Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

IAMANELDERGEEK is a 5% discount code. Applying it will incur another page reload (eew). Only the bravest of CAGs will try to buy blue coins first and double dip on the code. I did.*

* I had $20 in blue coins sitting in my account since the good old days of the IGN discount that I wanted to use.
I wanted to do the blue coins first but the site was just way too slammed for me to mess with it and that was hours ago. I did managed to get 4 items in the cart at the same time though, somehow.

Ahhhh, so that was your secret. And here I thought you had a pair of balls bigger than King Kong (metaphorically speaking, of course). You just had some extra blue coins that you wanted to use up. You probably only had to buy a 10 spot worth of coins.

Still impressed, just less so now.

Oh well I give up after just short of nearly 7 hours and having to register and account, confirm my email and now can't get it to checkout at paypal I just don't care enough anymore.

LOL, I was wondering why the steam thread blew up 50 pages since dinner time, crazy deal on Bethesda pack. Though I have a feeling someone is going to be fired come Monday, Christmas Eve :-({|=

At the risk of incurring the wrath of the thread gods, if anyone wants $5 Paypal for Rage and Hunted keys from the GG bundle, PM me (let me know what you'd toss in Brink for).

Oh, and here's a PS3 code for the Borderlands 2 DLC that was mentioned a few pages back (there are no PC codes left): 339R-NLN9-5J8B.
At this point I doubt they would revoke the sales -- it would be a PR disaster.
They seem not to care very much about those :p however seeing as a good chunk of people who got in on it have already activated at least one key I think that would make it very difficult to take back at this point.
lol like that's stopped GG before...
I was able to get through the whole process after about 4 hours of trying.

If you are able to get the site to load at all, my small piece of advice would be to have multiple tabs, but have each one doing a different thing. 1 tab for trying to add. One tab for checking out. 1 tab for checking order history. If you get stuck at the paypal page, you should know you've succeeded if paypal sends you an email, even if you don't get redirected back to GG. At that point, check your library to see if it did go through after all.

You don't always get a sign that a step has succeeded, so it can make sense to try and see if it's possible to do the next step. Don't assume because you don't see anything in a tab that that step didn't work.

So Mooby, you've sat here the whole time as cool as a cucumber. Do you have what you want from Beth already? Not interested? Totally zen, but still trying to buy?
how much is the stardock bundle anyway, cant seem to load it
$25 for the following:

Fallen Enchantress
Sins of a Solar Empire: Rebellion
Galactic Civilizations I: Ultimate Edition
Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Edition
Demigod
The Political Machine 2012

Sorry if someone has talked about it already, but have any CAGs used or are familiar with RPG Maker VX? I am kind of tempted at 50% off as I remember having something similar on my PS1, though I am guilty of never finishing the RPG I was making on it.
holy santa claus it went through. Even tho i have everything except for Dishonored, i am so happy i actually finished the transaction. It feels like ive been grinding all day and finally im lvl 100. Congrats to everyone that suffered and got the deal and good luck to the people that are still trying. So happy that email from paypal came
No kidding. I finally got through to at least activating one of the games, so I'm going to call it a night.

And ditto on all that! Congrats and good luck to all.

Sorry to bother you guys again, but if a game has already a 60% discount and is VERY obscure (apart from being DLC) is there a chance for further discount or because of its obscurity it will never even reach Flash Sale status?

Just fought through the system (only took about 30 mins) to grab the Stardock pack. Seeing as how I wanted SotS and GalCiv, couldn't pass that up. Thanks for pointing this one out Motoki.

I got $10 Skyrim from that Microsoft Store blowout. My rig is too ancient to run Dishonored. Played Oblivion a while ago (when it was originally released) and didn't really care for it. Grabbed Morrowind about a year ago on Steam, same with the Fallouts (although probably more like two years on those). So basically, yeah, I owned pretty much everything and didn't feel like suffering through reloads then having to sell keys amongst the throngs of other people.

Buddy gave me Rage. I might pick up Brink later for cheap but... it's Brink. Hunted is meh. Rogue Warrior is horrible!

It's hard to say for sure but if it's that obscure and it has never been a daily or flash on a previous sale (you can check price history for temporary one day dips when it already was on sale) then I would say no.

Generally speaking, the stuff that goes on Flash/daily starts off at 25%-50% off. I don't think I recall many games that were 60 or 66% going to 75% on a flash or daily. There's just not that much difference for it to seem like an 'oh wow' deal that way.

Fallen Enchantress is quite good too so definitely give that one a try since it's in that pack.

If it's really a low profile game, it's probably not gonna get discounted further. But unless you are simply dying to play the game RIGHT NOW, I would wait until the final day of the sale just to make sure it didn't end up as a flash deal.

Probably not but... which game/DLC?

I think the consensus was: Buy it and make a cool RPG and get rich! Err, richer by at least -35 bucks.

Also, you can try the Lite version for free.

The new RPG maker is a HUGE upgrade from the last one, better resolutions, to name one thing, more design control in menus, from a dev standpoint and I am guessing that is what it is for its a HUGE step ahead.

Pretty useless otherwise I dont understand why it is a daily, do devs need dailies on rpg maker if so it is a sad sad world!!!!!
All of this talk about RPG Maker I better start seeing some CAG Quest games soon. ;)
Hopefully a slew of quests to become the queen of a coconutty island!

CAG quest would be pretty boring. Lots of escort missions from best buy to gamestop. fetch quests from amazon tony. a test your might mini game where you're slamming f5 on gamersgate checkout screen. renegade points for taking all those free origin games.

That actually sounds better than McPixel. ;)

Late night vision fail -- I was looking at the main page not the EC page.
GOD DAMMIT, why wont it give me my Fallout New Vegas key?
The hardest one for me was the FO3 key and I already had that one in Steam.

Surprisingly the Dishonored and Skyrim keys were the fastest to get.

Started at 7pm and just finished slugging through the GG site for the Bethesda Collection. Wonder if I should try for the Stardock Collection? There is a handy link right there...

FINALLY!!!!!

After 5 hours I finally was able to purchase a bundle, THANKS A LOT GG AND CAGs!!!!!! =D =D =D

MERRY XMAS!!!

Man, all these games that work better with an xbox controller...I actually need to look into a wired usb one of those, whoops.

Do they even still make those?

I just got one off Amazon not too long ago (unless you're talking about the original Xbox and not 360)

Or if you already have a bunch of the wireless 360 ones lying around a wireless adapter will work just as well.

Yup, just make sure and buy one for the 360. For some reason the ones branded for the PC are like $10 higher or some crap. Exact same thing as far as I can tell.

i highly recommended the xbox 360 controller wireless receiver.
i highly recommended the xbox 360 controller wireless receiver.
I agree.

And bonus is that it also works with the crazy U shaped disembodied driving wheel controller that makes you feel like you are Wonder Woman driving the invisible jet.

What? Doesn't everyone feel like Wonder Woman when they are sitting at their desk holding a steering wheel?
