We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Opposing Force CD-keys cannot be registered through Steam. Opposing Force was included in a retail Half-Life package. The Half-Life CD-key included in the package will unlock all of the games in that package, including Opposing Force.
Note: Only the retail games listed above can be registered through Steam. No other retail games can be registered and downloaded using Steam.

Bookmarked that. When you do those achievements now you get credit when they are up right? I might need to do a few of them tomorrow.

I was thinking something sort of along those lines, except that I think that anyone who simply got nothing for a few of the achievements was supposed to get coal. That is, when your gift was generated, if it was a game or coupon, you received it, but if your dice roll came up as coal then you didn't receive a thing.

I'm done checking to see if things appear for the night. Hopefully tomorrow afternoon I'll have my missing gifts (and my Portal 2 tab that vanished some three hours ago or so).
 
50% off for a Valve game... Left For Dead 2 is the only thing I could see myself getting... but I don't even want it at $9. OR is it 50% off of $9?
 
Man, Steam is REALLY borked for me. Almost 12 hours after the sale starts, I still don't have my "free' coupon, and now I can't even see the objectives - the Great Gift Pile page just has a pop up that tells me how to play, but when I click "let's get started", it just pops back up again.

So frustrating, because I really enjoy these sales, as much for the objectives and the achievements as anything else. Really hoping that this gets figured out sooner than later - definitely expected it to be figured out by now.

I don't think so. I did the Dungeons of Dreadmor one today and it didn't unlock an achievement.

Exit steam, restart your computer and power cycle your router/modem. That's what worked for me.

Yes, at least as far as the achievements existing. I knocked out several of them over the past couple of days.

I checked the Store about 12:30PM and expected FUBAR; just wanted a peek. After a whole day out shopping and whatnot, easier to deal with it 12 hours later.

Fantastic, I am getting SW TOR for Christmas and well if I can knock out a few of these now and save me the trouble it would not make me have to stop playing TOR just for a few achievements.

Also nothing yet on the inventory, but I just want it fixed before tomorrow's dailies if possible. Knowing my luck I have a gold token for something I will buy tomorrow.

I was looking at my email receipt for the Squeenix pack (Square Holiday Pack (NA)) I bought almost a year ago, comparing it in price (75 then versus 100 now) and content (no Deus Ex:HR or Dungeon Siege 3 + dlcs then) and I noticed the date is Feb 21. The holiday sale didn't last that long, did it? Did they extend or re-run something? i r confoosed.

edit: I dug through our Steam thread v.1 and found it. Back in Feb '11 there was a Square Enix week and there was a discount on the pack. Interestingly, back then, Squeenix was the publisher for Batman: Arkham Asylum and it was in the pack; now it's not. It's published by and in the WB pack.

Man, I'm trying to buy Portal 2 with 25% off valve coupon, but it definitely isn't applying automatically like it said it would.

I also got a 50% off Metro 2033 coupon, but I have that game already.

Just bought Orcs Must Die. Any thoughts on the DLC?

I've heard that Artifacts of Power makes the game too easy. I might just pass on that one right now. If I did buy it though, I'd probably gift it to myself and wait until I've finished the OMD before I attach it to my game.

What about Lost Adventures? Is it worth the extra buck?
 
I got the Orcs Must Die plus DLC. I'd say the extra maps are good. The weapons are kinda OP but you might want them when the game gets harder and you wish you had them to fall back on.
 
I just checked to see what my free gift was and I got a coupon for 75% off CoD 4 and 25% of any valve title. I own pretty much all the Valve titles I need, and don't need the CoD coupon. coupons are up for trade if anyone is interested.

Pretty much how I feel. I anticipate I'll buy enough games in the next couple weeks to even consider buying anything over the next three months.

You can turn coal into gifts, sort of wish you could turn coupons into coal. I think I'd rather have a chance at the drawing (as incredibly small as that is) than have a bunch of useless coupons.

I just used the Portal 2 method and it worked like a charm. I got a lump of coal and 50% off a valve game. Valve must be trolling me because I bought the valve complete pack during their last sale so I already own every valve game. :/

+1, spent about 15 minutes on 1-6 and you can only get 3/4 of the way through the level and die so many times before you question what you're doing. I'm really not seeing the appeal of the Bit.Trip games, they substitute actual difficulty with really long levels that just make you start over again.

A lot of the gifts that aren't showing are coal, but not all of them. I got a coupon that didn't show before using the TF2 fix.

Also got a 33% off skyrim coupon.
