Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Great bundle, but I have all of the games aside from Snapshot and Closure. I don't have any Dungeon Defenders DLC, but I'm not sure I want to BTA just to get it.

Too soon. I'm expecting the HiB BTA price to drop a little.

Edit: And it's dropping.

Any thoughts on the BTA games? I don't think Grinmrock is worth much to me. Dungeon Defenders is mainly a co-op play game, right?

I'm actually most excited for Shank 2's soundtrack

And I bought snapshot on release and still have it backlogged. Who do I return my CAG card to?
Baby why you make me gotta hit you?
He's quite correct though.
Isaac is garbage. Happily grabbing a cheap bundle for Shank 2 since I already have the BTA games as well.
I enjoy Binding of Isaac quite a bit, though PWYW is probably the right price for it, considering it's pretty much a flash game.

It *is* a flash game.

Yay, I only had BoI (don't even have the dlc). So for me this HiB is awesome

Edit: All the games are separate keys, even more awesome
They're separate keys?
Actually it says it's one key for the game + DLC. But yes, separate keys for each game.

Somewhat of a lackluster bundle, though I will say that Indie Game: The Movie is pretty good and worth whatever you decide to contribute. Considering my tight finances, I may just do a buck to get Closure and Snapshot. Grimrock will have to continue to wait (not that I would play it right away anyways).

Out of the three games I own in this bundle (Grimrock, Snapshot, Isaac) Grimrock is easily the best to me. Disappointing that the Isaac OST isn't included or wasn't in the last humble that the game was in.

Silly Humble, sorting alphabetically using the word The.

I think it's bottomed out. $5.77 was the lowest that I saw it at and it's now hovering around $5.84. It'll start climbing soon.

EDIT: Maybe not. Down to $5.82 again

Watching it for a bit I think it's signed a short term contract with equilibrium for ~$5.80. Still not enough sales prevent quick several cent price swings.
Surprised at no FTL in HIB7
It's selling too well to become included in bundle. I would expect it to be in HB near winter sale, but next year.

Dang i just bought binding of isaac the last time it went on sale at steam. Sheesh. Might put down $1 again on hib7.

Was interested in trying Snapshot for cheap and the others look interesting so easily worth $1 to me. Also looking forward to more games being added next week (assuming they will do that).

Already have Dungeon Defenders and no real desire to pick up the DLC (or ever play it again). Probably just pay $1 and buy Grimrock separately for $3.75.
I already own TBoI + DLC but I'll keep my eye on this. BTA is $5.89 right now.
Well if your hope is that it goes lower, I wouldn't count on that. It's already hit a low of $5.77 and now it's slowly starting to climb.
All the comments on that page seem to have not read the actual article. This looks to be a soft landing for THQ.
People don't understand what Chapter 11 bankruptcy means.

I know, but there's always a chance. I'm not super interested in any of these. If I can grab them for slightly less I might bite. If not then nothing of value was lost to me.

Yeah I'm pretty much resigned to that -- these things rarely have precipitous drops. That said, the range between $5.75 and $6 is pretty irrelevant to me so I'll take the 1% odds that it drops and roll with it.

boy am i glad i didnt buy shank 2 a few weeks ago when it was on sale. I knew it would end up in a bundle since Shank 1 was. hooray for binding of issac dlc! $1 for me since i already have the bta games as well. I recommend grimrock. i dont care for dungeon defenders. I couldnt get into it.
Are the BTA games worth paying the full price (which is rising penny by penny)?
If you have neither: most definitely.

Yes. They're both very high quality indie games and you probably won't find the Dungeon Defenders DLC cheaper than that.

Really happy with the HIB :) I think this is the first one where I had none of the games (except for Binding of Isaac which I got for free during last Winter sale). Cynically, it's also because I've stopped buying indie games, knowing that they will all eventually be in a bundle. I think the last indie game I bought at full price was To The Moon, which found itself in a bundle within 2 months.

Been wanting to play Shank 2 and Grimrock for a while, so this is a coup for me :) I have to admit, I really want to play Hotline Miami and FTL as well, but I'm waiting for their eventual bundle...

Dungeon Defenders is mainly a co-op game, but you can play solo if you want. Just be warned that on the harder stages/difficulties, it'll be very hectic to get your initial tower setup down. Also, if playing solo and starting your first character, there's a huge wall to actually being able to pass the first level. It's an interesting game, but one that's (still) extremely flawed on various levels. Still, there really isn't another game exactly like it right now, so if you wanted to try out a ARPG/TD hybrid, it's a good place to start.

Thanks for the piece of advice. Bought it before it rises more than 6 bucks.

To follow up with the THQ news, Amazon is offering the 'Tantalizing THQ Medley' pack which consists of the following:

1. Homefront
2. Metro 2033
3. Red Faction Armageddon
4. Red Faction Guerrilla
5. S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl
6. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

The pack is going for $7.50 and is redeemable on Steam. fuck yeah.
La Mulana is confirmed as a bonus for the new Build a Greenlight bundle. It only needs like 200 more sales to unlock. No Steam but then again you get Desura keys.

http://groupees.com/bagb
Late to the party I realize, but definitely in for 1. I already own La-Mulana through GoG, but am definitely interested in having the OSTs as well as a Steam copy (once it makes it through Greenlight). I figure $1.50 is worth the gamble in hopes that they reach the bonus amount.

So I guess now to arbitrarily pick 2x random games and pay minimum on them. Seriously, not a single one of these titles look any good to me. =\ Any recommendations fellow CAGs?

I don't know if I can ask this here, but... anyone have a cheap Bastion key for sale??? PM me if you do please. :3
