We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.

Well, to be honest, I'm just assuming I got it and that Steam is glitched right now. the 4 of us all made it to wave 20 but died multiple times. If I in fact am incorrect and you have to survive to wave 20 on one life, I think I'm going to cry because that's hard.
 
First free gift was Day of Defeat: Source (no supposed second gift, assuming the wording isn't misleading). At least I can go for another gift with that since it has an objective.
Second was X3: Gold from the Orcs Must Die! achievement. Hallway is the first level, and you need to finish it once to get arrow walls.

Did some googling and found some people claiming the achievement is broken. Hopefully Valve retroactively fixes the problem. See the below thread on the steam forums.

picked up metro 2033 for $5. was really hoping for a 75% off FO3 GOTY but debating on it for 50%. looks like i'm going be spending alot more money during the next two weeks. :D

I would be shocked if it isn't a daily deal for 75% off. If you are going to check in daily, then I would hold off.

Just be patient neither of those are daily deals they could go down.
 
I want to find the people who designed the Bit.Trip games and nutpunch them so god damn hard. I cannot get these achievements and it is pissing me off.

Also, got coupons instead of games. Mannnnn.

Wait on Fallout 3. It will most certainly be a daily deal, and will most likely be 75% off. I bought it last year for $7.50.

I didn't care for Bunch of Heroes either. Find it meh at best and even with getting in on a 4pack I still don't feel it's worth it.

Both are now taken pending getting back to me/accepting Friend requests. If either person doesn't get back to me I'll go to the next on the list, but I've got about 8 in queue so no more PMS needed. Is everyone's inventory acting weird? I bought the 4 pack of Dead Island and already sent them all out (all have been redeemed already) yet i still have 2 that i can gift in my inventory.

Yup. Gifted my Portal 2 and now it's not showing in pending but I still have it available to give... have to confirm with him if he redeemed it.
 
I got 33% off a valve game. I'm trying to purchase the Portal bundle ($8.74) but it looks like the coupon isn't applying?? I looked at the FAQ and it said it should automatically apply. Also it shows as a game that's supported sooo.. what's the deal?

The coupon isn't valid until Jan. 2 unless you get a gold version.

Coupon isn't valid until January 2nd.
 
all I got was a fucking TF2 hat, 33% off Value and 50% off Oddworld Strangers Wrath neither of which can be used now... meh.
 
Bunch of Heroes is a horrible horrible game. I cant stress enough that its not worth the time or money. I cant even bring myself to play long enough to get the achievement. Honestly I feel like I could have spent $0.50 on that game and id feel ripped off. It feels like someone made a shitty ipad game then did a shit job porting it to steam.

It's in the Steam tab (unless it's a specific game item or something?). If you can't see that, you'll have to wait until the inventory issues are resolved.

So glad I skipped Bunch of Heroes. I had it in my cart as I love top-down shooters, but when I started reading about it, the feedback was horrible. I ended up ditching it and grabbing Edge instead. At least that developer stands behind their games.

You know, it looked interesting enough and was at a price point I was willing to try it, but as no one is standing up for Bunch of Heroes, I'm inclined not to buy it now. I'm sure I'll buy enough of other games I'll never play that I won't miss it.
 
I am on vacation away from the computer and have the iPad. I am somewhat bummed that I can't participate in the sale this year really in terms of the gift pile which could have some great things I bet. Oh well, I did get the free gift thing and it was Half Life 2. At least I got something!
 
A friend of mine raised an interesting point. Lots of people are getting these crappy coupons but no one is getting coal. Maybe the programing is messed up and we are supposed to be getting both? Like anytime you get a piece of coal you were also supposed to get the coupon, but since its bugged we are just getting coupons no coal.

I hope you're right. I'd take the coal over the coupons any day.

Yeah I was wondering about the coal as well. Or perhaps it is very rare, making the contest even harder to win.
 
I just checked my inventory, I have 50% off a valve game and 50% off Shadowgrounds Pack. I can't do any of the other objectives cause I don't own the required games. I don't know if I'll ever use those but it's better than nothing.
 
Are any of the other achievements (other than the Orcs one) easy to achieve?

Also, I noticed that I have a Portal 2 tab but it's empty. Haven't noticed it before, and I'm due an achievement. Does everyone have the tab?

I never buy anything on Steam that isn't apart of one of their big yearly sales unless it's day 1 purchase for me. Skyrim for example.
 
Ok so Fable doesn't have native controller support. But, on the other hand if you don't mind using a few workarounds it's workable with the controller. The only thing you will need a mouse for is the menus which wont be a huge problem I don't think.

Anyway just get Joy 2 Key

You can remap the mouse and keyboard to it and all the other functions, works great. There is an option when you create a config to switch it from U,D,L,R to the axis of the gamepad. Works great. The only thing you need to use the mouse on the menus but it shouldn't be any problem.

Although it's kinda weird how the port works, they allow you to select your resolution which is fine, but your resolution only works in game, not at the start menu. Very odd. So those are my experiences with Fable on the PC.
 
I plan on picking up Magic the Gathering (new and old with all the packs, none of the foils or unlocks) and Bejeweled. Is this a good time to get them or is there a decent chance they'll be cheaper pretty soon. No hurry, new to Steam deals though.
