The Password to GGT 139
Joel said it was like Shank but just as bad. Immediately turned me off.

Now if it's better than Shank, I'm slightly interested again.

I don't' know who to trust.
The combat feels *similar* in that it's very ... slick? The movement is definitely ... slippery. It's like Shank in that regard. However, I find that I'm liking that "grab and drain the blood from enemies when stunned to recharge life", "gun is a one shot kill on some enemies", "more emphasis on platforming already", and "teach me how to launch and kick enemies" aspects of the game.

There's gotta be a demo. Try it out.

Demos are a great way to base opinions. It's how I found out Driver was fun and Space Marine wasn't.

I'll try the demo, but it doesn't sound like a game I'd get unless it was on sale.
Lovin' my new computer setup.... and all the cool kit that goes with that.

Also ordered these:

Are you going to be looking around and nodding while you wear them?

I liked all of that up until Chapter 6 or so. Then it expects you to do the exact same stuff over and over again while leaping across a river of acid and being chased by a giant sawblade. The lack of new combos and the difficulty of some of the platforming parts just soured me on it.
Nintendo is out of control. A giant cradle now?

Wow.
I'm so happy about it. It completely justifies my decision to not get a 3DS with the 20 free games + price matching.

In less than a year there will be one with the analog built in along with a slew of other improvements and I can take the plunge then.

This is pretty much how I feel now. I feel better waiting even after the price drop. I was strongly considering one of the red units as well.
fuck Bloodrayne, why no goddamn mid-chapter checkpoints? ARRRRGH!
Yes there are, they are the fountains that fill with blood when you pass them. They don't save there if you exit the level or turn off the system though.

Also it's 16 chapters, not sure if you saw that as I saw your post yesterday about game length.

It's a pretty good side scrolling hack-n-slash but I'm in the tank for Bloodrayne (bought all 3 games on launch day) so I'm not the best person to judge, but it's the best of the 3 games IMO. Only thing Shank does better is story I think, but this game is 3-times longer than Shank and is replayable to get a better rating and find all the skulls to upgrade your gun capacity and health.

$12 was a decent price for it but I'd advise non-Plus people to wait for $10 or less unless they're big fans of the game style, developer, or the IP.

Save points is what I mean, it's bullshit that I got halfway through a chapter then have to go do something so I turn my system off and come back to the level that I have to go alll the way back through again.

Yeah, someone on gamefaqs told me it was 15 levels, which I thought meant 2 levels per chapter, so I got confused.

I like some things in the game (slick animation), but I hate most of it (especially the goddamn rivers of acid). They should've had more weapons, combos, upgrades, and enemy types. I have no interest whatsoever in replaying it to get a better rating or leveling up my health/ammo since it's so easy to get more of both.

Game is a good buy at $10 or less, anything over that isn't worth it. Shank did everything better, IMO and I liked the original Bloodrayne games better.

Don't need that.

We have the GGT.

It wasn't until the quick look that I found out that Dead Island was an RPG like Borderlands. I had only heard that it was basically first-person Dead Rising with a big focus on melee combat.

Everything I heard about Dead Island was skewed by its announcement trailer that everyone blew their loads over.

I didn't care about the announcement trailer because I knew it had to be something like the Gears 1 Mad World trailer. I love what I've seen in previews and the game's opening, though. I'll probably wait until it hits $30 before I pick it up or whenever the fuck GameFly decides to send it to me.

My favorite part about Dead Island is the wildly varying review scores.

I don't really understand the hype behind it. I'm fucking zombied out.

I'm at that point as well. But the Quicklook really turned me around on it.

I'm not exactly zombied out so long as the games aren't all the same. And from what I've heard, Dead Island zombies aren't the same as other game zombies.

I'm also waiting for it to hit $30 or less. If it does hit that point maybe we could co-op it.

Just played Dead Island for an like 90 minutes. My verdict - it's pretty awful. Glad I rented and didn't purchase.

Slow and boring combat, a very tedious weapon system, a RIDICULOUS amount of pick-ups in every room that slow the pace of the game down considerably, 3 out of the 4 starting characters are lame as hell, a story that is so far non-existent (this could potentially pick-up later), and seemingly nothing but fetch quests for the various NPCs.

I'm sure some people will like it since it does have nice graphics and the gameworld you play in is pretty cool, but I'm really not feelin it at all.

It's like Deadly Premonition... I should probably get back to that game sometime, I was enjoying it.
Sounds like what most people say about Borderlands.
I really liked Borderlands, because it wasn't boring.

I would enjoy Dead Island more if I had people to play with. The game is a terribly slow paced game in the beginning for one player. If I stick with it and grind it out, I can see this as pretty enjoyable.

I am enjoying Dead Island. Then again I paid $34 for it and about $30 or so is what it's worth. It's nothing spectacular (well I mean a triple A game) and is basically if borderlands minus the guns but with more fallout 3 survival packed in.

I was expecting Bloodrayne to be a lot better. I thought it would be something like a 2D Castlevania, instead it turned out to be basically Shank (which I didn't care for much), with more jumping. The game looks nice though. I defiantly like the two older games way better.
