Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V2! You can find the V1 thread (2010-July 2011) here. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Steam Games and DLC on Sale - Updated 2/12

Preorder Deals - Updated 2/12

Group Buys - Updated 07/23

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.
Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:
Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
bioware sells the dlc through their own store and it has gone on sale exactly one time, sort of. origin had bioware points on sale (50%) a couple of months ago that could then be used to buy the dlc from bioware's site.
Ok thanks. Is there a thread on cag or something I can watch for a future sale like that? I own all three versions of ME2 (it's my favorite game this gen) but have yet to pick up the dlc for PC.
Space Marine -25
ME1/2 - 5 each
Blur -5
Silent Hill HC - 10
Skydrift- 5
Operation Flashpoint: Red River - 9
Torchlight -3.74
Avadon Black Fortrss -2.50
Divinty II - 10
Limbo - 2.5
Brink - 5
Alien Breed Trilogy - 8 or each game for 2.5

Alot of the same stuff.
Thanks!
There's also a single player version that has some kind of a story ;)
The Ship's single-player mode is really just a training with bots for the multi-player mode. It sort of has a story, but it's more about learning the mechanics of the game. I believe Steam had a "The Ship" demo at one point, and it was simply this entire single-player mission.

Mind you, the MP mode is just bots too, these days. Would be great if this game found a new audience.

Is EYE the only unadvertised deal today?

Serious? Damn! Amazon's DD deals have been beating my wallet down hard this month.

Thoughts on EYE? Is it like Deus Ex 1?

Awesome!

Now to replace it on my wishlist so that I have 10 items on there again.:booty:

I haven't seen anyone mention it but the Sale ends on the 2nd correct? Does this mean that we all get a one day or rather half a day overlap with our coupons? I could see some pretty sweet deals those last few hours.

Ugh, another day without interesting offers. All I can hope for is a sale ticket for skyrim, it seems. But since alot of the achievement games seem boring to me, there's a small chance at that.
Almost bought 2 Torchlights and then scrolled down to see it doesn't have multiplayer, wow. Will I never find a multiplayer Diablo 2 like game?
A game that isn't Diablo with Diablo like multiplayer? Titan Quest

A game that is Diablo, but not Diablo 2? Diablo 3

I also think the devs of Titan Quest are making another game similar to it (although they are under a new name if I'm not mistaken).
Almost bought 2 Torchlights and then scrolled down to see it doesn't have multiplayer, wow. Will I never find a multiplayer Diablo 2 like game?
Torchlight 2 will have multiplayer (coming out soon for very low price). Also, you might consider Titan Quest (gold edition) if you want a Diablo 2 type of game with multiplayer. Its very good.
Ugh, another day without interesting offers. All I can hope for is a sale ticket for skyrim, it seems. But since alot of the achievement games seem boring to me, there's a small chance at that.
Yeah, I'd love a Skyrim sale ticket. And I definitely have some games in my inventory that are ONLY installed during sale periods to get achievements. *cough*The Polynomial*cough*

Still, it's a good incentive to try out some of the games if you have them. I think that's one of the reasons I enjoy these objectives so much - gives me reasons to play games for short periods for very well defined objectives. Makes me feel like I accomplish something while giving me a chance to see if I like the game well enough to play more of it in the future.

Guess this is the page to look for $9.99 Deus Ex HR?
http://www.amazon.com/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution-Pc/dp/B002I0HKRQ

Man, if their Augmented Edition doesn't go on sale, you can still get it from Gamers Gate for $12 compared to their current $99.99 on amazon YEEE HAWWWW !!

My ISP is gonna hate my ass. already downloaded like 50+ GB... O.O!!!! gotta watch for 100GB in the same month
can't imagine how they feel about those who get the dev packs.... ISP: Have mercy!!! 400GB in 1 week!!

Deus Ex HR is now 66% off at Gamersgate instead of 80%, maybe they made a mistake? I was able to get it though. Anyway, if anyone missed it at Amazon the download is now even cheaper ($9.99). It's Steamworks.

sadly I missed the Deus Ex dlc for $3, which has gone up to 5. Still might get it but I am just glad I was able to snag E.Y.E. for $2.50.

Whew, glad I picked up The Missing Link while the getting was good.

Picked up SkyDrift for today as I saw the WTF is for it and it looks rather fun. Kind of like an air version of Blur.

Could have sworn Monday Night Combat was $5 for most of yesterday, but just noticed it's got 2 hours left at the price of $2.49. Could be wrong
How do you find the unadvertised deals?
Here is what I do. I put any games I have any remote interest in buying on my wishlist. When the dailies drop, look through the dailies then hit up my wishlist. If anything I want is unadvertised, it will show up on the wishlist with x amount off.

I tend to check my wishlist first as it'll show me prices on what I want faster than the front page of the store.

But today I was eyeballs-deep in getting Ice Cream Sandwich working on a Kindle Fire so I totally missed E.Y.E. :p

I've only played for an hour or so and it was pretty broken at the time but it's a PC-ass PC-game and I tend to love those.
Click on the PC Download link, and you will see the price has been updated.
Ahhhhhhh! The Augmented Edition still stands at $29.99 on amazon. GamersGate had it for $12.23. Just barely got the deal and checked paypal to confirm the price. I am a happy camper!!!

Still that $9 is a steal right now for the core game! Worthy of a deal for those who missed GamersGate. However, the Augmented Edition is still $20 on GamersGate, even with only 66% off instead of 80%. A lot of bonus content like the making, soundtrack, etc.

Found in your steam folder:
X:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\deus ex - human revolution\AugmentedEditionContent

Deus Ex: Human Revolution for:

$9.99 ($29.99 Augmented Edition) on Amazon (PC Download Link - NOT PC Link)
http://www.amazon.com/Deus-Ex-Human-Revolution-Pc/dp/B002I0HKRQ?tag=cheapassgam08-20

$20.38 Augmented Edition on GamersGate
http://www.gamersgate.com/DD-DEHRAE/deus-ex-human-revolution-augmented-edition

Again, both are SteamWorks so they give you CD-Keys that register with Steam if you missed that

The Augmented Edition contains additional bonus content including:

 • Exclusive 40-page Artbook - Showcasing the concepts behind the world of 2027. Discover the origins of the design, the characters and the weapons of Deus Ex: Human Revolution
 • 44-minute making-of chronicling the trials and tribulations of the Eidos-Montreal team
 • Motion comic based on the first issue of the DC Comics adaptation
 • Game soundtrack composed by Michael McCann
 • E3 Trailer and animated storyboard
Almost bought 2 Torchlights and then scrolled down to see it doesn't have multiplayer, wow. Will I never find a multiplayer Diablo 2 like game?
They're Making a sequel that will have multiplayer. P.S: The guy who headed torchlight is the guy who headed Diablo I and II.

According to the achievement wiki, Santa won't appear in Defcon until Christmas Eve, so you need to change the date on your computer? Is that actually true? I'm skeptical that Steam would have TODAY'S achievement be for something that doesn't happen for another two days (without messing with your system).
There are no gameplay bonuses or items on the Augmented are there ? just the soundtrack and behind the scenes items ?
yeah, just those. No additional gameplay or items as far as I know. So it's nothing too major.

BTW, I also do that, but for the past couple of days the games on my wishlist show no price at all. This is when I'm logged in my Steam client. Is it just me?
There are no gameplay bonuses or items on the Augmented are there ? just the soundtrack and behind the scenes items ?
Correct, just non-game collectors items and thats why I went with the normal version myself. I have a feeling the "making of" video is on youtube anyways, but I haven't checked into this myself so maybe its not there.
Anyone have any thoughts on Torchlight?
Terrific game. It's my favorite hack-and-slash RPG from the last several years. I spent 104 hours with it and enjoyed every second. Absolutely worth the price. Go for it!

It happened to me for a day or so. My wishlist is fine now, though.

You don't need to change your date. I did it myself not to long ago, he shows up in the game just fine now. That information is just inaccurate.

Ghaaaaa! I had everything in my cart too! The site has been really, really slow today and kept on locking up my browser. Curse you GamersGate!

and my steam client is still f**ked up for the third day in a row. Tried reinstalling but still have same problems. This is so annoying...

Don't think Divinity activates on Steam, but it is DRM free after the DRM removal patch released in November.

When I did the DEFCON one I set my system date to the 24th to be safe. I would just in case because you can always change it back.

Also Cave Story+ just got a new sountrack. It's a remastered new version of the old soundtrack.

Man, the $10 Amazon GC is burning a hole in my digital wallet, but I'd really prefer the Augmented Edition of DE:HR.

On the wishlist, I didn't realize until recently that you can reorder things by typing in the number instead of the slow-ass click and drag method. D'oh.

Agreed with the above. Especially if you like Diablo.
