Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Well, I just fired up NecroVisioN last night (yes, the N is capitalized too).

What am I talking about again?
I am so playing that game when I get home, it sounds awesomeful.

I tried giving a hint...

And contribute more besides getting free keys and bitching about them and maybe someone will gift you something nicer.

Ahhhhhhh, the Metro. I think what made Fallout 3 so great for me is I lived there for a bit. I think the attention to detail made the world much more interesting to me. It helped that Bethesda is in Rockville and had the source material essentially right down the road.

Well, for the record, Mr. Gams, I thought your giveaway was as kind as it was clever.

;) Thank you.
=[ was hopeing it was something good but it was just metro
Implying Metro isn't good. If you stick around and aim to do more than just grab free games then you might actually stand to get something good from somebody, whether a drop or a gift. Hell even a good recommendation for a game.

In other news, I've had my eyes on Don't Starve. A few bucks shaved off the price and an extra copy is always nice but I'm willing to wait on it.

So i played some Waking Mars last night and its pretty cool. Its all about exploring and planting these plants, its not a shooter but its got some cool sci fi stuff in it. I only payed 1 buck for it so im happy, i woulndt really pay 10 for i though. Im gonna try out Party of Sin and i'll let u guys know how that is. The file size is only 505 mb. Happy Hanukkah to my jewish homies out there!
Well, for the record, Mr. Gams, I thought your giveaway was as kind as it was clever.
I liked it, as well.
And I already owned Metro for quite some time!
I should finish it, some time...
You're alright by me, Seymour
Nice. I have an old friend yell "EAT ME" every time I see him... little awkward in public.

Code is still good, just had it.

I was hoping it was something good, but it was just NecroVisioN.

Jk, thank you Bard ;)

Gotta say I hate the random ones -- I never try to redeem them because it could be something I don't want and all I've done is just deprive some other dude of a key! Not that there are many games left I don't have that I actually do want~

Changed mine to make it slightly more obvious.

Oh and thanks for God of War 3.
Oh, come on, give me a hint!
Too bad. No more hints. Figure it out the tough way. Like with math, an abacus, bunsen burners and beakers and . . . stuff.

Why are people mincing around? Dude, you're an asshole, and you should fuck off with that attitude.

Subtle, like a T-rex.
I lived in a time called cretaceous, good gracious. That just means a long time ago. I'm king of the cretaceous, that's the rex in my name. But tyrannosaurus is a mouthful, I'm a T-Rex all the same.

hmm, my first impression of that guy's post was that it was a lame attempt at humor. After all, Seymour's hint wasn't all that subtle. I thought he was either just pretending not to know what it was, or he was using the chance to take a shot at the game Metro 2033.

After seeing everybody else's response to him though, I guess I was probably wrong. If you guys are right, it was kinda a dick move to bitch about a give away. He's lucky that he didn't end up with Bad Rats.

Speaking of Bad Rats, I still have that key I offered earlier. Anybody want it?

^ I just finished the whole thing (Bad Rats), and while by no means is it not a bad game, it's not nearly as awful as everyone makes it out to be.
^ I just finished the whole thing (Bad Rats), and while by no means is it not a bad game, it's not nearly as awful as everyone makes it out to be.
I don't know. It does look pretty fucking horrible.
By the way, that is laughing, right? As in, "I laugh at the notion that anyone would want that game".

It wasn't supposed to be a smiley face (as in "yes please") and you just hit the wrong smiley, right?

I just bought FTL after seeing it on sale and hearing all this GOTY hype. Its a good game, I get it what its trying to achieve and etc but I dont see why this game deserved GOTY tho.
I tend to think everyone actually is their avatar or signature.

For example, I'm under the impression that Genocidal actually is the late Eddie Guerrero.

Of course on some days I think he's Locke from Final Fantasy VI.

RollingSkull is a very smug Pheonix Wright.

Mooby is a slobbering golem that loves RPGs.

And asheskitty is a shapeshifter. Though before that she was invisible.

Serious Sam is now Wolfenstein.

And I am very tired.
I wish I was the pilot of Gaiking if that's any consolation.

Yes it is. I thought it must be hyperbole and installed it myself last week.

It is that bad. A puzzle game needs consistency on how things work. When a solution fails in Bad Rats, you really have no idea if it was because you need to tweak placements or because it just randomly didn't work that time.

Add to that a rather limited set of objects to work with for the puzzles, quickly leading to boredom.

It is that bad. Pity, as a game with that concept could work. They just did everything wrong in the execution of the concept.

You fall right in line. Ha ha.

I don't look unlike Rick Grimes, btw. Though I still have (spoiler, spoiler, spoiler).

I found that while there was an element of randomness (which, yes, is really inexcusable), there was a finite amount of deviance. After pulling the trigger 3 or 4 times, you got an idea if you needed to move something. In getting all the achievements, I hit the play button a lot.

But yeah, they executed piss-poorly everywhere.

I don't have a lot of experience with physics puzzlers (I don't think Portal counts for this discussion), but I kept seeing Crazy Machines compared to Bad Rats, and I hope that series sees a reasonable discount soon.
So what are the odds that the daily deal next Friday is Revelations 2012?
I'm going to go with a flash sale of the entire Steam store for free because, fuck it, the world's gonna be over anyways

Non-Steam but the original classic Incredible Machine series is up on GOG for $5 right now during their holiday sale.

Is that Bad Rats offer still out there?

I originally typed something nicer and changed it after I looked at his posting history. To me that made it clear what kind of person I was dealing with.
