I refuse to watch the film. 3D is not the future.
Yep.

Looking at movie times for the new 'Alice' shows me it's just a gimmick to bleed more cash from the masses. My local theatre has it on 3 or 4 screens, but only one is non 3D, and it doesn't start showing until the early discount time is over.
I hope the new 3D tvs and channels go under in the Summer and Fall. I don't want to sit at home in those damn glasses just to watch tv.
I dunno. The guy on the left looks pretty cool.
This is such bullshit, spring break finally starts and i get sick.
My spring break has been spent intermittently grading papers, if that makes you feel any better.
Have you even seen Avatar? There is no denying how awesome the 3D is when you see it in IMAX. The movie may not be great, but the visual effects are stunning and are such a leap forward that it has basically created a whole market for 3D devices. If Avatar didn't do as much business as it has studios wouldn't be turning movies into 3D, Television companies wouldn't be making 3D displays, and Blu Ray players wouldn't be updating their specs to include it.

Every other 3D movie that came before Avatar was shit. It was a cheap gimmick that was hokey. Avatar made you immersed in the world with its 3D.
That's kind of absurd. The only people that should really be happy about this are those who have some sort of financial stake in ticket sales. No one can deny Avatar's financial and technical success and that that movie is why there are so many 3D screens now but why should any of us give a shit about it? Initially I thought it was a good thing because even if the movie was kind of shitty, Fox took a big chance with Avatar and it paid off so maybe it would lead to them and other studios taking risks in the future. It seems that instead the industry is just moving all their standard retarded blockbuster movies over to 3D whether they need it or not because that's where they think the money is. Maybe it's just me, but the idea that going from 2D to 3D is like going from silent films to talkies or from black and white to color is really offensive. Even Avatar in Imax 3D felt like little more than a novelty to me. I mean, it was cool that the screen was so far away and then when you put your glasses on it magically seems like it's way closer but that was the biggest thing. The way it played with the depth of field wasn't really that important or substantial to my experience. If anything it was mildly uncomfortable feeling a slight sensation of being cross-eyed for nearly 3 hours.

All that being said, I personally think "Dancing With Smurfs" and all the animosity that comes with that is a bit harsh. It was a decent action movie that was way ahead of the standard garbage like 2012 and Transformers. Some of the CGI, like the planet and the facial features and skin of the avatars/navi, was particularly impressive even if I found the blu cat people design to be really lame. I just think that at the end of the day I can't really give a shit about the Avatar phenomenon and all its technical achievements when the final product doesn't even compare on an artistic level to Moon, which had a budget of 5 million dollars versus the former's budget of 300 to 500 million dollars. I also think it's really embarrassing that Avatar is the film being put on the pedestal this year instead of something truly bold like Inglourious Basterds.
Finally got North by Northwest from Netflix after waiting forever. It was worth it though. I don't know why I didn't just buy it when it came out on Blu anyways.
Yeah, I've had it on my queue since it came out last fall and they finally sent it to me a week or two ago. It might be an unfair or unwarranted comparison but I thought it was a better, more interesting James Bond type movie than any Bond that I've ever seen. I hope more classic titles get that kind of treatment when they hit Blu-ray. Not only does the restoration look fantastic but there are a couple of documentaries on the disc that add up to 3 or 4 hours of content.

I'm BigSpoonyBard, and I approve this message.

Cameron used to innovate and make good movies at the same time. Terminator 2 had cutting edge CGI at the time, but it was also a great movie.
hey tfn how do you know those dudes from last night?
I don't, I only knew Willie, Silas, and Luis. I know Willie cause he used to smoke crack, stole a bong I was taking care of from a friend's house, broke it, and I made him pay me a Franklin for it. I went to middle school with Silas, and I met Luis through his older brother back in middle school/high school. That dudes place smelled like he peed in the corners of his room.

Yea it smelled funny. That dude Willie got really drunk and i think he tried to kiss me so i left.
things heated up when you left. someone initiated a fight and also they played a lot of StepMania.

Say someone came up to you and said I'll pay you to transfer some data between workstations.

What questions would you ask that person before doing this?

I have the following, but could use some other thoughts:
What kind of data?
Who/What uses this data (people/programs)?
Estimated size of data?
How soon does the data need to be transferred?
Yea it smelled funny. That dude Willie got really drunk and i think he tried to kiss me so i left.
That guy is bad news, man. Real bad news.

I didn't go out last night because one of our "friends" (the one I haven't seen in months but now that his gf broke up with him he wants to come around all the time) wanted to hang out and I knew he would either cry or get really drunk. He did both.

This morning I got my hair cut and went to my grandparents after my grandma had a heart attack last week. She's home and doing fine, apparently it was a really weak heart attack that just made her uncomfortable.

Just got a letter from ODU about my financial aid for next year. I'm getting an extra $4000 a year in grants from VA that I have never gotten before, on top of my federal grants and student loans. Pretty sweet. Drinks are on the state tomorrow!

Bayonetta is definetly a mash-up of Ninja Gaiden/God of War/Devil May cry. The combos are endless, but I feel like I'm just mashing buttons. Pretty fun to play so far.

I won the Prepared Speech competition at the state level. I am going to nationals in June. Quiz Bowl was the next contest they were announcing the winners of.

I don't know what channel I had on last night, but they had some dude from the E! network and some woman on, and both of them agreed that Avatar was going to win Best Picture, because apparently some shit went down with producers of The Hurt Locker emailing the Academy for votes or something.

Either way, the thought of Avatar winning Best Picture makes my brain hurt.
