Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Already liking nation red. Love when games support eyefinity with no hassle. even the free but fun Nitronic Rush supported it yet million dollar games fail to even consider it. Im looking at you Call of duty. 5 games on the same engine and still no native eyefinity support.
I think TB is having a bit too much fun with this one. o_O Don't think I've ever seen him so excited, lol.

But, yeah. Nation Red have been receiving tons of content updates since he did that WTF video. The most recent one (on the 10th) added a drop-in/drop-out feature for co-op games. Quite honestly, I'm proud to have bought this game to support a developer who still listens to their community.
Yeah, that is one reason I am really glad I bought it. The developer does care about the game.

I just tried it and it's fun. It's something I can play in 20 minute spurts but that's the good thing. It's a game where I can play because I want to shoot the shit out of something but I don't want to have to think about how to navigate a level, I just want to shoot . Basically, it's anger/stress relief for me, lol.

The steam deal is pretty good for Dead Space 2, but with the coupon it is a no brainer even with Origin. (which isnt worth using unless you play their games alot)

Will probably try out Nation Red to see it is my cup of tea.
I thought Bejeweled 3 was worth the money. Lots of modes, and it looks great on PC. Sure beats playing it on 360. Match 3s belong on PC.
^------ QFT. Am I the only one who thinks the music is a little eccentric?? It doesnt seem to fit this type of game.

Just got done playing Nation Red for about 3 hours and I agree with all this. Even played some co-op with randoms, which I don't normally do, and enjoyed it. We made it to level 29 and it was good fun. Some of the achievements are crazy though...kill 1 million zombies??? :D

I bought Nation Red quite a while ago and have not played it at all. I went to try it today seeing all of the praise only to find that mine is unplayable. It will not let me get into any game mode; the menu options simply disappear and it won't let me pick anything.

I am running Win 7 x64 and swore I loaded it up when I bought it to see that it ran and it did. I have no idea what is up now.

I tried it out several months ago (summer sale probably) and it ran just fine for me. I also have Win7 (64-bit) and didn't have any issues other than I really stank at it ;)

Check out the game's Steam forum here. If that doesn't work try uninstalling then reinstalling it, or maybe check your video drivers. Good luck!

Before doing anything else, if you have a problem with a steam game verify the integrity of the game's cache.
If you get Dead Space 2 use the FXAA post-process injector for anti-aliasing. The game has poor internal AA and doing it through your drivers screws up the shadows.
I haven't installed this yet; is the FXAA post-process injector an option in the game's Option/Preferences menu? Thanks for sharing this tip!

I enjoy match 3s on a touch screen when the wife is watching something awful on the TV.

I am absolutely baffled by the love for Nation Red. I am clearly missing something. A friend and I played it together after buying it for a buck fifty over the summer, and we were astonished by how completely shitty the game is. The menus, the 'design', the weaponry, the controls, the graphics, the sound (oh God, the sound), the limited gameplay styles and modes....I could go on, but I think I covered every aspect of game design already. When the round ended or wahtever happens, we just sat there in mutual silence over our mics before we burst out laughing.
why is the price of Dead Space 2 is showing $15?? Is it a region thing?
Must be. It's $5 here in the US.

Went to cash in my Amazon coupon for Dead Space 2 for $0, but then I realized I already own it on Steam! Haven't even beat the first, what the heck? So thanks for the heads up, I'll grab Civ 5 instead for $4.
Deus Ex HR Augmented is $14.98 on greenman.
It's also apparently $10 on BestBuy.com as a digital download. You may need to use some clunky best buy app to get your key out of it (According to one user in the thread), but it's Steamworks so it should still be $10 human revolution nonetheless!

I can't recommend Deus Ex HR enough. My top game of 2011.

It was $1.50 before? Damn, I would have bought a couple for my friends.

Saving a little bit of money isn't a big deal to me. Missing out on what I could find a fun game to play with friends is a little more disappointing. Though I doubt it'll be as good as the old days with mech games.

The 4 Pack is only slightly more per copy right now. I don't remember if I paid 2.50 or 5 for mine but it was worthy every cent.

Looks like the Blackwell games are available to buy through Steam now, and they're currently on sale at 25% off ($3.74 for the older 3 and 7.49 for the newest). The first three were part of an Indie Royale bundle and came w/ Steam keys. Funny that they had achievements and everything even before they had their own store pages.

BB only has the vanilla version for $10 download, while the GMG is the Augmented version.

Ah, didn't know that the Aug version was for $15. That's definitely a nice price.

Just a note that the extra $5 nets you a digital art book, incomplete soundtrack (half the tracks or so of the CD release), and maybe a gift copy of the original Deus Ex. (Not sure if that was thanks to augmented edition, or just me preordering through Steam) None of the DLC is included.

While I enjoyed the Aug Edition, I could see most CAGs wanting to save the $5 and just go straight for vanilla Human Revolution.

That explains why they all updated last night. $5 and $10 seem like reasonable prices for them.
The Front Mission deal is a bust, you've been able to get a boxed copy (which registers on steam) from Amazon for $7 for months. I guess it's not bad for the DLC though.

Link for the interested: http://www.amazon.com/Front-Mission...J85M/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1326486089&sr=8-3
$7 is about what this game is worth. I just played some of the singleplayer and it's ok, but nothing really special about it. It's just your average action game singleplayer except you kill other mechs. I think the thing for me is they throw too many mechs at you. Not that the game is hard or anything but more so, I don't feel these mechs are powerful at all because they throw like 3-4 at a time and I can kill them in like 10 seconds per mech.

Awesome! I just finished the 3 I got from the IndieRoyale bundle and have been wondering/hoping the 4th game would show up on steam eventually. Will be picking this up.

Thank you for expounding the difference between the two versions. None of the extras in the augmented edition are appealing to me.

The Aug edition is only really worth it if you buy the game retail because you get a physical art book, CD soundtrack etc.
Must be. It's $5 here in the US.
I see. It is incredible that EA can think that setting a 300% price tag for DS2 for my region is sensible.

Can someone help me get it in US?

Just to weigh in on the DX: HR discussion I recently finished playing it and I would say the preorder DLC they now sell (explosive and tactical packs) aren't really anything amazing even for the $1 you can get both at depending on discounts. The extra mission you get is only about 15ish minutes and the rest are just a few guns and extra in-game currency -- neither of which you need. Not much money, but, if you're weighing it I would say pass on it.

I will agree regarding Deus Ex and say you aren't missing anything if you don't get the preorder packs but the new items you get are kinda spread throughout the game. The prevalence of the preorder AUDs make runs where you don't even bother to level hacking feasible, but if you don't level hacking, what the hell ARE you leveling? Every Jensen is good at combat and stealth.

That said, DX:HR is one of those games that I think it's worth giving them the money.

The Missing Link DLC is absolutely worth buying though if you want another couple of dungeons.

I agree, there was one hack in the whole game I used the automated hacking tool on (don't want to spoil anything but it was the hardest hack in the game). The rest I hacked myself. The mission that came with the preorder pack was short and I never used the weapons because I was stealth.

Missing Link DLC is good. Not $14.99 good because it's only 4-5 hours tops, but still good.

I bought the Augmented Edition for full price basically (well with GS Credit) and I got my money's worth.

With that said I finally tried my $2 Alpha Protocol I got from the Sega Sale and wow, it's like a Deus Ex Ripoff which is fine because I was in the mood for a stealth action game except for the fact Stealth is kinda broken or so far it is. There isn't a way I can see that I can actually be stealthy without alerting guards. It's walk into a room, there are 7 guards in the room, each looking at some direction where if a guy goes down, they will know.
