The "Stay Classy, Republicans" Super Nintendo Chalmers Thread

Women are hosts, they do not deserve personhood with what they can do with their bodies. Which is why this lawmaker is doing the brave thing to make husbands decide if their wife should have an abortion. https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/post-nation/wp/2017/02/14/oklahoma-bill-would-require-father-of-fetus-to-approve-abortion/

Republicans refuse to investigate Trump and Russia connections. Keep in mind this is the same people who didn't stop with Benghazi and emails. http://www.politico.com/story/2017/02/house-intel-chairman-dismisses-call-for-russia-probe-235052

Mutually Assured Destruction, in the President's own words:

“If Russia and the United States actually got together and got along … and don’t forget we’re a very powerful nuclear country and so are they, there’s no upside … Nuclear holocaust would be like no other … If we have a good relationship with Russia, believe me that's a good thing.”
This is the leader of the free world, speaking like an elementary school student.

Seriously...why can't he just say something like "Having a civil relationship based on respecting each other's policies and capabilities would provide stability and be beneficial to the world as a whole." ??? I can't stand Trump...but even when he says shit that has a fair point, he sounds so stupid, he makes it easy for people on the extreme left to take it and run with it.

He's more concerned with his damn ratings and who's watching which news program. Not to mention, he STILL brings up Hillary every three sentences. I had to turn the press conference off because the childish whining just got to be too much.

Yeah, Trump's hates the free press because they're reporting on what he's doing, but loves it when they kiss his ass. The public is wary of the free press not because of the lies, but because of the fluffer stories. It takes facism to give people a kick in the ass to grow a backbone it seems.

Meanwhile, Reince Priebus violated the law as he was the aide that told the FBI to knock it off with investigating the Russian connections. http://www.esquire.com/news-politics/politics/news/a53406/reince-priebus-fbi/

“We are going to have to rebuild within this wild-wild-west-of-information flow some sort of curating function that people agree to. There has to be, I think, some sort of way in which we can sort through information that passes some basic truthiness tests and those that we have to discard, because they just don’t have any basis in anything that’s actually happening in the world. That is hard to do, but I think it’s going to be necessary; it’s going to be possible.”
A few months ago, the President of the United States proposed (very loosly) a system of oversight on the media. Pretty much no one bats an eye, I remember Snowden coming out against it, but I don't recall any other big names speaking out. Pretty sure it didn't even come up here.

Now that we have a President actually acting towards the sentiment in that statement... everyone flips their shit.

Now, the biggest difference is that most folks thought President #1 would use sensible and sane guidelines when it came to, essentially, censoring the media - whereas no one would really ever accuse President #2 of doing something sane or sensible... but President #1 isn't always going to be the President. Even if a different candidate had become President #2, what would President #3 do? #4? #20?

If you fear your President, perhaps your President has too much power.

hooray for more security theater, asking questions that they dont understand, and expecting answers straight from wikipedia, that they also dont understand. Maybe we should be allowed to ask them dumb shit wikipedia questions like when was border patrol founded and who is the chief officer, to in fact verify that we are talking to real border patrol agents and not some terrorists in disguise

watching page squirm was something. sessions didn't exactly come off better. now trump tries and fails to deflect to Schumer

Looks like they finally tracked down one of the a-holes behind the rash of anti-Semetic bombing threats.

Must have been a one of those white supremicist racists.... wait, he's black?  So must be one of the few black pro-Trump anti-Semites......wait he was a former journalist at a left-leaning internet news site?

Well ain't that a kick in the pants.  http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/03/us/jewish-institutions-bomb-threats-arrest/index.html

Yeah, but doesn't explain the knocked down cemeteries. If he did it, how? I want to know.

Clare McCaskill spoke with Russian officials because they went homophobe-crazy, banning adoptions. She should've said it better.

As a member of the government, big meetings are a matter of public record. If Trump says even the Democrats met with that Russian diplomat, why does he and his administration not admit their relationship with Putin's government? Why is his defense "but he did it too!"

Yeah. The break in didn't do in Nixon, it was the cover up. The cheating on game shows wasn't the problem, it was the cover up.

And you only try to cover something up if you feel guilty about something. So yeah, there might be something going on with Russia they feel the need to conceal but taking it one step at a time there have been multiple instances of demonstrated lies by Trump administration officials about Russian contacts.

At this point I'm not so sure Trump's even gonna make it through 1 term before "Nixoning" out. Maybe his ego won't let him quit though, I dunno. Also, I probably watch too much House of Cards but I'm really starting to feel like Pence is "Frank Underwooding" Trump and he's the source of all of this.

So... the new AHA bill to replace the ACA will also penalize you for not having insurance, where your money goes to the insurance companies instead of the IRS, which can easily put that money to other uses? Legit.

This thing is an even bigger wet dream for the healthcare industry than the ACA was.

Oh, geeze...

With a straight-face, how can anyone legitimize the money going to health insurance providers?  State-funded programs like Medicaid or such, sure...

Oh, well.  y'all got what you wanted when the Federal Government was allowed to force folks to buy into private insurance.  Congrats.

Oh but on the upside, tax credits! (that wont come close to helping), and increased limits for HSA contributions! (which means absolutely nothing to people who cant afford to put money in an HSA to begin with)

Chaffetz said people will just have to decide between investing in health care and buying an iPhone.

Which should be very comforting for people whose insurance & health care costs come out to $600 a year.

Trump's new budget reveals that funding for the EPA (which keeps us from coughing a lung out, or from drinking poisoned water among many other functions), State Department (which keeps other countries from f-ing us in the ass) are down. Defense spending is way up because brown people are scary. Also plans to cut Meals on Wheels, as feeding old people is such a burden on the economy and kills jobs. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/16/us/politics/trump-budget-spending-cuts.html?_r=0

And that is bullshit

Its one thing to debate the merits of drug testing for 'free' benefits, welfare, food stamps, whatever. Not that I agree with doing that but I can understand the argument

Drug testing for unemployment benefits is utter bullshit. This is money people have already worked for and earned. Due to their circumstances they are now eligible to receive it. This would be like drug testing to receive a social security check. Sure you can say it wasnt paid directly by the employee, but by their previous employers paying the tax basically on their behalf, and their amount of unemployment tax and benefit received being based on previous wages, its inadvertently paid by them

Not only that but unemployment benefits are typicall time limited from 6 mon. to 1 year by state so it's not like there's even any unemployment equivalent of "welfare queens".

Furthermore, given the amount of people applying for benefits at any given time? This would cost a fortune to add testing to their requirements. Such a waste of money from a party that prides itself on cutting excess spending.

Comey is in a hearing over the "wiretapping" of Trump. He confirms the FBI is investigating Trump and Russia. Trey Gowdy (that asshole again!) is more concerned about the leaks.
Watched/listened to the whole thing live for some reason, and it was fascinating. And this dude really stood out for the wrong reasons. He has a point, but also placed his personal agenda ahead of the rest.

Yeah, I noticed both sides see him as a hero and villain like the flip of a coin. People have to accept that Comey is indeed jerk, and if you're gonna big dog the top cop of the United States, at least be more morally upright than he is.

Isn't that pretty much the Democrats response to any of the pre-election leaks? "Pay no attention to us rigging the primary and defrauding our party members... we should drone strike Julian Assange!"

How's that Benghazi investigation going?

Meanwhile:

Trump Advisor Paul Manafort: https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/20/world/europe/paul-manafort-ukraine-allegations-trump.html  Where's that Uranium Clinton? Where are the receipts?

Most organizations involved in the health care industry say Trumpcare is a disaster. But this teacher says it already helped her, even if it hasn't passed yet! Her son now pays $88 a month for insurance. https://www.rawstory.com/2017/03/trump-supporter-credits-trumpcare-which-hasnt-taken-effect-for-dramatically-lower-health-costs/

Trump budget cuts many programs that helps Americans, including education: https://www.usnews.com/news/education-news/articles/2017-03-20/betsy-devos-trump-budget-will-protect-vulnerable-students-despite-9b-cut, the sciences: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/speaking-of-science/wp/2017/03/21/trump-signs-nasa-bill-aimed-at-landing-on-mars/, the arts: http://www.tennessean.com/story/money/2017/03/20/trumps-arts-funding-cuts-could-hurt-tennessee-programs/99306434/, health research including the CDC and FDA: http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/16/health/trump-budget-medical-science-huge-cuts/.

But I'd like to hear the other side of the stories, especially when they don't require the use of buzzwords from politicians.

That's not how insurance works, or taxes or society for that matter. I wish my taxes didn't go toward the President's travel to his weekend home or golf, but that's the way the cookie crumbles.
