Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Once you understand the weaknesses, it's mostly very easy. For example, it's rare for me to incur damage on the boss
on the first form, and next to no damage on the second form. Cloak helps, but isn't necessary. Teleport is almost required, unless you have a ton of missiles or ion weapons.
I JUST beat the boss (like 5 minutes ago). First thing I did was a lap around the house fistpumping singing We are the Champions.... on easy...

Seriously though, that boss fight had DESTROYED ME multiple times... this time, it was cake.
I loaded up the Torus with 3 Anti-Ship Is and 2 Ion IIs and a firebeam. Shields first, then weapons. Stage 2, Shields, then Droids, then weaps. Stage 3 Shields then weapons. When they invaded, tried to vent the air on them and only move my crew at the last minute. As soon as they moved on, I'd run the crew around the other side and re-man their stations. No cloak, no teleport, and my shields were 3, and engines were 5 bars.

This game was worth it in SO MANY WAYS. I just wanted to make sure all CAG'rs knew about it.

Wait, is there something ebil about digital over the air television signals? Are they secretly embedding Facebooks feeds? Is that why I suddenly feel the urge to go poke someone after watching TV on my digital antenna?

I prefer being able to proclaim with righteous zeal that I've never had a facebook account. Purity > free cookies. Besides, I've held out this long; why buckle now?

I can proclaim with righteous zeal to people on the internet I don't know and who have no way of verifying it that I do not have a Facebook account. My imaginary friend however is quite another matter. ;)

It's pretty much the new Magicka at this point. All it needs now is lots of useless DLC that gets released every 5 minutes and give it even more excuse to go on sale.

That's a little extreme. It's more like making an account at a place like greenmangaming or gog just to get the emails/coupon codes because one day you might actually want something from there. Don't even want the emails? use a fake google account. I have 12 (made during my initial purchases from the PSN store deals being different in every region). To each his/her own.

This looks very interesting. Graphic novels and adventures are right up my alley.

Is Street Fighter x Tekken good at that price? I heard some bad things about it on console (apparently sometimes bricking it?). Haven't really played fighters since the initial release of MvC, and I'm more of a casual fan of fighters. Is this a good buy?

If it makes you feel any better, it does not work on digital downloads, only boxed retail items.
So is the spoiler tag the best way to do a key dump now without getting them silently lurked? I feel like I did the at while back and it did get mute lurked.
Well if your goal is to make absolutely sure that the code doesn't get lurked, you just announce that you have such & such a game and you'll PM the code to whoever first quotes and responds to your post. That way you both know that the key was used, and who got it. You're also likely to get a thanks that way.

Of course, a lot of people can't be bothered or don't really care if it gets lurked, so they just drop the code.

For the record, a spoiler tag offers no protection against getting lurked though. People without accounts can still hit the spoiler tag thing. Try logging out and you'll see that you can still see what's behind a spoiler tag.

Amazon sucks money out of my pockets for most anything so I feel no better now then I did before your post. Thanks for trying though. :)

Hiding it in a tag in your post works well, as you have to be logged in to quote the post and see the code to redeem it.

Quote my post for an example.

You would put the code here, for example
Didn't take long at all for the guy I gifted my Desura code of DP to to redeem that Steam key.

If you gifted the game to him, it's rightfully his, is it not?

Now if you gifted it to him, and took the steam code, that would be a dick move.
Gifted the Desura code to him. Not the game.
It could be pretty reasonably argued that after gifting the Desura code to him, essentially your license for the game, going on to the redeem the Steam code would be rather unethical. It would be no different than burning him a copy of the game.

Wow, for once I'm actually glad I didn't have a game. I have Alan Wake on GOG and not Steam, so I was able to use the Death Rally coupon now.

Also, reading through the pages it took me quite awhile to realize asheskitty was asheskitty. We need announcements for these avatar changes!
It could be pretty reasonably argued that after gifting the Desura code to him, essentially your license for the game, going on to the redeem the Steam code would be rather unethical. It would be no different than burning him a copy of the game.
Literally anything could be argued and no small amount of conjecture can be pretty reasonably argued but if we went down that road we'd spend half the thread arguing over the definition of so many other pointless terms, the nature of offering alternate means of download, what constitutes a license in a bundle like this, and whether anyone cares and then I would yell at both of us for this not being deals related. And nobody would get convinced and a lot of people would just be annoyed.
Gifted the Desura code to him. Not the game.
'Gifting' someone the Desura code from an IG bundle gives them the bundle. :whistle2:o
Gifted the Desura code to him. Not the game.
If it was a Desura code from an IR bundle you gifted the bundle to him. You may have first used the steam keys in it, but he received the entire bundle. (Assuming that IR Desura codes worked then like they work now.) IR Desura keys aren't just keys that redeem games. (It's also possible that steam key was listed in his Desura game list. I can access some Steam keys from my Desura game list.)

Of course it would have been polite for him to ask you what should happen with that code, assuming he remembered why exactly he had that game and/or bundle.

Actually, firefox has issues with seeing anything like that in a post. I can't see what you left. I remeber Tony in the Amazon thread trying to do this, but people had to change browsers to see it. I find it too much of a hassle, so I just code drop. It was a free code that I got knowing I already had the game. I got the code with the full intention of dropping it in this thread. Not worth making a SteamGift giveaway (even if limited to the CAG group) just so people could claim I was doing it to inflate my Contributor value. I drop extra codes from bundles I buy in this thread all the time, don't really care if they get lurked. I've seen enough regs grab codes that it's just fun to randomly throw them out. This thread alone has over 600,000 views, and there's what 20, maybe 30 of us that continually post. Lurk away, young ones. One day you'll join us.

IMO, it needs more content for single player or an online multiplayer mode. $3 though, so I guess I'm not allowed to expect more.

There is no game I regret purchasing more for my 360 than SFxT. If you're looking at it for Steam wait until they finally release the DLC characters and then wait for the whole thing to be discounted to $12.50 or lower.
Online was never fixed in SxT
So there's no online for the PC version of SxT? Tempted by the Steam Deal as Capcom can sometimes be stingy with deals but always considered fighting games to be a console-type and not sure of the PC experience of SxT.

Yeah, they've been saying it would be out on Steam since October or so, claiming MS approval is holding it up or something. The game should've just been a Sony exclusive for the way they've handled the other platforms.

You were doing it to inflate your Steamgifts value!

I kid, I kid! ;)

I didn't see what he posted either at least on the version of IE they run at work.

Too complicated.

Anyway, anyone who's my Steam friend (which is like totally different from a Facebook friend) might want to check the friend feed. Y'all probably have most of them anyway but still...

Rarely do games go above 75% discount on steam. Just saying. Its also unlikely they will cut the msrp for the game...

So probably not.

Personally I would stay way as I hear the communities kinda dead. SF4AE is the better fighter to be had, consoles or pc.
Any chance SxT will get a bigger discount during the winter sale?
Unless they suddenly drop the retail price before Christmas, which I don't see them doing, it's highly unlikely.

75% is usually the lowest discount you will get on a game even during the big sales on Steam. Capcom also up until very recently was very chintzy with their sales and pretty much never went below 50%.
Wasn't there SxT DLC for additional characters on Xbox/PS3?
Capcom says every few weeks it's coming. This has been going on a little before the Vita release. I will never buy another Capcom PC title until they change their ways.

I don't understand Street Fighter IV 4AE 2012 was a great port, what happened here?

Ok, just finished TWD and holy crap...what an experience! I want to play through it again, but I need to wait a little as I'm currently too wrought with emotion.

Question, if I have PS3 Fightsticks, can I use them on the PC? They connect through USB, so I'd imagine that even if they weren't as simple as plug and play, there may be a way still to connect them (perhaps through MotioninJoy?)

That may sway me into purchasing SFxT, though probably not if the online multiplayer hasn't been properly implemented. Part of me just doesn't want to pass up on a deal... I have a problem -__-

how long did it take you?

I'd say the going average of 2 hours per episode is more or less on par. More or less depending on if you inspect everything there is to inspect or not.
So there's no online for the PC version of SxT? Tempted by the Steam Deal as Capcom can sometimes be stingy with deals but always considered fighting games to be a console-type and not sure of the PC experience of SxT.
Online is broken to death, I can't overstate this enough. Even if both players have excellent connections it will lag and frame skip all over the place.

So if a person jumps, 1 second later they are behind you on the ground.

I doubt the PC version ever gets the 2013 update patch if we never got the regular 2012 patches.

It's pretty bad, I keep thinking it's a setup for full price DLC. I leaning towards holding off, but I've been interested in this since it launched.

If I remember correctly, it's just plug and play.
