Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
When did Crysis 2 become available on Steam? Wasn't that always an Origin-exclusive or initially on Steam then yanked? I've already got it on Origin via Amazon key, but just asking.
It was never an Origin exclusive. I was sold though Steam when it was first released. It was pulled from the store a little bit over a year ago because of steam's policy regarding DLC. Once they released a GOTY edition with all the DLC included, it got re-added. I can't remember the exact day, but it's been about 3 months since it was put back on steam.

Yep, this is the deal. Notice that you can't buy a vanilla Crysis 2 on Steam, only the "maximum edition."

Also, all the DRM has been stripped out. Not even EA's usual "one-time online activation" is there. DRM Free. :) At least Crysis 2 is. Can't say the same for the originals.

Haha Is that noon GMT or EST?

I just bought Renegade Ops from Amazon and I knew it activated on Steam, but the code included both DLC's that are available (Coldstrike Campaign + Reinforcement) also. In fact the receipt from Steam after typing in the code said "Renegade Ops Retail + DLC". Just an FYI for you guys, cause $3.75 for $23 of content is insane. It was an awesome deal to get the base game for that let alone the whole package. Hell that's an awesome price if you already have the base game and wanted to just pick up the DLC.

Thanks for the heads up. I saw it on sale and was on the fence but hearing both dlcs came with it too for that price made it well worth it.

I got that game with PS+, really liked it but never finished it or any of the dlc. My PS+ just expired too. I'll give someone a tradable Portal 2 for one of those keys.

Gamersgate has the Trine Complete Collection for $8.74:

http://www.gamersgate.com/DDB-TRINECC/trine-complete-collection-bundle

Comes with Trine, Trine 2 (Shows collector's edition), and the new Trine 2 DLC.

From the looks of it you would get a key separately for Trine 2 and the DLC (Trine is DRM free so does NOT activate on Steam).

So with IGN discount it is even cheaper and if you can flip the Trine 2 key for $3 bucks or so you'd save a few bucks on the DLC.
Nice, still going to keep my 4-pack from Amazon (I am hosting) because my friends wont order from GMG for some reason. :bomb: I guess because it's international.
I was going to do a 4pack but I saw that deal and had to jump on it!

I popped on this - their description of pre-ordering says it includes the bonus items and bonus class. Now I'm kind of worried though, because the e-mail I got said I won't get the key until the day it comes out. How will Steam know that I pre-ordered it and give me the bonuses? Does anyone know?

Steam probably has two different keys. One for preorder edition Borderlands 2 and one for Borderlands 2 regular edition.

When you enter your code from GMG, it will come up as preorder edition. If not Steam will know that your key is the preorder copy or GMG will give you a code for your preorder item bonuses.

When I bought Sleeping Dogs from GMG, it came up Sleeping Dogs, Digital Deluxe Edition.

Lastly, Humble Bundle VI is coming! It showed up in the Steam registry.
Stop reminding me! It's been in the registry for a couple of days and I really thought it would be live today. I'm on a plane right now and signed in just because I expected some discussion of it.
Amazon just put up a bunch of WB titles (Mostly Batman and Lego stuff) that all appear to activate on Steam. (except Bastion)

:applause:
Tempted to bite on some of those. I've always wanted to play the original FEAR, and I still need to pick up Arkham City. Still, I've got a backlog to work through and I have a feeling those games will be available for cheaper some time during the holiday.

The trick to that is that everyone who bought Renegade Ops first got the DLC for free. I think it was a good will gesture out of the ridiculously over-delayed launch. Amazon codes are still of that batch though I do not know if they can guarantee it.

The DLC is worth it well enough, though I didn't like the main game.

$7.50 for FEAR 2 seems high. $5 for FEAR1 is a good deal no matter how you slice it. I think FEAR 3, which I feel is better than FEAR2 but from a different design group with a different-ish take on the series, has been $5 before

EDIT: Related. FEAR is a game that's supposed to be a paranormal horror thriller that features you fighting a faceless army of super soldiers with bullet time and slow-mo jump and slide kicks with half-splattered ragdolls flying everywhere.

I mean, that's two very disparate tones glommed together. Everyone and their dog has commented about this all series long and it really speaks a lot about Monolith that they managed to patch that together into something that was really good. of course, if you played NOLF1 and 2 you already knew they were geniuses.

I'm still thrilled about Humble Indie Bundle VI being prepped for its inevitable unveiling, but I'm also quite happy to see Closure is making its way to the PC. ("Back" to the PC, technically, but nevetheless.)
Ooo, new game, Closure, looks amazing. I can't wait until this gets a sale price, and look at those metacritic scores.

I'm also really looking forward to picking up and playing I Am Alive.
Wasn't FEAR 1 $3.?? during the Summer Sale? I know FEAR 2 and 3 were $5 each or so...
Yeah, the prices on a lot of those WB games suck. I love Amazon, but you can easily find better deals for most of those if you wait. The entire F.E.A.R. collection was $10 on Steam during the summer sale, and F.3.A.R. goes on sale for $5 or less often enough.

Shush ZombiFoxo ;)

I actually really like that Amazon now has Steamable versions for the LEGO games. Those seem to rarely go on sale on Steam, so I plan on snatching them up once they hit the $5 point on Amazon. Even now, the prices for the LEGO games are decent!

Oh, and I did buy the F.E.A.R collection on Steam ;)
So, Arkham City GOTY is available on steam now ($23.99). Does anyone know if it includes the Catwoman DLC?

Ah, the news page for it says no
Do you mean the Catwoman DLC that is the online pass for the consoles? If so yes it most certainly should have that, it is part of the base game on pc and isn't differentiated like on consoles, as far as I know, I'll double check though for ya.

That's quite disappointing, now I'm not sure whether to add the GOTY to my wishlist or keep the original on. On that note, the base game dropped to $20.

All I know is if you look at a console GOTY version it says it includes a Catwoman DLC. That would be awesome if it was just part of the base game.

Thanks for the heads up. I posted, hopefully I can still get a key!
No one asked for your opinion Suntoast. Maybe you should spend more time playing F.E.A.R. collection and less time whining.

I swear all you whiners are going on iggy for real yo!
All I know is if you look at a console GOTY version it says it includes a Catwoman DLC. That would be awesome if it was just part of the base game.
Yeah I think it is just a matter of PC vs Consoles, the consoles the Catwoman DLC was the online pass for the game, so if you bought it used you didn't get to play as her, where as on PC there is no online pass or online pass system because there aren't used copies of PC games typically. Also, I own Arkham City the base game on PC but not on Steam, and I definitely played as Catwoman and it was a lot of fun, again the reason I don't think it is listed is just because this was the online pass for consoles, currently the only hard proof I have for you that it is included is the following

http://store.steampowered.com/app/57400/

On the GFWL page and even the Steam page for the base game there is no mention of Catwoman DLC anywhere, but as I said I'm about 100% sure the base game is what includes the Catwoman DLC because I played through it, so it truly is a GOTY edition, and for $24 that is a killer price, if only I could get the Harley Quinn DLC on GFWL for a decent price  Oh well eventually I'll get the GOTY  .

Everyone seems to indicate that it is included and like I said I've played it so I'm certain I played as Catwoman so this version should absolutely have it, just need some confirmation somewhere would be nice, even just someone who has played it on PC as well, I figure that might give you a little more confidence that it is there than just me :p.

You are very welcome, I'm always glad to help a CAG.

On a side note I've been playing Dino D-Day, they had a massive update in July and somehow there are still people playing and to be frank it is awesome, it is WW2 and the Allies and Axis have Dinosaurs to help fight the war, it has a playable T-Rex and bots so you can play by yourself offline and online with others and online with bots too. I hope it goes on sale so more people will play, but again people already are check it out here. http://store.steampowered.com/app/70000/ I'm super excited that the developers have been supporting the game since release because to be honest it was a wreck and through their patching they've done amazing and deserve to be supported.

On a side note I saw you guys also looking at Orion: Dino Beatdown which looks neat and for some reason is 25% off here http://store.steampowered.com/app/104900/ . I have no idea what that is on promotion for but that one looks good, has anyone played that, I'm hoping to see that one cheaper as well. I know these games have a super narrow auidence (or maybe larger than I imagine) but they are pretty cool and thought I'd let my fellow CAG's know about them.

Thanks for pointing that out. I haven't played Dino D-Day since January, but news of a new update is great so I will try it again this weekend. I enjoyed the game alot and it was in an indie bundle in January, but not many people play it here.

Orion Dino Beatdown looks cool to me too, but I am waiting for it to hit 50% off and then get one of the 4 packs before I buy it.

Edit:

This game is coming out soon too (though not sure if on Steam):

http://www.primalcarnage.com/website/beta

You can sign up for the beta there but there is no guarantee you get in :(
Yeah, the prices on a lot of those WB games suck. I love Amazon, but you can easily find better deals for most of those if you wait. The entire F.E.A.R. collection was $10 on Steam during the summer sale, and F.3.A.R. goes on sale for $5 or less often enough.
theyve been less elsewhere, hope they have a better sale soon, especially with AC goty being released
