had to reset it and plug in the controller via the USB cable to get it to sync up right.

So, I'm not the only one? I thought it was because my controllers died of battery, but they were full on power last I had my ps3 earlier today.

I had to connect it via the USB cable as well for it to sync up right. I have two controllers and neither one would sync up without a USB cable.

I have a 20GB launch and you just provoked me into backing up my system. It's taken about 2 hours but if it means I avoid anything like what you experienced, it's worth it.

I'm a cheap SOB though, so the thought of buying anything else to backup something that should have a 'restore to an earlier date' feature since it's an overglorified computer is ridiculous.

I don't even use the flash drive as it is. If they weren't so cheap, I'd probably sell the damn thing.

Update, seemed like it was a bug or something, restarted my ps3 and everything went back to being fine and dandy.

How long do you hold the button down to reset the video and sound? I think I need to do this too but I forgot what button you hold and for how long.

I still haven't updated and plan to complain until this updating crap stops. We don't want this garbage, just let us play the games or they can lose our business. I quit the PSP a couple years ago because of the update abuse. Will my PS3 also suffer the same way? I don't like buying games that don't work out of the box.

I used to like Sony but they've made a LOT of bad decisions this gen. M$ can't make a smart move to save their lives. Nin is holding steady thankfully but I always hope they can release more games.

What useless complaining. But looking at your post history, this falls inline with your usefulness.

Upgraded to 3.10 and it worked flawlessly. Jumped into the battlefield beta right after and played a few games, everything is just dandy.

C'mon people, wouldn't you rather have a firmware update than have to buy a new console?!

Granted they're not doing anything spectacular with this update, but many of you people had a cow over the color of the friends list. They fixed it and now you're having a cow that they fixed it? This update is safe, start the download on your PC and play games locally until it's finished.

Sony needs a changelog to show all the hidden stuff that's in there that you we don't know about (i.e., security fixes, bug fixes, etc.). At least they're supporting the system with regular updates instead of letting the thing rot.

Yeah, I am still in the camp of wanting small updates instead of waiting for a large one once or twice a year.

I like that they now have the report error feature. I think the thing needs a temp gauge too.

Temp gauge would be friggin hilarious. Although admittedly, maybe the competition needs that more lol.

I'll cautiously wait for the dust to settle before updating. My 160GB didn't exhibit any issues with the 3.01 FW in order to play Ratchet and Clank: CIT and access PSN.

Big MEH for Facebook addition. As if.

I like the colors for the profiles.. but damn... how about some new profile pics, or if you aren't going to add profile pics, then set it up for custom profile pics...
