Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

In addition to the free weekend, the Left 4 Dead series is on sale of course.

The bundle of both games is $7.49
Each game is $4.99
4-packs of each are $14.99

Today's deal is Deponia at 50% off ($9.99)

Daedalic Entertainment, once called “Lucasarts from Germany“ by the GameStar magazine, invites the players into a fantastic comedy adventure that revolves around a crazy love story of Rufus and Goal. In Deponia, the world has degenerated into a vast garbage dump, in which the crotchety Rufus ekes out his sorry existence.
Genre: Adventure, Indie

I wonder if there is ever a chance the L4D double pack will ever drop lower than that. I doubt it. Also, am I right that the PC versions include all the DLC they try to charge for in the 360 version?

Aren't the majority of the L4D maps already L4D2 dlc? Why wait for a L4D sale? L4D2 is far superior than 1 and from my understanding yes the dlc is free.

PC DLC is free. Microsoft doesn't like letting devs give stuff away.

They keep showing L4D2 when they talk about Steam for Linux. I bet they give it away free to beta testers, and maybe everyone when it goes live like Portal and Steam for Mac?

Deadlight is now available and 15% ($12.74) off until November 1st.

The world has ended. There is no hope. No new beginning. Only the survivors. DEADLIGHT follows the journey of Randall Wayne, a man searching for his family across Seattle during the aftermath of a 1980s event that has decimated life on earth.
Genre: Action, Adventure, Indie, Platformer

Well, I may be wrong, but they are still two different games with different characters right? I mean the maps might be playable in 2, but I still would want to play 1 through by itself again.

Thanks for the info. Might finally bite on the duo. I have them on the 360, but the DLC is so much it's cheaper to just rebuy on Steam.

Waiting for this one to drop to 75% (I know, it just came to Steam)

Also, Rock of Ages has a free weekend for MP, whatever the MP is for that game...

Pretty much the same as single player, except against another person rather than AI.

Trains vs Zombies 2 is now on Steam and 50% off ($8.99) until November 8th.

There’s something strange taking a bite out of New York in our ghoulish Halloween special, Trains vs. Zombies 2. New York City has been overrun by toxic slime, turning normal humans into mindless zombie-like creatures, and it is your job to rescue passengers from the Halloween nightmare that is taking over the Big Apple.

Don't you tempt me Louiedog!

But I haven't even gotten to the first Trains v. Zombies (damn you Railworks tutorial) so I will wait for this to drop in price.

All of the L4D1 campaigns are available in L4D2 and the L4D1 characters are playable in them.

At this point, the only difference is the L4D1 versions of the campaigns have less stuff.

http://groupees.com/damned
$1 = Cryostasis, Manor of the Damned
$4+ = Anna, Post Mortem, Blind Side (+$1 games)
Only Manor of the Damned and Blind Side are not steamable.

Pretty good bundle. I will surely pick up it at least for $4 just for Cryostasis.
Deponia is tempting, but I'm gonna wait for 75%.
Ya, I agree. This game has gotten very good reviews and I'm very eager to play it. However, I've also read that Deponia is pretty much 1/2 of a game. The ending of this title is not good. The "sequel" or 2nd half of the game is releasing soon. I'm more inclined to wait for a deal on everything.
dota2gifts is slow as hell
It's seriously gotten to the point where I don't even bother with SG anymore. I had to put DOTA2 on ignore from my list, but all that happens now is your points hit 300 really fast because of the million DOTA 2 giveaways but there is is very little to spend it on/enter.

They should really zero out the contributor value on DOTA 2.
dota2gifts is slow as hell
What's with the Dota 2 influx?

I thought maybe they gave out more gifts to people that had it, but I checked my inventory and don't have anything new.

Why are there thousands of copies on steamgifts lately?

Lots of people who owned the game got giftable copies, just not everyone. I didn't either. Maybe because I've never even install it. Maybe because I have Dota 2 test and not Dota?

I posted this earlier but I use this site now. Just glance it over, see if there's anything good and call it a day. It's not perfect (there's no way to tell if you're already entered, for instance and you can't see group give-aways) but it sure beats infinite DOTA 2.

r/DOTA2Trade is full of the invites as well.

Not sure what exactly was the parameters of the extra invites but I know it wasn't entirely for all those within the beta as well. I got mine a ~year ago from a buddy who had gotten it from a LAN in WA. He may have gotten some extra invites but the giftees didn't.

It's about time it get open for all. Considering two massive tournaments and years of development. Not sure why it wasn't open for all during TI2.
At this point I'd rather see steamgifts now allow Dota 2 giveaways. It's gotten way out of hand.
I think you meant not allow. That and The Ship are clogging that place up. I rarely enter public giveaways anyway, but now I don't even look. I'll pop on for a group giveaway, check my created, then get out.

Got this from Newegg for $1.99. Don't think a Steam sale will ever beat this:

Should've ordered more than one when it went up, but I was skeptical. Next time I'm going nuts.

How did you get that for 1.99? I'm not understanding. Shouldn't it have come with a graphics card?

Please, do tell. ;)

I heard of a Newegg sale on these, but I missed it.

I wonder if they will do this with the newer AMD giveaway cards. Insane price for a new game. Steam or any other site will ever come close.

Edit:
And the deal is some retailers sometimes sell the giveaway code cards after the promo ends for super cheap. I think Tiger direct has done it before, but it is obviously very rare and sell out quick.

Best deal I got once was Officemax sent me the Pure/Lego Batman 360 double disc from the winter promo bundle for like $2 shipped.
How did you get that for 1.99? I'm not understanding. Shouldn't it have come with a graphics card?
I believe newegg opened the promo packs and sold off the vouchers that came with vid cards in this instance.

Edit: also looks like steamgifts has added feature to hide games you own, so win yourself a copy of dota2 and it will stop showing.

I just entered a decent probability one just so it stops showing up. I have 0 interest in playing it.

Edit 2: success! I hope he sends it quick so i can view actual giveaways.
How did you get that for 1.99? I'm not understanding. Shouldn't it have come with a graphics card?
Normally, yes. I think they sold leftovers they had(like from graphic cards that were purchased by companies. Those have obviously no need for the game keys so they let newegg keep them)

Yeah, I got in on this as well. Only I had to pay $1.99 shipping, so it came to $3.98.

Still, that's a price that I can live with. :D

The price on the new AMD bundle cards is $49.99 which is charged and deducted as a promo when you buy the card. So, if they do wind up with extra cards, they'll probably be $50 and not $1.99.

Still, $50 would be a hell of a deal for Far Cry 3, Hitman: Absolution & Sleeping Dogs assuming it happens before the individual games are going on sale for less than $15 each.

Has anyone played either Anna or Post Mortem and have an opinion to share? Reviews aren't all that kind to either (Anna reviewed much worse though) and they both seem to have their share of issues. However maybe there's fun underneath the rough edges or the desire to watch a train crashing in slow motion.
How did you guys find out about the BL2 voucher? Just randomly checked Newegg?
I found out about it because I'm a member of the Traders Guild Steam group and somebody posted a message there. I just happened to be sitting on my couch with my laptop when the little message notice popped up.
Blergh, need to alert us masses about $2 Borderlands!
I was gonna post it here, but it sold out before I could. I don't know when most people found out about it, but it sold out 3 minutes after I saw it posted.
