The "PhrostByte got owned multiple times" thread.

I haven't had a chance to brag about this yet, and got distracted with my PSP, but: last week picked up two used logitech xbox controllers for $19.99 each (plus 10% off, more card, dude even left the batteries in!) and got a used LE Phantom Brave (with the soundtrack in it) for free. ^_^

Don't work in a game store~ the temptation overwhelmes. Purse = OwnZZ'd this month ><

haven't seen phrost since, although, like i admitted before, i may or may not recognize him on sight...>.> sorry! (well, there's only like a bajjillion customers a day, whew)

Nice! If I had an xbox I'd probably be drooling over those controllers. Now that games have basically make you broke: Welcome to CAG!!! More deals mean more games which equals being broke a lot! Well not quite broke but it's amazing how much I started spending after I joined this site.

Oh and IMO Phantom Brave sucks!
So you also have a tiny dead pixel? I wonder if any of the systems don't have at least 1, drone888 said the first system he got had about 20 of them, now that scared me. It's good to hear that the title seem worth the price tag, I hope they provide enough hours of entertainment to justify it also. I really dislike it when I spend $40-50 on a game and then 10 hours later I'm done and it doesn't offer any extras or bonus difficulties to add a few more hours of enjoyment. Well let us know how untold legends turns out, although I think you already said something about it in the chat.
i do indeed have a tiny squiggle of a few dead pixels in the corner. i don't think i could handle finding 20, that is scary, and even the number i have would drive me nuts if they were in the center of the screen. Yes, i did tout the wonders of untold legends during chat~ i'm so impressed with it's controls and gameplay. solid game, worth the price tag. i'm worried about darkstalkers tho...so far i just, would rather play UL. we shall see...

Indeed! I'm convinced it has to do with proximity and knowledge though, the more you know what things are worth, the more you appreciate getting a good deal, the more you can't let a good deal pass you by. Logitech contollers are pretty frikken amazing, my boss caught the ps2 ones that were sold in once, said he tried them and could play his ps2 on a completely different floor of his place, lol. like who needs wireless controllers that good?!?

i like phantom brave all right, i'm keeping it around for my nieces also, want to subject them to some rpgs before they get too old and demand realistic graphics (j/k) and with the limited edition version i'm not really worried about it depreciating in value to nothing. besides~ it was free! heheh...

Hmm.. I guess I can't change the title... Oh well.. Yeah I haven't came to that store since I got Tekken. I usually buy games online..

ah, the draw of the preorder goodies such as artbooks...understandable. i have problems going in there on my days off because regular customers recognize me and i wind up inadvertantly "working" =P

The pixel thing really scares me, apperently he bought it from EB and they wouldn't let him return it, even with that many dead pixels. I'm glad to hear UL is good, it looked like on of the best games for the system so far.

Wow from another floor? That is crazy, I've got a logitech mouse and it messes up if it's 2 feet from the sensor. Are you sure you want to subject your niece to the horror of PB? It really gets difficult to play with characters dissapearing after so many turns and the hole walking on top of your opponent, plus the story is pretty sad.

Oh and I hope you didn't take that thread in the versus thread to seriously, it was mainly posted as a bit of a crude joke. Some people don't get how the versus thread works and get pissed off.

heh, nope, i took that thread with a grain of salt, but ya can't let other people honestly buy into things like that, so the ridiculousness of it has to be mentioned at some point.

and Yes, from another floor...logitech is like space agey goodness. i think i made out pretty well considering those things are $40-$50 bucks new, included the batteries (not included when new), and PB which Just dropped to $20 new for free, so...like $120 worth of stuff for less then $40. huzzah.

i've also had two reports from people that they were watching spiderman 2 in church and are probably going to hell now. o_O

Glad you figured out the thread for what it is, I was simply a bit concerned because sadly some people stumble across certain Versus forum threads and go beserk.

You got an amazing deal on the controlers, I've seen those things new and they are not cheap. I'm amazed that they work so well, you could probably have a bit of fun with those. Start someone up on a multiplayer game and have a ghost person playing from another room. It would probably be a bit tricky for them to see the TV but maybe with mirrors or a splitter you could freak someone out. You could tell people you got a haunted xbox off of ebay.

spiderman 2 in church? Not a bad idea, if I ever go again I'll have to consider that possibility. I normally just make due with my gba, that little system kept me awake through a lot of mindless econ and biochem lectures.

haha, actually my guess is it wouldn't work, i don't know how logitech controllers do it (and i don't have the original packaging anyway, besides, i'm a wee bit lazy) because there are no channel switches on the controllers/transmitters but if i plug two in it figures out that there are two controllers and they don't interfere with each other. So i guess it's magic.
btw, my xbox glows purple...but it has nothing to do with ghosts ;)

lol, i almost thought i got caught once doing that because the proffessor suddenly turned off the lights for something and my sp was just glowing away from under my desk, like ten people look up all the sudden and i had to pretend i was checking my cell phone real quick...^^;

Purple? I'm jealous, well not really but if I had an Xbox I probably would be, custom jobs are neat! So you almost got caught playing in class? Still the cell phone trick is a nice recovery. So what were you playing? I've found advanced wars to be the easiest game to play in short bursts, I tried FFTA in class once but I kept getting mixed up and then I'd use an outlawed skill and the judges would come down and kick my butt.

Motivitating lyrics of the day, for you and I (mostly for I):

Mama told me when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Take your time... don’t live too fast,
Troubles will come and they will pass.
Go find a woman and you’ll find love,
And don’t forget son,
There is someone up above.

i was playing advance wars indeed~ Best GBA Series ever....never did like ffta, didn't finish it just traded it in after a week or so because I knew I wasn't going to like it any more.

nice musical intrelude phrost

I doubt I'd use my gba half as much without advanced wars and Fire Emblem. I completed ffta and traded it the next week, I found the judge system to be so frustrating and the fact that you had to constantly defend random territories from invasion all the time bugged the heck out of me.
Thanks katt. Wanna come play Tekken with me? It's my free hour :) (hopefully someone up there has the disc)
heh, i never get free hours ;_;

zion~ always wanted to pick up a fire emblem game, i keep hearing it's good from the same people who like AW, which is a good sign...multiplayer AW with fog of war on, btw, is mindnumbingly good.

Fire Emblem is really good except it can be very hard, if you make a single mistake someone can die and either you restart the battle or they are dead forever. There is not much room for error, especially in latter missions. AW2 on fog of way multiplayer is really cool, I did that once unfortunatley our gba sp systems love to disconnet in the middle of a battle a lot, it really sucks.

zion~ bummer, i've never had any disconnect problems, but being able to have long drawn out battles is part of the whole point, well worth trying to play out, maybe it's the cord?

on another note, i was visiting and had to put up with working with a guy over a decade older then me violating my personal space bubble and attempting to flirt even though i was his boss...i need a....group hug thingie...but i can't find a damn list of smilies....:(

Well we tried the cord with a 3rd SP and it worked fine, I think my friend's sytem is just messed up.

So he's ten years your senior and you are his boss? Nice! Well if you don't want guys hitting on you try the evil management approch, each time he hits on you give him a longer more pointless task, like dusting or recleaning all the clean used game disks.

Also if you want smiles you need to go to edit options scroll down to the last option and change it to enchanced interface, the 3rd option. It should give you all the smilies plus font type and paragraph commands.

correct on all counts

Great story today, some kid picks up Virtua Fighter 4 and hands it to his mom, conversation went as follows:

Kid: "Mom what's this one??"

Mom: "Virgin Fighter..4...or something..."

Me and my coworker: *rofl...on the inside* Virgin Fighter???

Man, and just when you thought the Guy Game and Playboy: The Mansion was bad. heh. ;)

 So the virgin is the one playing the game, right?;)
Or perhaps it is your special basement dwelling coworker?
And yeah I played about 15 minutes of the playboy mansion, after that even the sims looked good to me. I never had the displeasure of seeing the guy game but I suppose a game which is famous entirely for a 17 year old's chest can't be that good.

Update on my pathetic love life: Today I talked to this girl online.. She was cool with my best friend before he left to college and she is gorgeous. A serious 10/10... She hasn't had much luck with guys though.. (apparently pretty people have to deal with fake people who try to use them and stuf).. and well.. I hadn't had much luck with girls (this 1.5 year relationship I sort of have has always been shit... I hope it really ends some time soon.. I'm not currently talking to her and I hope it stays that way). Anyway, I got out of my economics class and came to the school library.. went on AIM.. checked my email and stuff. I noticed she was online.. it was real early and I thought she had to be in school.. (she's a junior in high school). But she's on Spring Break.. duh.. anyway we chatted for like 2 hours.. she seemed to really like me.. so I said how about we chill some time? And she said yea we really need to.. then she asked me for my number and gave me hers.

Hopefully she'll call me tomorrow or something. I like this girl.. I know if I spent time with her she'd make me feel better and stronger (and I'd have more will power to resist my ex)... Yay! Of course.. nothing big yet, but I'm hoping for the best.
Man whore? I haven't had sex in a week dude...

No.. I saw my ex twice this month..

I suck.. I know I know..
No one is perfect, I hope she was at least mostly okay with the casual sex? Some women will do anything to have you back and you just end up sticking the knife in their back a second time.

It wasn't casual per say... it was more like.. she was trying to get me back into her life by making me happy in every way possible, unfortunately, she's a stupid selfish bitch...
It wasn't casual per say... it was more like.. she was trying to get me back into her life by making me happy in every way possible, unfortunately, she's a stupid selfish bitch...
Dude man, that's not cool. I mean don't just use her for sex, if you aren't interested in a relationship there is no reason to send mixed messages and hurt her like that. She's probably got issues but no reason to make them worse.

First of all I didn't use her.. she came on to me.. I give her chance after chance after chance but she doesn't seem to want to take them. She does have issues.. and frankly unless she wants to cooperate and try to work shit out then I want nothing to do with her.

Then just stop sleeping with her, I like most people have been in this situation at least once, you just need to end it for good. I'm glad you've found someone else but leading her on like that isn't cool.

I'm not leading her on.. I treated her well. She was a horrible girlfriend.. She brought me over there to talk.. I wanted to talk. I wanted to work shit out.. It's a coy! A hoax! She doesn't want to work shit out.. she just wants my attention.

She wants you and as long as you continue to sleep with her you are giving her a mixed message. You are telling her I don't want to date you but at the same time you are engagning in a very intimate act with her. No human being deserves to be led on like that, you know what is going on and I think if you consider it for a while you will realize your morals conflict your actions.

It's wrong that I sleep with her, yes.

But she tricks me.. she pretends to cooperate at first but then reverts back to her old ways.

I'm not saying two wrongs make a right... I'm just saying... If the first wrong hadn't been committed then everything would be fine.

But out of the 2 of you, you clearly know what is going on and you have the power to break this cycle. It's definatly not good for her and it probably isn't very good for you either.
That's why I'm hoping this other girl gets with me :)
And hopefully you will end things with your ex-girlfriend gracefully and not cheat on any new women you date with your ex.

No.. I wouldn't cheat.. I need something to take my mind off her.. that's all.. pot helps.. video games help.. school/studying helps.. but a new girl would occupy my mind and my heart :)

I just hope you have learned from this experince, it's easy to fall into old patterns, especially when dealing with old flames.

I have... but the thing is... we haven't seen other people after every time we've broken up... Well I did bang this one girl... cuz I thought it was for real. Banging her just made me miss my ex so much more so I got back with her... but if I can have something real with someone new.. My ex will be a thing of the past.

Old flames don't die in fact they don't fade away either. If you can't fix the problem without another relationship then you really aren't dealing with the core issue. At some point you need to realize both logically and emotionally that things with your ex will never work out and that will keep you from falling in this same pit again.
Yeah.. but I just need some help realizing that.. I'm a weak man.
You are only weak because you fail to learn from your mistakes.

I'm usually a logical person.. but this emotion is killing me..

Look bottom line: If I were to start a new relationship with this new girl, I would NOT cheat on her... Not for the reason that I wouldn't want to, I would love to fuck my ex again. But for the reason that it's wrong.. it would devestate her.. I wouldn't want her to have to deal with that, whether or not she would find out about it is not the issue.. the consequence is the issue at hand.

And what happens when your new girlfriend goes out of town for a week? Or you get in a small fight? Your ex is right there where she has always been a who knows maybe she'll have a new boyfriend by then and be completely over you or maybe she won't.
By then I'll be over her.
So you think you will be over a multiyear relationship in a couple of months? Who are you trying to kid here, because it certainly isn't me.

I'm already over her... I don't need her. I haven't needed her in a while. She entices me and tricks me.. she plays mind games. I have sex with her cuz well.. why not? She wants it, I want it.. it's not some sort of binding contract. The sex was never the problem in our relationship...
