Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Deponia looks cool and definitely on my wishlist.

On related note, there's a sale on adventure a pack of adventure games http://www.summerbatch.co.uk/. Pay what you want (minimum is $0.50). Look okay but not on Steam but if you're into adventure games, its worth checking out.
I wanted to pick this up at 20% off but just didn't have it in the budget. If it goes 50% in winter sale I'll get it. Of course, 75% would be even better, but as a new game I doubt it hits that.
This person is selling copies of that game for $12 (so 40% off).

http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=283378

This isn't an advertisement or anything. I just noticed this last night and was thinking about picking a copy up for myself.
Nice! Thanks for mentioning it. I love that I've purchased 10 games from them without spending a single penny. Thanks for the free Scarygirl and FEAR 3, GMG. And for the $3 leftover credit. ;)

I know that when I choose to trade in for a game that costs money, the list of available trade-in titles pops up and gives a total credit value at the bottom. And you can check or un-check the titles you want to trade in. And that didn't even happen for me with this purchase. Don't blame the "system" for not paying attention during the checkout screen. Maybe you should look in your account and see if there's a setting for it.
5 down only need 15 more free games from GMG to pick up Skyrim

The phrasing makes it sound like Spirits is on Steam, right?

33 sales and the average is already $6.37. I'll wait to see if it comes way down, considering Spirits and Field Runners are the only games I don't have.

Today's deal is D&D Online: Menace of the Underdark at 50% off ($24.99)

D&D Online is free to play and this is content for it.

You will receive the Menace of the Underdark™ Expansion Adventure Packs, the Druid Class, Epic Destinies, and the Eveningstar Challenge Pack, plus access to the following items:

Greater Tome of Learning: Permanently increases experience earned by a character up to level 20. Provides +50% bonus to experience for first-time quest completions and +20% boost to other earned experience points. Stacks with other experience boosts and persists through all forms of reincarnation. (1 free tome per DDO game world)
1,000 Turbine Points: Enhance your adventure with 1,000 Turbine Points. Buy additional quests, cosmetic pets, experience boosts, buffs, and more.
Veteran Status (Level 4): Start new characters at level 4!
DDO Classics Adventure Pack Bundle: Includes Phiarlan Carnival, Attack on Stormreach, The Path of Inspiration, and The Dreaming Dark.

On Steam - surely, but still not on store.

Btw. I set an autorefreshing (5s) on HB website and observed something interesting. The bundle went live with >10 bundles sold (2 $50 purchases) and average price higher than $8. I doubt that 10 people could refresh website and went throught payment process in max 5s. It smells manipulation for me.

Wow, that was a quick turnaround time between Humble Bundles. It's hard to complain, though - I'm always looking for Tower Defense games, so, humorously enough, Fieldrunners caught my interest. Thus, a donation has been made.

EDIT:

I'm as curious as any other CAG on the issue. Nevertheless, I don't mind them messing with the numbers to keep the average high for the remaining title - They usually insist on approximately $7 for any bonus title(s).

When they start doing so to gouge the standard donator, then I'll start worrying. At the moment, they don't ask for much for those additional games, so I'm not going to push the issue. (Especially after that exploitation incident from several bundles back.)

A new King's Bounty game has been announced. There will be vikings. Sounds like it may be Steamworks too.

That's nice, only wait Greed is a free game so why would it even default to trading-in my game for credit towards a 0.00 balance? But obvisouly it is my fault for not knowing exactly how their system works :applause:

I mean when getting a free game I and others should expect to use any credit or trade-in's towards a balance of 0
To everyone talking about what kind of port Sleeping Dogs is, wouldn't you really have had to play the console version to speak on how well it was ported over? Not that it is any excuse for any bugs, but many times the console version is just as buggy.
You just have the blow on the cartridge contacts. ^_~
Also you are incorrect on Spirits, it is not currently out for Android and this bundle will be it's debut. The one you are thinking of is Spirit HD, which is not in this bundle.
I really don't understand the confusion on this. There have been multiple posts pointing to the iThingy game. HIB usually has new platform debuts, Spirits =/= Spirit HD. Most PC gamers I know are quite detail oriented, go figure.
I still have my stack of Half Life 2 retail discs. I think it was 7 discs.
Hmm, I just double checked mine. HL2 BlackBox 1 (DVD?) HL2 Orangebox 2 DVDs.
One particular thing I noticed is that if I'm using a controller (prefer it for driving/sprinting) and then set my controller down to start using keyboard and mouse in the middle of say a tutorial, it picks up the transition right away and instantly changes all of the tip icons to the K&M icons. I wish more games would transition this smoothly.
/agree However most games do pretty well, older games using DirectInput (e.g. Rumblepad 2) were less smooth in tutorial prompts. Most Xinput (360) games I've played handed the swap well -- major execption being Red Faction Guerrilla which can't handle switching between controller & KB+M without a trip to the options menu.
Back in my non-married days it was unimportant in the scheme of things to keep up with keys and passwords.
Its rather recoverable. I had to recover my account details via email between HL2 Black & Orange boxes.
You could probably recover the account by emailing Steam support. They'd probably just have you verify a couple of things on the account and you'd have it back in no time (3-5 days Steam Support time). ;)

I have bought a total of only 6 items from Steam since then, some of them being collections with multiple games, and 1 Steam game from GMG, all of which I would consider to have been at great prices...this is pretty good for me considering the bargain junky that I am. Anybody else been buying much lately or just trying to catch up on backlog?
Catching up with your backlog is like chasing after the horizon, it's about the path not the destination.
I just finished Deponia...holy crap everyone needs to try this game out. Funny as heck, awesome voice acting and a great story arc. Man I miss the old school games like this. Makes me want to break out the Journeyman series. Holy crap Journeyman needs an update.

Yep happened with my copy of High School Dreams. Be careful when buying Greed as your games are set to auto-tradein :wall: This is really an annoying system only good thing is I doubled what I payed for the game but would still rather have the game >.
That really sucks! Sorry about that. Thanks for the big warning. I will note that my trade ins were not auto-marked. And it seemed to go though okay for me.
:bouncy: Looks like they fixed it then, I know one other person was effected by it too. My guess now is it was because I got the free game early in the morning when their site was having a lot of issues.

Oh well ended up doubling my credit so guess i'll just wait for it go on sale again now.

I guess that would be fine but my first thought in looking over the day three updates is it looks like the Facebookization of Steam and I really don't care for it. Then again I pretty much knew that was part of the direction they were going to go in and try to push. :puke:

What the heck, in for the HiB bundle. Mostly just wanted Spirits, but I'm interested to see how Bit Trip Beat plays on a touch screen. Don't know much about SpaceChem but my friend said it can be crazy hard. Anyone agree? Idk if my friend is just dumb (or not naturally attuned to that type of puzzler) haha.

I've seen people remark how SpaceChem is challenging/interesting. I think I have it from somewhere, but haven't played it yet. I think I'm happier to check it out as a tablet app.

I find Spacechem quite challenging. Even trying to reverse engineer solutions can rack your brain.

Fortunately there are tons of ways to actually solve the puzzle, so even the most inefficient solution will let you advance.

I have no idea if you're asking me if I'm playing with a controller (I'm not) or if that's your issue (it works for other people). If you have a thoughtful reason as to why you think it's a bad port I'd love to hear it and see if it's something I just overlooked/didn't mind, or if it's an issue with certain hardware configurations.
Looking over the new community update (http://steamcommunity.com/communitycontent), is anyone else wishing Valve would go ahead and implement streaming-video-capture already?
Not that they couldn't afford it, but I'd imagine implementing that would require a massive investment in infrastructure on Valve's part. If it made Steam run worse than it already does, I'd rather continue to rely on FRAPS and the like, and uploading to YouTube. If they could do it seamlessly, sure.

On a steam related note, there should be a feature when you try to add a friend that you have to write a message "Like hey, this is russian comrade, I like to trade TF2 hat for uranium!"

If you end up downloading and installing please let me know if they are Adventure Game Studios games.

I wasn't even mildly interested in that link until you mentioned those titles.

I actually was mildly interested but I think that just drove me to SOLD!

I want people to see:

Motoki is playing Non-Steam game Nancy the Happy Whore

That reminds me, I caved and bought the official Broken Sword on Android for my Touchpad. It actually works really well with the touch input. I'm still kind of curious how the Android AGS running the PC data vs the official Android version would compare though so one of these days I need to try both.

I actually just tried out AGS on Android for the first time in a few months and Blackwell crashed after an error about Steam achievements. I used to get that error but the games would load anyway. I don't know if it's my device, the current AGS, or if an update on Steam broke the game. Bummer. I guess I'll have to give the others a try later.

I already picked up my one copy from GMG for $7.20 so I can't buy a second copy.

Does an awesome CAG want to pick up Tower Wars with the 20% code for $7.20 and I can pay them back?

Nevermind, thanks Fox!
You are totally a pusher. And yet somehow every time someone sees woodchopping and bungee jumping simulator now they think of me.

How the hell did that happen? :whistle2:k

And on the note of pushing, DOOM RAILS!

Twas the queen of coconuts that sealed your fate.

I purchased the bundle and here are things to note:

1. 50 Pence is .81 US Cents (America fuck yeah!)
2. All the games are bundled in one exe.
3. You get 30 days and 7 attempts to DL your exe so you will have to save it and keep it in a safe place.

So anyone thinking about should keep this in mind.

Edit:
Update, after installing they all seem to be AGS games. Is that a good or bad thing? I think Nancy the Happy Whore and the Perfidious Petrol Station (Yes, that is the full name) is the only one that didn't mention AGS in the manual, but I assume that was an oversight.

I'll try to play some of these soon to give some mini reviews as to quality.

Also note, you have a mere 87 days left to purchase the bundle. So quick quick, snap to it!

Looks like my Disciples II Gold got auto-traded in for 50 cents when I bought Greed. I sent in a support ticket. GMGs support is pretty good, so I should get the game back within a day or two.
The trade-in boxes should never be automatically checked. I've made multiple purchases on GMG and it's never happened to me, so I'm guessing it was a bug due to the overwhelmed servers.
A new King's Bounty game has been announced. There will be vikings. Sounds like it may be Steamworks too.

Instabuy!

Well, now I own another pile of adventure games I've never heard of before. We'll just consider that backlog padding. Haha.

Well the AGS engine is fairly flexible and it's been ported to Linux. There's also mobile versions of it for Android and (jailbroken) iOS, because you know that Nancy really needs to get around.
The OP needs to be Wiki-fied. Binary Domain was the deal of the day almost a week ago.
Or maybe the OP is stuck in a groundhog's day time stasis! :whistle2:# We need to mount a rescue operation, quick someone find a red British telephone box (that is what he uses to time travel right?) Were coming Eastx! soon it will be Wednesday...

Though I agree with The End would be amazing if it was editable xD
Hmm, I just double checked mine. HL2 BlackBox 1 (DVD?) HL2 Orangebox 2 DVDs.
My release day purchase of Half Life 2 came with 6 total cds. 5 sepia discs with Goordon Freeman on them and a white/grey disc, the content of which I have no idea.

Edit: Apparently the white disc is a collection of preview and gameplay videos.

But you can play it in Latin! ...for some reason.

I picked it up shortly after the initial post, good price, off the radar stuff =). I look forward to checking out AGS. I really hope it works as well as SCUMMVM does. I found some chatter 6 months back on early refactoring/integration attempts to integrate AGS into SCUMMVM.

While surely not complete, Games created using AGS includes Gemini Rue, hmm....

I kinda look forward to seeing the take on sex workers in Nancy the Happy Whore. Then again I enjoyed the Zimos sex worker rescue missions in SR3 (it just felt good) -- somewhat based on real life heroes like Donaldina Cameron.

Mine is far less 1337, boasting 35 GOTY awards and "98% PC Gamer Mag". Those 3+ CD releases really annoyed me. I remember being seriously irritated at needing to install that Draconian Steam DRM.

I really should look into FOV tweaks for it. I never got far due to motion sickness (common for me in anything FPSish). Heck, I barely made it through Portal 1.

Odd that you got a 6th Disc. Mine came with 5 discs, and had the 98% PC Gamer Mag but no other awards on the thing. I don't know how many copies did but mine had Counterstrike Source on it too.

Sad part is it's been over 7 years since I bought that. How time flies .
