Punk breaks out the good ole chloroform soaked rag, slaps on the Anaconda Vise on an already knocked out Taker. Punk claims he won because he doesn't inhale illicit substances, unlike his opponent.

Do any of you guys have experience with WWE Shop's customer service? I just ordered some DVDs from there and two of the DVDs weren't in my shipment. Kind of sucks because it is hard for me to prove that I didn't get the DVDs. I'm hoping that i can prove if with pics of the box size, but we'll see. I've emailed them, but haven't had any luck on the phone. I'm just wondering if you guys think I'll have any luck with them or if I'll be screwed?

^^ You sure they aren't shipping them separately? Kind of weird but not unheard of.

I'll concur for now with the idea of Undertaker just being unconscious so he doesn't actually submit during the match against Punk. Well, if they are going to have Punk win, anyway.

amazon has shipped my stuff separately a few times, give it a few days and then see what happens.

All that invasion talk a couple of days ago and now you can see how it all went down. I wasn't watching any wrestling when this was airing, dare I watch it now?[/QUOTE]

Thanks. I was just re-reminded of the terrible "Show Gunns" team.

Man, this (the 2001 justin.tv stream) wasn't even a particularly great period in WWF history. In fact, it was pretty disappointing compared to what it could have been. But this just kills anything they are doing on Raw right now. Crowds are into almost everything and the matches are for the most part exciting.

Also, The Rock was looking faaaaabulous.

So while I watch impact from this past thursday , there's something stupid I've been wondering. How long has LAX been broken up and why did they break up in the first place?

Holy shit, they just showed my favorite Rock moment ever (showing the Rocky statue outside the Spectrum, then slowly panning down to reveal the Rock standing there staring at it). I had no idea when it took place until now.

They're not exactly broken up, it's just that TNA is also pushing them as singles also. Still a loose affiliation between the two, but for the most part, they're wrestling separately.

Supposedly Homicide asked for his release from TNA a few weeks ago but was denied.

I remember that. It was when he was coming back from his Hollywood hiatus and people were clamoring to see if he would join WWF or the Alliance.

Ah ok , so I'm not quite as out of the loop as I thought I was.

They're pretty much broken up. There's no real reason to do that, IMO, unless they're going to truly give Hernandez a push to a title shot.

The Invasion stuff is interesting compared to the current product by and large. More than anything else, it's nice to see stuff from that era that isn't edited to hell and back - no blurs, no music edits, no commentator edits, etc. Even if the video quality is streaming internet quality.

Also, Paul Heyman > all other Raw "color commentators." Or all other Raw announcers, really, aside from Jim Ross. And even that is debatable.

Haven't seen it posted here yet, so here goes: Bob Barker is confirmed to host RAW on Labor Day! I'm thinking Cody Rhodes gets neutered on the show...

good thing rey is gone i think he sucks
if it wasnt for eddie g i dont think rey would have ever gotten that fraud of a title run

havent been reading much into it lately.. but why exactly is jeff done/gone?

wathcing the wcw dvd now.. pissed they inserted the wwe goldberg theme but kept ddp's wcw theme

they also added the nwo and horsemen theme for the fall brawl 96 war games match

I think he wanted time off but they wouldn't give it to him, so he asked for his resignation instead.

Oh, boy. Now I remember why Invasion sucked. Once "The Alliance" was formed and it centered around Stone Cold, Kurt Angle, and the McMahon kidz, it went to shit. Steve Austin, in his Stone Cold persona (nothing says WCW like that), berates the entire roster for 20 minutes, going out of his way to bury RVD, Raven, Tazz, and Hugh Morrus in the process. Meanwhile, he praises new Alliance member (and someone who never spent a minute in WCW/ECW), Test, and he also praises ECW member Rhino, who had been in the WWF for nearly two years by that point.

fuck this storyline, even 8 years later.

KaneRobot & cdubb1605,

I thought of the separate shipment possibility, but it seems strange that they wouldn't say they were shipped separate and my order status says everything was shipped in the one package. I suppose maybe they realized the box was too small and then decided to ship it in another package. I hope to get them on the phone tomorrow though and straighten things out.

POOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUNCE!

I missed that b/c I'm trying to get work done while Raw reruns are on the telly.

But I was listening to the match.

WWF crowds were insane during the attitude era. Today they're much more prone to sitting on their hands. I noticed that same thing during the WCW documentary, where the crowd was jumping up and down doing backflips and shit like it was a summertime religious revival and suddenly everybody found the holy spirit - all because Goldberg hit his spear.

Watching this invasion stuff is fascinating in hindsight.

You know who I'd like to see moved into a title feud with CM Punk? Rob Van Dam.

It'll never happen, but after the UT feud has run its course, if (god forbid) Punk escapes with the title, bring in RVD as a perfect foil for CM Punk's sXe ways.

They just concluded the 1-week "Tazz humiliated" storyline with...of course...Tazz just falling back into line. One of the biggest fuck-ups of the Invasion. They sort of blew it with him after a really good debut (partially due to an injury, to be fair), and then this second opportunity to get him over huge showed up, and they fucked it up again.

Of course, that was nothing compared to how bad they blew the insane RVD popularity at at the time, but at least he remained pretty popular anyway.

I forgot about the "lights out" match from the first live Smackdown. Christ. I've had this Invasion channel on all day as background noise.

It'll be several hours yet (since Summerslam is about to start) but if you're up overnight you'll get to see the would-be-offensive-if-it-wasn't-so-asinine promo from Steph after 9/11 where she compares the attacks to Vince's steroid trial.

September 11 was cool

Damnit, all this talk is getting me to turn into that Invasion channel. I actually missed this whole angle because I was in 8th/9th grade and wrestling had become uncool by then. I tuned in to the last Nitro, and really didn't follow "hardcore" again until I found out Wrestlemania was coming to Detroit.

The WCW buyout and the Invasion angle made me quit watching wrestling for nearly 5 years.

I want to try to predict what time the Survivor Series is going to be on. I haven't seen that PPV since shortly after it happened, and want to look at it with a fresh pair of eyes to see if it's as bad as I remember.

Well finally got a hold of the WWE shop and they're going to send my discs as a one time courtesy. Guess I'll have to film myself opening packages for proof that I received things from here on out, heh.

I'm going to have to put on these channels you guys are talking about, it seems interesting.

how nice of them to send the stuff you paid for...

I had never seen this match until now. Since people cite it as the match that "got Kronik fired" I figured it wasn't worth seeing.

Honestly? Maybe standards have lowered since then, but this match wasn't THAT bad. It wasn't fantastic or anything - don't go out of your way to see it - and the last minute was pretty ugly (complete with a VERY audible "fuck!" from 'Taker after they fucked up a jawbreaker) but it was a perfectly passable "three star" brawl.

Maybe I don't get how wrestling matches are supposed to go, but I was going to agree with you for the most part. Given Kronik's WCW persona (big guys who squashed everybody), it appeared early in the match that their cardinal sin was trying to portray themselves as peers of UT and Kane. God forbid a match appear to be competitive, or that the heels in the match appear to be winners. But WWE has gone with a "don't come across as *too much* of a threat" line of thought with their heels for the longest time that parity between opponents is somewhat of a shock.

But then I honed in on Brian Adams. Clarke did some selling, I guess. But I think Clark's biggest fuckup in the eyes of the WWF was when UT/Kane were alternating corner splashes on Kronik. As Kane went for the final splash on Clark, you saw Adams stand up from the corner and simply walk normally back to his corner across the tv screen. I could imagine WWF producers screaming bloody murder, mostly about Adams, in that match. Adams really came off in the match like he'd rather be anywhere but there. His action in the match really conveyed a "fuck this shit" attitude to me. Much like the Paul Roma match against Alex Wright that got him shitcanned from WCW.

It wasn't a bad match, sure, and the exact same match against opponents with less locker room pull than UT/Kane probably wouldn't have resulted in them being fired. And just maybe Kronik getting in offense pissed off WWF producers, since the match didn't follow the DDP/Kanyon vs UT/Kane match scripts of "stand there and get beat up," and DDP/Kanyon kept their jobs.

Egos interfere and blow something into legendary proportions, I guess.

Sadly Kronik's longest lasting contribution to the company was that Stevie Richards kept their music for like 8 years afterward

WWE: We listen to what the fans want.

I totally forgot that they changed Austin's theme music to a generic "metal riff" during his heel Alliance run so the crowd would stop popping for him. They did the same thing to Demolition in the later years, if memory serves. That and they wore gimp masks for a short period instead of face paint.

Chavo in a cow suit vs. Hornswaggle in a cowboy outfit. What the fuck. Michael Cole said "What a moooooooooooooove!".. :wall:

Did they just do a 'Tale of the Tape' for a WWE match?! Big Show vs. Mark Henry!?

I quit.

WWE's done tales of the tape before - they were big on SD for a while, but haven't had one on Raw in a long time. THANK GOD Henry vs. Show is over, and damn that DX-Dusty thing ruled the world.

d'oh

A professional wrestler was arrested on drunken driving charges during a traffic stop Friday in Smithfield. Daniel Christopher Covell, 39, of Palmdale, CA, who is known by his ring name of Fallen Angel, was charged with driving while impaired after police said he registered 0.14 on the Breathalyzer.

Officer J.A. Calzaretta Jr. stopped Covell’s 2009 Dodge Charger in the 2300 block of South Brightleaf Boulevard for a traffic violation, which led to his arrest. Covell was released on $2,000 bail.
