Going to start using the gym that I'm technically paying for anyway.
I sure would like to lose 25 pounds by the end of the year, though that's highly unlikely.
By the end of the school year or end of 2010? 2010 might be a stretch but it should be easy by the end of the school year.
Getting in shape at school is actually really easy; I'll give you the tips that helped me.
- Get a consistent gym schedule. This is one of the most important things. I used to go before my classes 4-5 days a week. You could go after, but by then I was usually tired from sitting in class/going to work.
- Each of those days target a different area. Chest, back, arms, legs, shoulders. You could try doing an all around workout 3 days a week, but I much prefer this.
- Cardio is going to be the biggest thing to focus on if you want to lose weight. DON'T just do endless crunches, it's not going to make stomach fat go anywhere, you'll just build muscle under the fat. I suggest 15 minutes of the elliptical and 15 minutes of running. Oh, and really push it when you do the elliptical. I see so many people go like...5mph and it's almost like they're walking on the thing.
- Your diet...this needs to be looked at like a lifestyle change, not a temporary diet. Treat yourself on the weekends (beer, pizza, whatever). During the week stick to whole grains, tuna, skinless chicken, veggies, oatmeal and cereals. Try to avoid pasta, sweets, fried foods, mayo, excessive salad dressing, whole milk, carbs after 8PM etc.
- Portion size. Here's a big one. Don't take too much food, try to keep your caloric intake to around 1500 a day. This can be difficult at first, but it is doable.
Good luck, PM me if you want any workout/eating tips, mang
