Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V5! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

This is a Wiki post. Please read this
We appreciate you helping keep this thread up to date. The sales change virtually every day so no one person has the time to update them all. If you notice a game is no longer on sale, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see a game is on sale, add it to the list. Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.
for instructions on updating the thread.

Preorder Deals - Updated 10/28
Group Buys - Updated 8/14

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.

Free Stuff - Updated 4/3

There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7480-WUSF-3601

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card.
The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

$15 and the same puny DLC from the console releases separate? This far after the fact? Wow! They must really think they're hot shit.

Yeah, it should be more like $10 with the DLC included. Talk about rip off for a rather old game for this gen.
Today's deal is the Syberia bundle at 75% off ($3.74 or $2.49 each)
Well, if you are going to get them, you might as well get both, since the story is spread over both games.

I think they are beautiful games. It is too bad it is a pixel-hunting mess at times. Some aspects of it haven't aged well and I found the ending underwhelming.
For a high quality office chair, I recommend checking CraigsList for used office furniture dealer (big and real businesses), they tend to have affordable pricing ($100ish) on quality used Herman Miller, Haworth, etc chairs. The "office chair" junk that Staples and others try to sell you is usually pretty shoddy.

Haworth uses prison labor to produce office furniture, cube walls, etc. Ironic, no?
Nah, I'll be fine. I'm not picking up a used chair for something that's critically important for my comfort and back support. Sure it'll be a bit more, however I'll make sure I have everything I need and it's one that'll last (or has a really long warranty).

Looks like Behemoth has no idea how to market their three year old port. No ability to preorder. No week one discount. Not even a four pack. And to top if off they charge for DLC they quite frankly should have bundled together with the main game. Years of dealing exclusively with Microsoft and PSN have warped their minds.

*Edit: There seems to be a four-pack in the registry so I guess it'll be up later.

What's with the love for this chair? I've been sitting on one for a few years at work. Is it just cause it's mesh?

I think I'd be more tempted to get the Embody. Seems better for back support than the Aeron.

I contend it is because they have never used a Herman Miller Ergon (1) (1976 model, not to be confused with the Ergon 2 or 3).
I always get the pop-up telling me an update has been downloaded and to restart Steam to install it. The thing is, I've restarted Steam every time it tells me this and it still pops up. It's starting to become bothersome.
I had that too and it mysteriously stopped. You could always opt not to restart until there's another update announced.

And the thing is... you know Valve advised them on how best to launch a game like that and it doesn't seem they listened.

I'm a HUGE castle crashers fan, but I'm pretty disappointed with this launch. With the recent console ports of Tony Hawk HD and Jet Set Radio being like they are, I expected the price on this to be $9.99 (or $8.99 with the typical "release discount"). I really just want it so my son and I can play online together, but apparently they're having network issues with lagging that make it almost unplayable online. Add on to that the fact they're charging for DLC that's FREE on the Xbox 360, and you've got a terrible launch.

I know yesterday I said I'd buy it no matter the cost, but with the online lag issue, I think I'm going to hold on until that's fixed or until the fall / winter sale...
So... my computer chair snapped in half yesterday when I was stretching. Who wants to buy me a new one?
I just got the $80 chair that was front page at SD a few days ago at office max. The high back one, seems pretty nice for the money. Good padding. Nothing special in terms of build quality. 2 year warranty

No wonder panda's are dying out, office chair accidents are a killer.

I buy the cheap office chairs. They tend to break after two years while stretching back too. lol. Cheap build, plastic handles/connectors. I've got some Officemax credit so waiting for a free or $10 chair from them at some point this year.
Look like indiegamestand.com is having its first official sale: Escape Goat.

No Steam keys, but you get a Desura key if you pay $1. Otherwise you can pay what you want for the DRM free build (and it comes with some extra music from the game and extra levels or something).
Not really interested in this game (they think it is worth $10? Okay...) but clicking on the link revealed that I have an account there and a copy of 'Chester.' It must have been free at some point, I didn't remember at all.

They were one of the first big indie hits back when this awful indie fad was just getting started. They weren't bad which led to them getting hideously overrated. I assume then that $15 was set based on the assumption that this love was eternal.

Also even as a beat em up fanboy, there is no reasonable value of $15 that can be the price of the wonderful Payday and also the middling Castle Crashers. Not to mention the $10 Double Dragon Neo...

Plus, online NEVER worked right for CC on Xbox anyway and because of the leveling system you had to stay with your friends or the power differentials would ruin everything.
I got about 4 of those Torrent chairs at Staples for $5 each. This was back in May when they had that coupon glitch that allowed you to stack 2 coupons + sale price.

Damn! I would have loved to get in on that deal although I wasn't in the market for a new chair then. Now I spend more time at my desk at home for work and play and I really need a new one.

Can't do those cheap chairs. They cause back pain after long periods of sitting in them. I spend a good amount of time in my chair because I do a lot of off hour work and gaming/training/learning when I get free time. Keeping my body happy is far worth it for me to get a pricier one that fits my body.

Very comfortable to me and yes the mesh is a big deal I've found when sitting in a chair all day, keeps you from getting a lot warmer and your ass from sweating being place so long.

Yep, they gave away a free Chester about two to three weeks ago, as I recall.

It is not just about the mesh. The chair has a great ergonomic design so that it helps your posture/back. The lumbar support is a godsend for those of us with back problems.

Are the two Syberia games linked much?

I picked up Syberia 2 in the groupees bundle over the summer, is it worth getting the first one as well?

Thanks. Sorry about that. The one time I don't read the last couple of pages before asking a question...

$11.25 each but... DLC still costs extra. Still probably just going to wait and grab a 4 pack during a 75% off sale. Not a smart move to release a week or so after Torchlight 2 and Borderlands 2.

Better to wait until the clusterfuck of the next 2 months?

Gotta release sometime...

I guess Summer might have worked better for them, though.

I spent 2 hours in it this afternoon and was fine. My qualifications for back pain, you wonder? Constant, I have a lower lumbar injury. Think of one of your vertebrae breaking and slipping forward .

Well, I guess it's worth noting that all of the money from the Pink Knight pack and the Blacksmith pack are donated to charity (though it doesn't say what charity on the description). And the Xbox version had two DLC packs that came out before the two I mentioned and they are not listed. Perhaps they are already included? On the bright side, none of the DLC matters to begin with, they each only contain one character and a couple weapons; There are already something like 20 characters in the game.

It is a shame about the base price and DLC content, but at least the two packs are only $1 each. Plus, as others have pointed out, a 4-Pack has now launched. Overall, I'm just happy the game is now available for the PC. This brings all sorts of sale possibilities - Indie bundle inclusions, Steam sales, etc. I'm sure [patient] CAG's know what to do by now.

By the way, between those two DLC packs, is all the console content available for the PC version? I recall there being more than two packs on the 360 version, but I could be mistaken.

Sometimes I can spend upward of 12 hours in the chair. Of course there are breaks, but it depends on how much work I have to get done or if I'm in some long gaming session with friends over the weekend.

So guys I thought I'd tell you about a deal on Sleeping Dogs, Amazon PM'd gamestop's downloads so Sleeping Dogs is on sale for $29.99 for the next two weeks at Amazon, and obviously it is a steamworks game so the key works on steam, so if you have credit at either place this seems like a good deal. Here is a link :

anyways, also thoughts as to if this is worth it? Now that it has been out for a month, does it have any real replay value and any news about that DLC coming in October.

I put 29 hours in, and I almost did everything except the achievements like buy every car, buy every clothing item, etc. So it's worth $30 for the amount of content you get.

You know the more play Borderlands 2, but more I just feel like blah. I mean it isn't a bad game, it's just Borderlands 2 feels like a $60 expansion pack because it really doesn't do much the first game didn't do.

replay value? not so much, but i really enjoyed my 1 playthrough which took about 12 hrs. really fun game with excellent writing and voice acting. i'd say it's worth your money.
You can try opting into the beta update and seeing if that does the trick, if you're not already there. Big Picture is a completely new Steam experience for me, and I like it. You can also change the client permissions to run as administrator every time you start the program; we all trust Valve well enough for that, I think. ;)

I had that too and it mysteriously stopped. You could always opt not to restart until there's another update announced.

I get the same problem at times, and it seems related to opting in to betas. Like the client doesn't recognize that past updates were already applied whilst in beta.

re: the office chair talk, I like to imagine console gamers scratching their heads in befuddlement—as if.
So... my computer chair snapped in half yesterday when I was stretching. Who wants to buy me a new one?
I can't imagine how ridiculous that must look in your house...

You need SotMC and BGCQ decals on it to offset the blues. ;) Trust me.
Better to wait until the clusterfuck of the next 2 months?

Gotta release sometime...

I guess Summer might have worked better for them, though.
I was thinking not wait three+ years to actually release the port in the first place.

If I do that I might not have to worry about it being too blue when my wife makes me sleep in the car. lol
:D Wow you really made my night, actually guffawed when I read your response. Thanks Blade :bouncy::rofl:

Alright, I've written off They Bleed Pixels. There's only so much wall jumping over spikes and around saws and slippery platforms into spikes one guy can take. The controls are better than Meat Boy, especially with Meat Boy's terrible wall jumps but still... They aren't as good as they could be, especially with a pixel perfect precision game filled with spikes and with fewer actual platforms to stand on than healthy foods in my diet.

It's competent but I have absolutely no desire to finish this. Not when Ys Origins, Bunny Must Die, Sleeping Dogs, and New Vegas are all still waiting gameplay. Take that for what it is worth.
Who all is pickin' up BO2? Craving some BO1 right now, was hella fun on 360 when I played
normally i wudve never considered getting any of the new cod games. but it seems the new zombie mode for bo2 is quite content heavy with 3 seperate modes and an entire campaign for it. the game also has custom mutators for zombie killing. it sounds like l4d2 inside of bo2. i might get it just for that. i love me some zombie killing. but thats a big "might." right now theres only a 30% chance that ill get it.

I hadn't even heard of Blops 2 getting a zombie campaign. They practically had an overarching story that was almost compelling because of how scant it was in Blops 1. Still, I can wait for a $20 sale. Blops 1's matchmaking ruined zombies. MW3 managed a bit better though in the co-op half of the board matchmaking-wise
