Hope you guys don't mind me advertising here since wrestling was discussed.

I have never had any sort of broadcast experience, much less podcasts. However, Tim AKA twenzor was in need of a co-host and I offered my services. The first episode with me in it went online today after being recorded last night. Hopefully, I come off okay. I've been told I have a good radio voice.

The show is called UAV Jammers. There is no dedicated format and we did not have anything planned beforehand, but it's mainly about games and life in general, with some wrestling discussion thrown in.

The site is http://www.twenzor.org and the direct link to the episode is as follows:

http://www.twenzor.org/mp3/uavjammers4.mp3

Check it out and listen to Twen, Simon DI, and myself!

If all goes well, Danielson in WWE is a double-edged sword. Good because I'm a huge mark for the guy and would get to see him on TV every week, and bad because I'm afraid of how badly they'd cripple his moveset and constantly worry about how much they'd bury him in midcard purgatory.

Maybe there's a (slim) chance HBK can do some politicking for him since he did train him and all.

This.

And didn't HBK train Kendrick and Cade, too? So, perhaps he doesn't have *that* much power. ;)

... and suddenly it dawns on me why it was Cade/Danielson. Nifty.

So I take it judging from the post, last night was a good night to not watch WWE? I was too busy catching up with Blood Wake & Rayman 2, since I'm trying(slowly) to trim my backlog. Might wait until after the draft to start watching WWE again considering the SD spoilers I've read for the next 2 weeks(are the writers just phoning it in?).

Impact sounds somewhat decent this week, so I guess that's the only wrestling I'll watch this week.

Yeah... After listening to Matt Young talk about nothing but wrestling for the entire COD4 double xp weekend I thought I would give RAW another chance. I tuned in at 9:00 only to find Vince parading around a bunch of money and pretty much instantly turned it off. If you're going to pay your viewers to watch your show at least have something interesting.

I'm going to give it another try after the draft and see if that changes anything, but odds are we're just going to have a Cena/HHH boring summer.

You know, I wouldn't really mind a Cena/HHH summer if they actually allowed the feud to progress with *gasp* wrestling. I too turned on Raw, watched Vince call someone, and turned it off again.

Can someone that has RAW on TiVo (and that has nothing better to do) get a stopwatch or something and add up all of the time Vince was on camera throughout the broadcast? My guess is 20 minutes.

This might explain the lame writing the past month.
Vince McMahon has had less personal interaction with the creative team in recent weeks. This of course has been greatly frustrating to the team because they are working without an established direction. With the draft coming up, even the writers don't know who's going where -- it's that secretive. Additionally, the creative team weren't told about Undertaker's absence until the addition of the stipulation the week before. They weren't given any details on the situation. Vince simply told them to come up with ideas on how to write him out.
Also found a little news bit that mentions the new book coming out about real side of wrestling. Apparently there's a story about Vince & his love of blow and would wired for days. :whistle2:#
Holy Crap, that's my old finisher from my Backyard Wrestling days! Only, I executed the move a tad safer.
...
After seeing tonight's show, would you buy a ticket to see Raw live in your town next week?
I wouldn't go if they gave tickets away. It would be a waste of time and gas.

Okay, maybe I'd go just to ogle Mickie, and try to start offensive chants, but that's a big maybe. ;)
Why does everyone keep saying Vince was Rick Roll'd like it was intentional? It was merely a ringback tone. Also, no way is the giveaway fake. The potential legal ramifications for WWE would be massive.

Another thing I don't get- How would DiBiase choose Rhodes as his partner? DiBiase has to choose a partner for the match against Rhodes and Holly. The only way Rhodes could be his partner would be if it were a handicap match with DiBiase winning and then giving one half of the titles to Rhodes, which would be horrible.
It would be horrible, but I could see WWE doing it. Preferably, they will introduce Afa Jr. then have Cody Rhodes turn heel against Bob Holly at the climax of the tag match.

If they have Holly turn on Cody, I will scream at my television.
What the fuck?!? I guess WWE is on the hunt again after the success they've had with CM Punk.
I know it would provide Danielson would a better income, but if he signs with WWE, I will be sad for the loss pro-wrestling will suffer. Even thinking of Bryan Danielson working WWE's soft-serve style makes me cringe in disgust.

The fact that Danielson beat Lance Cade; with one of his finishing moves, nevertheless, has me very worried.
Vince McMahon as a cokehead is perhaps the single least surprising thing *EVER* in the history of pro wrestling.
yeah, i'd second that, the only thing less surprising is that the ultimate warrior used steroids
...
Hey, I was a naive 12-year-old kid surrounded by near-retarded ghetto kids. This was actually one of the more timid things we did.
anyone have a single idea as to why they changed matt sydal names to evan bourne?
WWE will own the Evan Bourne name, so when/if he gets famous he won't be able to use it anywhere else when he leaves.

Oooh, or maybe they'll claim he's the son of Maniac Matt Bourne then put him into a ridiculous angle where he's forced to dress as Doink 2.0 (or 5.0...).

I recall Busta saying he wrestled with Bourne and that Bourne pulled off crisp suplexes. I would have loved to have seen it, and Borne's stint in ECW as Borne Again.

Tell us more stories, Grampa Busta! :D:drool:

Today's Observer site update has some info about WWE preventing ROH from having Flair and Kobashi appearing on a show together in a non-wrestling capacity, and there's nothing new on Danielson appearing in a Raw dark match other than ROH okaying it - http://www.wrestlingobserver.com/wo/news/headlines/default.asp?aID=23126

Today's prowrestling.net podcast is worth a download, as it has info on the million dollar giveaway, including info about Haas only being on the show as a rib, and info about Jake Roberts being clean on the PPV, and Angle being in tremendous pain backstage, where he's seen struggling to get around, and it's stated that Angle may not work every show on the UK show, but will probably work a couple of matches on the tour.

Tell us more stories, Grampa Busta! :D:drool:
hahaha... well, you're half right. I wrestled with Doink, but not with Matt Bourne. The Doink I worked with was Ray Apollo.

We referred to him as "Doink" on the show, but on the advertisements we had to call him "The Wrestling Clown" (which I assume has to do with WWE trademarking).

Angle really needs to take like a full year off. I mean, completely off. After the year is up, he can resume training (slowly).

The guy is 39 years old, he can wrestle probably another 5 or 6 if he would just take it easy for a fucking second, instead I keep thinking he'll be the next to go.

Has anybody been to one of their "press conferences?" Part of me feels like going to today's, but it's super hot outside, and I don't really care for HHH, Cena, or Maria.

Man, the Speed Muscle/Motorcity Machine Guns match was off the fucking hook!

That the kind of stuff TNA can bring that WWE can't even dream of doing.

Wow. The match was too busy, but if they took that same match and spread it out over 15-18 minutes, it'd be 4 stars easy. VERY exciting, VERY innovative, VERY fun to watch. Wow.

And I think I'm slow on the pickup, because I just now realized why they pose the way they do, pointing at their right hands.
And I think I'm slow on the pickup, because I just now realized why they pose the way they do, pointing at their right hands.
What I don't get is why all of the fans do it every time they come out, as if everyone in attendance is from Detroit as well.

Impact thoughts - I missed about an hour of this show to run errands, but despite that, I still had no problem following this show when I came back (right as the "HE'S HOT, HE'S SPICY..." intro for Curry Man started), which is a good sign, as Impact is usually incredibly hard to follow even when you're watching the whole thing, let alone when you miss that much of the show.

From what I saw, this was a largely good wrestling show, with the Guns-Doi/Yoshino match being an incredibly enjoyable, fast-paced spotfest that reminded me of when TNA regularly featured up and coming indy guys in '02 and had a style that was completely unlike anything WWE was doing. That match was a perfect example of what TNA COULD do on a regular basis to separate themselves from WWE.

Joe-Kaz was very good - I loved seeing Joe bust out some new stuff (like a legdrop), and the fast pace of the match reminded me of '05 Joe, instead of the more sluggish style he's worked over the past year. Kaz came out of this looking strong, and lost in a way that really didn't hurt him, despite the fact that he lost both the X and TNA World title shots he'd earned over the past week.

I thought it was pretty classy of TNA to have a graphic for the deceased crew member, then have the roster wear armbands in his honor. I'm a bit disturbed by all that being done on a show entitled "I Put a Hit on my Wife", but it was a still a nice gesture by TNA.

The stuff with the Beautiful People and Karen was a lot of fun, and Dutt's match was a good way to showcase his new heel character, but like the Curry Man-Koslov match, was unspectacular. Daivari's promo (with out of sync subtitles) was hilarious, especially when the subtitles stayed on-screen while JB was talking.

AJ-Kurt was fine, if a bit short for a main event, but a perfectly acceptable TV main event. The ending was overbooked, but I got a laugh out of Brother Ray not jumping through the table while Abyss made the save (which, despite having to be done swiftly, didn't lead him to not wait to pose and have his pyro go off - another funny bit). Angle being thrown into the table was scary, and wasn't needed given all the other shit going on. Kong coming out as the hitman for Karen was fantastic - I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with that.

They also did a nice job of building up Joe-Booker. Booker actually acted like a serious character again after being Royal T for a little while, and it's definitely the best thing to do if they're going to make him a regular main eventer. They referenced enough of the Royal T stuff (the locker room issues) without being cartoonish about it, and still tying the present serious Booker T to the somewhat goofy Royal T.

I'm looking forward to watching the replay of this show so I can see what I missed, and re-watch the Joe-Kaz and Guns-Doi/Yoshino matches. This seemed like a pretty good show, but one with some matches that were far too short for things that were supposed to either showcase debuting wrestlers or get over revamped characters.

Quotes -
Penzer - This is the opening match on TNA Impact - it is for the TNA WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!
Tenay - At Slammiversary, Joe made WRESTLING HISTORY - he came into king of the mountain as TNA World champion and won!
Booker - Congratulations, Joe, you just beat Kaz… WHOOPDEE DOO, YOU JUST WON A TRIP TO UNIVERSAL! Lemme tell ya something, these people don’t give a damn about you! (kid chants Joe!) I wanna know what they think about you screwing me at Slammiversary. YOU PUNK ASS PAPA CHAMPION! I HAD YA ASS BEAT IN DA MIDDLE OF THE RING, IF IT WASN’T FOR YA BUDDY, KEVIN NASH! I want you to explain to these people, and more importantly, me, what the hell is up!? Scratch that, I don’t wanna hear no lame excuses, I wanna know man to man, face to face…eye to eye, Joe, can you look at yourself in the mirror and say that I beat Booker T straight up at Slammiversary? Can you say I beat a real man, Joe?! I tell you what, I’m gonna head on back to my locker room, and the door gonna be wide open, because there is no door on my locker room! I’ma be right back there, Joe, and you can show me what kinda champion you really are!
Tenay - BOY, IT LOOKS LIKE BOOKER T JUST GOT IN THE HEAD OF SAMOA JOE, TO THE BACK WITH LAUREN AND KURT ANGLE!
Lauren - Karen played a role in you losing to AJ Styles, and some say that you got what you deserved…
Kurt - That’s exactly why I hate women - because of the stupid idiotic comments that come out of your mouth. Do you know anything about what I do? How many matches have you had? Why are you even here? Because Spike TV thinks that hot chicks equals ratings. I just got a letter for the president of Spike TV that Karen signed a contract with TNA as a talent, and that if I even breathe on her wrong, I get fired. That’s why I’ve put a hit out on my wife, the mother of my children. There are women here that don’t even think you deserve to be here. I envision you laying on your back, with your stupid boyfriend AJ laying right next to you, and you’re both unconscious. You’re gonna feel the torture I felt over the past couple months. Karen, tonight, it’s your last night in TNA!
Tenay - Yoshino and Doi are known as Speed Muscle.
DW - SPEEED MUSCLE!
Tenay - Sabin catches him with a facial!
Tenay - Doi and Yoshino have held every title in Dragon Gate - from the world title to the six-man tag titles.
(Sabin comes in)Tenay - HERE COMES THE MUSCLE!…of the Guns!
JB - Karen, congratulations on your new deal with Spike TV…but your ex-husband Kurt has put a hit on you. YOU’RE THE MOTHER OF HIS CHILDREN.
Karen - That’s all I am to him - the mother of his children.
Love - Look bitch, the Beautiful People never liked you - you think you can get more money and TV time than us? There’s a pecking order here - there’s the Beautiful People here, and there’s everyone else!
Velvet - It’s Prince AJ and he’s come to save the world!
Love - AJ, The Beautiful People are above your little High School Musical drama.
Tenay - It’s Mike Tenay and Don West at ringside, LET’S SEND IT TO THE BACK WITH LAUREN AND KEVIN NASH!
(as Nash heads to the Impact Zone)Tenay - DON, DO YOU THINK THAT NASH IS GONNA COME TO THE IMPACT ZONE AND SAY IT TO JOE’S FACE!? NASH IS HEADED TO THE RING FOR A CONVERSATION WITH THE CHAMPION!
Nash - Joe, we don’t need to do this out here, we can just go to the back.
Joe - No, anything you need to say to me, you can say to these people and the rest of the world.
Tenay - Before we comment on WHAT A JERK Sonjay Dutt was at the wedding, we gotta talk about Victory Road - Booker T, Samoa Joe, TNA World title.
Dutt - Val, THIS MATCH IS A DEDICATION TO YOU, MY LOVE! I’M GONNA RAISE MY HAND IN VICTORY! THERE’S ONLY ONE THING LEFT TO DO - COME ON DOWN AND SEAL THE DEAL WITH A BIG KISS! AHAHAHAHA!
Lethal - Sonjay, next week at the Pink Taco, I’m gonna split you right down the middle! OOOHHH YYEEEAHHHH!
Tenay - SO CAL VAL LOVES IT!
(after Angle avoids a frog splash through a table)Trigg - Who’s the smart guy? Yeah, Kurt’s the smart guy!

Screens -

Eh, it's a show of solidarity.

It occurred to me since I ran into a friend in Milwaukee a few weeks back who is from Detroit, and he pointed out that he has a dot tattooed on his "mitten hand" to show where he lives.

Since I haven't watched TNA in ages, it never occurred to me - and then it hit me this evening when I realized they always pointed at the lower right part of their hand.

That Guns/Dragon Gate guys match was incredible. I saw some stuff I'd never seen before, as well as something I hadn't seen in months- the Guns winning a match.
And I think I'm slow on the pickup, because I just now realized why they pose the way they do, pointing at their right hands.
I've seen Shelley wrestle at least a half-dozen times, and it took Myke explaining it for me to figure out what the hell that point was supposed to be. It's clever though.

Looks like Elijah Burke is trying out a new gimmick, he also referred to himself several times as "The Black Pope" in his new column
Weird, Wrestling Observer and Figure Four Weekly are merging.
I'm not too surprised by it, as Dave and Bryan help each other out so much on each other's publications that it seemed inevitable. Plus, the Observer being online again is fantastic, as the print newsletter's small text is a bitch to read. At just $10 a month for both newsletters, this is a fantastic deal that I'll take advantage of at some point. I'm somewhat surprised that it took them this long to do this, but I'm glad it's being done right. Of course, the best part about this merger is the archived stuff - the Observer back issues alone already go for $4 to $6 apiece, so this is a remarkable deal given that you not only get those, but archives of nearly every F4W issue as well. I'll probably buy a subscription when there's a really good amount of Observer back issues up.

There's an audio update on the site now that explains the changes, and also mentions the screenshot I took of the AWA show with Meltzer and Tenay on it - I got a kick out of that.

Black Gangrel?

Meltzer needs to get his archives up online.

I know WO has never been at the forefront of wrestling websites, but there's a pile of money to be made. Reading stuff like the issues leading up to Wrestlemania III was really fascinating (for instance, the original plan was to have Vince's first match all the way back then, teaming with Bruno). It's probably the only wrestling website I'd even consider getting a "membership" to.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

WWE has come to terms on the release of developmental talent and former Spirit Squad member Mike Mondo. We wish Mike all the best in his future endeavors.

Looks like it's time to make this the "The Spirit Squad/Mikey Memorial Wrestling Thread :("

Michigan = "Mitten State." They're pointing to the spot on their hands where, were it a map of the state, Detroit would be.

Funnily enough, if I held my hand the same way except sideways, pointing at the same spot, it would be where I live in Kentucky. For the next 6 weeks, at any rate.
