i am pretty sure the PSP version of Ys is a direct port of the PC Ts VI game. the ps2 version was completely redone with 3d graphics, the PSP/PC version is all 2d, so get whichever one you like better.
 
I will but i'm getting untold legends first...eq2 people made it, which amuses me, and i need something to do aside from stare/drool at it in wonder, and Y's won't be out for awhile...

know what i hate tho? people who pronounce it "WHYS"...GAWD i hate that. like nails on a chalkboard...*shakes head*

dracula~ if that's the case i think i'd actually prefer the psp version, although i'm suprised they'd share the same name, how confusing.

I'm sorry I pronounce it whys, Wees sounds like nails across a chalkboard to me. :D

After your PSP comes in you might consider writing a review of the system up in the portable gaming thread, it would be nice to have a few of those around after all the DS hyped up reviews that have been posted in the last several months.

Ew, i wouldn't pronounce it "Wees" either, lol, it sounds like a baby name for pee...(have we reached a limit on the mention of urine in a thread yet?). I've always known it by how the original was introduced to me, which was pronounced "Ease". as for the sub title, 'Naphitsm' i think? no clue. :p

i'm sure i'll be doing a formal review of it once i get my hands on my own(assuming i can put it down eventually). getting a chance to play the import and doing some hw on the abilities totally hyped me up for it. i'm just as sad as the next person to not have a ds, but now i'm glad i didn't get it at launch, since i only want to play warioware and advance wars, and even advance wars i'm wary of (being a huge fan of the gba gameplay).

Well in the game the voice actors say Wees once and Naphitsm son I guess that's how it's suppose to go?

Honestly the DS looks like a deadend gimmick system to me although it would be fun to play touched, whatever advanced wars turns out to be and that animal crossing game I keep hearing rumors about. I just wish the PSP didn't have just a high price tag, for the limited amount of time I use handheld systems the cost just seems staggering to me.

i'm loving the PSP so far, although this morning one of our regulars comes back and his was missing the analog stick O.O (like, eep, bad sony bad) thankfully i was just chillin with mine at the time then came home and watched spiderman 2 and tried to keep the drool off the sweet screenage....some of the little bonuses i didn't even realize till tonight and i've had it since like super early this morning...(i.e. there's a coheed & cambria music video on here, lol!).

as far as price...i don't own an ipod, and i'm planning on buying a camera and taking a couple long trips/flights this summer. now i can coordinate everything, buy a compatible digital camera so i can see my pics on the psp without needing a high-end model camera, and kill two birds with one stone by using the same format for music and random tv/anime episodes (short enough for economic use on memory cards, and all i'd really be interested in putting on there anyway). so even if i'm limited in time that i'm using it (doubtful anyway, because i'm lazy and like to play my sp before bed a lot...sometimes it smacks me in the forehead and i wake up, but that's another story... :oops: ) all in all, for a new system? not bad. especially considering the amazing resolution...i can't even call it 'graphics' when i describe it since the word 'picture' (like you'd describe a television's picture) seems more appropriate. it's not pong for $250. it's not even rehashed 10 year old ports for $250, well, maybe darkstalkers is a throwback, but i couldn't help myself, i love darkstalkers ^^;

Yeah the server is getting upgraded and also changed, hopefully in a couple of weeks every thing will be working even better. XD I've now spent 5 minutes trying to submit this 1 message.

So it sounds like the PSP is going to be used for a number of things by you. How are the games so far? You wrote a lot about the functionality and the games feeling fresh not rehashed, are there any games that stick out so far for you? How about the game prices? Do they seem to be on par with the quality and hours of enjoyment you are getting from them?

And Phrostbyte I really don't think your problems can be solved via a consulor, in fact all you really seem to need is someone to boss you around. :lol:

:( mayhaps someone should change the name of the thread again to something else?....hope you feel better, as someone who's been to the same school and visited there once, i'd suggest using the opportunity to talk things out and get some feedback, but take any suggestions with a grain of salt unless you're sure you need the degree of help they offer you there. when i went the woman was so impressed with my drama she wanted me to come back and drug me up. heh, um, yeah, i'm not one for brain chemicals so i never showed up, they never followed up, which i was rather unimpressed with. talking things out was cathartic enough for me, but i'm sure you'll make the right decision for yourself. sometimes it's just the stress =P

multitasking galore! sadly, i do have a teeny tiny stuck pixel problem...just in the corner hiding where I can barely see 'em. I'm still mighty impressed. the picture is just amazing though, it's not something that's marring the experience, more like a diamond with a flaw, when the shine rubs off i'll contemplate being worried about it. ;)
Darkstalkers is what I expected it to be...lol...aw, jeez, i mean, i've beaten a lot of it already, which scares me. when i run out then what? VS mode that's what...only this is *exactly* why i didn't want to buy this game, lol...i know i didn't want to, heh, but i did anyway....i'm a horrible person. oh well. the gameplay on it is great, but holding it I will admit isn't so comfortable after several matches, my left thumb is aching a bit. But I'm a regular player of fighting games, I...I like arcade sticks...of course this isn't going to be some great improved competitive controller, it's a well rounded little system. I wouldn't expect to have paid any less then the $40 i paid though, budget titles just don't release on a new system, it's good buissiness sence. So maybe this will be the first trade in title for the psp somewhere down the line, BUT for right now I'm getting WAY more entertainment from it then I'd get from $40 of gas in my tank. WAaaaaY more.

I pick up untold legends tomorrow...that's the one i've had my eye on since the beginning...and the $50 price tag seems appropriate to me~ i'm not adverse to game manufactuerers making a living. the only thing I don't see spending a high price sticker for is the movies~ a set time, the extras and the versitility aren't going to be like that of a dvd, and it's the same everytime you plug it in. I do however see these things as being phenomenal to rent. emphasis on phenomenal. (assuming i spelled it right). rentable dvd quality discs that are fairly indestructable during regular use, sign me up for a lease in the nearest airport =P

So you also have a tiny dead pixel? I wonder if any of the systems don't have at least 1, drone888 said the first system he got had about 20 of them, now that scared me. It's good to hear that the title seem worth the price tag, I hope they provide enough hours of entertainment to justify it also. I really dislike it when I spend $40-50 on a game and then 10 hours later I'm done and it doesn't offer any extras or bonus difficulties to add a few more hours of enjoyment. Well let us know how untold legends turns out, although I think you already said something about it in the chat.
