Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
God damn it, Ubi... Anno 2070 is not worth $20 to me. Stop that.
The sad thing is I would actually pay $20 (even though it's over a year old and should be cheaper than that on the big sale by now damned Ubisoft grumblegrumble) if it didn't have all that god damned DRM on it. To quote someone on the Steam community forum:

Actually it's 3 DRMs (Steam, UPlay and Tages), you didn't count Solidshield Tages SAS. They locked it up tighter than an nun's ♥♥♥♥♥♥. Which of course, the pirates already have all the keys for it.

Pretty much.

For me the outrageous DRM on this game makes it $5 for GOTY with all DLC or GTFO.
Lone Survivor looks good for $4. I picked it up. Anybody play it here? Asking for opinions after I bought it might be strange, but whatever.
It's not too bad, I got it in one of the Humble Bundles but it's interesting to say the least. It's kind of like a survival horror akin to Silent Hill or something but in 2D.

Grabbing Deep Sea for Anno 2070 I was hoping for at least 50% off for it as I've been itching to play that a lot the last couple of months..

I would have bought Carrier Commander if it was 75% off, heard it was rather lackluster but was willing to give it a try at that price. Chivalry, I dunno, doing a 4 pack it is like $9.40ish hmm

Interesting. Not sure how I missed it then. I only missed like the first two Humble Bundles and even they were bundled in 3 and 4.

Yeah, I would pay $20 for a good Strategy game. If it didn't have DRM up the ass. I can take Steam and uPlay, but when you start adding in Tages, just no.

I think I saw that movie... :whistle2:s
I own it on iPad. I like it, dragging to move sorta gets old but its not really detrimental. Attacking and defending is much easier since all you have to do is tap the screen or swipe

Haven't played the PC version, did play it on PS3 for a chapter and hated moving the cursor to the designated hit spots.
Would you say the ios version is the better version?

Well, crap. I owned Lone Survivor from Humble Bundle V, but it was in the bonus content that I never redeemed for some reason. So now I own it twice. Oh well.

 You my friend are a true CAG. When you go in on so many deals that you end up doubling up, you know you have a problem.

I always activate all my bundle keys ASAP so I don't double buy anything. Because otherwise, yeah I would.

ended up picking up GR future soldier for 15 just mere 50 seconds before the sale on the game was gone, i have read good things and bad things about this game, if it sucks i can live with 15 bucks wasted

steam has to step it up if they want to get my money, the daily deals have been very underwhelming so far. I mean look at the prices of today's featured indie games, most if not all of those have already been in some bundle at some point

For the most part, yeah...
...but, I think SR:TT The Full Package + DOW Franchise Pack deals are INSANE.

Part of my daily morning ritual now is drinking a big cup of coffee while trying to catch up on the thread's progress while I was unconscious (I don't dare say asleep, I pass out nowadays)

As someone who's just getting back into PC gaming, this sale is still lackluster. I picked up a few things that most likely wouldn't appeal to everyone just because they already own part or all of the bundle (Prince of Persia Pack and will most likely pick up Dawn of War Franchise and Portal Franchise) I remember steam sales used to challenge you to keep the money in your wallet. You had to prioritize which items to buy because everything was a great price and most people just couldn't afford to buy everything that was a great deal. Now, we're struggling just to find something worth buying at this price point.
Portal 2 or Dragon Age ultimate edition?
DA. Portal 2 was great fun but DA is great fun and about a thousand-million times longer.
Portal 2 or Dragon Age ultimate edition?
They are very different games but Portal 2 will probably be free at some point so I'd say go with Dragon Age. That and I love that game to death, Dragon Age that is.

Yeah, that's the only problem w/ many deals...I already own A LOT of these games and only missing a FEW items in the bundle.

What would make it worth me buying bundles that have some of these games I already own is if it became an automatic gift that I could trade or give-away to someone.

I have the GFWL version of Street Fighter AE 2012, i'm better off buying the Steam version. The DLC costumes are $15 and never go on sale.

While this one has eveything included for $14. Debating......

BTW How is Back to Future?

Or handle it like GOG, and just reduce the bundle price appropriately for you.
Portal 2 or Dragon Age ultimate edition?
If I had to choose, DA:UE without question. That said, for $13.75, I'd just get them both. Dragon Age is a time investment, and Portal 2 is a quirky little puzzler with great personality. So you've got a game you can play for thirty minutes before work, and a game you can play for ten hours after work.
You can tell DA:O is worth buying because you can hijack any thread anywhere by bringing it up :applause:

There's probably forums about body work mods on sports cars I could derail by asking about whether Leliana is better with ranged or with melee.
What? Did you mention Dragon Age: Origins? Best game ever! :D

And yes, my version probably has 100 mods installed in it and looks so darn purty.
Or handle it like GOG, and just reduce the bundle price appropriately for you.
I hate those sales. I see the cheaper price if you buy the whole damned thing and it just pisses me off.

I wanted Inquisitor for 75% off but since I missed the daily when they brought it back it was only that price if you get the whole RPG bundle. I know you can have someone else who owns the entire pack gift a game from it to you but there's probably like 12 people on the planet that actually own The Real Texas.

What I've started doing is buying things as gifts or keeping the Steam keys in a spreadsheet until I'm ready to play it. It reduces some of the feeling of waste when it comes time to buy a bundle on Steam or activate a Humble Bundle code. Then I can always give the extra games away to my gf or my brother or potentially resell them as well to recover some of the cost.

Really wish they would put saints row 2 on sale for super cheap like $2.50 so I could try out the gentlemen of the row mod because saints row the third is always on sale now
I enjoyed it. Played it on PS3 via free PS+. Nothing like TWD if you're wondering, but in a similar story driven genre. If you liked the movies and enjoy the game's genre, you should like Back to the Future in it's game form. The only thing I didn't like was the relatively stiff controls, but I didn't really expect much of them as it's purely a vehicle to get from A to B.
For the most part, yeah...

Even then there's the mitigating factor of THQ's financial difficulties. Were it not for that you probably wouldn't be seeing such crazy price points there. So, not entirely Valve's doing.

Amazon had it on sale for 3.75 yesterday, looks like it's back up to $7.50 now. Maybe it'll go down again on Christmas.

Does the Saints Row Season Pass include all the dlc? I can't seem to find a list of what it does not include. I plan to get the season pass on amazon on Christmas but wanted to get whatever dlc is not included on steam directly.

Forgot I had these sitting here found them while cleaning up my computer.

SR:TT Season Pass ONLY includes the 3 main content DLC's - Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space, and The Trouble with Clones;
and also includes the NyteBlayde Pack.

I totally agree with your GOG frustration. I think what I'm saying would actually work on Steam because of the vast numbers of Steam-heads and the general prevalence of Steam. On GOG it really only works for GOG-heads which are a much smaller group.
Where is this? In steam?
Yeah. Regional pricing.
If you need help with region pricing I'd gladly buy it and sell it back to you at cost. I am in the US.
Thanks (to you and the others who offered to do this) for the offer. I have a friend in the US who sometimes helps with purchases like this, so I'll try contacting him first. :)

Genkibowl VII, Gangstas in Space, The Trouble with Clones, and (from how I interpreted the Steam page) the Nyte Blade pack.

Thanks. I'll probably get the season pass and the fun time pack.

Bought the DA:OU bundle, and put my PS3 copy on ebay (sealed copies are selling for like $50+ somehow). Will probably send my physical guide in to Amazon as well.
