Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.
Your links are broken.

I remember playing a couple hours of DSII and loving it so I've been waiting forever for the complete collection to be cheap enough, but if what you say is true, I might jump on this instead.
Bah, they added the affiliate tags for CAG and broke my links. :( Go to this link for the complete bundle of Dungeon Siege and then click on the individual items.

Man, Steam sale has been weak this season--fortunately Tony on the Amazon thread is kicking ass and taking names and I've gotten all my steam games from Amazon for WAY better prices.

At first I was worried it was going to be a bad x-mas for being a cheap ass... but Amazon totally saved the day and let me register all my purchases on Steam as well.

Very happy, and as always--love the CAG community! You guys are the best!

The ludicrous base price of the older Dungeon Siege games renders the sales pretty awful. Tony explained that it is the price Squeenix insisted on so... go figure.
Picked up the Skyrim DLC. Thanks for the heads up on that hidden sale.
What hidden sale?

I just got a $5 credit from amazon fro buying Saints Row: The Third back in july when it was 10$. It's limited to THQ titles only and has to be used on 12/25. Just a heads up to check your email, not sure what other games qualify for the credit most likely any THQ game. I am planning on grabbing the Darksiders Franchise Pack since it will be 13$ tomorrow.

Details on that here: http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showpost.php?p=10316576&postcount=10462

Basically everyone should read that -- crazy promo.
YAY for GG price mistakes! Hurry and dig and let's see what else they screwed up.
FYI: Gamersgate currently has Viking at $2.25 and Elements of War for $1.70.

Holy Crap. Resident Evil 5 is up for a vote! 66% off isn't great but it would be the lowest it's ever gone.

C'mon. Vote for this thing.
Do you guys think Arma 2 is going to go any cheaper than this 50% flash deal?
I bet not. BI will be riding that DayZ popularity until the standalone comes out.

I might be wrong, but didn't it go to 75% off during Thanksgiving on Steam?
Do you guys think Arma 2 is going to go any cheaper than this 50% flash deal?
Not on Steam. Maybe elsewhere.

Anyone have a scribblenauts unlimited key for sale for rather cheap? I want to buy the one on amazon, but I live in Canada so apparently i cannot buy it.

Steam id is Curtsey if anyone wants to deal.

Just noticed Alan Wake's American Nightmare for $1.88.

It had to be bought, haven't even played Alan Wake yet but it's cheaper than my coffee I bought this morning. :D

For those with Sacred 2 experience, here's my dilemma: I have an unplayed physical copy of the Sacred 2 CE sitting behind me. I know most of the CE stuff is apparently only useable in multiplayer (which doesn't interest me). So I guess this is a "is it worth it?"/does Ice and Blood really add a lot to the base game kind of question. I have a feeling it will be a while before we see this at 75%.

That's my problem, I'll buy any game on the planet as long as it's cheaper than a value meal at McDonalds. My mind immediately says, "Well, it's cheaper than dinner."

You never know -- Sacred 2 was usually a regular during Steam sales before it was pulled. Of course, now there is a new publisher in Deep Silver they might not want to go with a 75% sale so soon but... keep in mind that Sacred Citadel is coming out within a few months (interim Golden Axe style of game) and Sacred 3 is on the horizon.

I am almost like that, I will buy any game if someone says it's good and it's cheap. I just can't justify buying games unless I have some sort of measure that they are at least decent, or so ungodly horrible that I need to play this.
I might be wrong, but didn't it go to 75% off during Thanksgiving on Steam?
It was like 6.78 at Gamersgate. Cant remember what the percentage was exactly. Didn't activate on steam.
Is there a gamersgate code for a discount or am I thinking of greenmangaming?
IAMANELDERGEEK will get you 5% off. Use it to buy Blue Coins at a discount, and then use those coins to make the purchase and use the code again.
Skyrim hidden flash deal at 50 percent (DLC too). Half Life series at 75 percent off. Likely another day's flash going off at the same time. might be a third.
Snapping up Dawnguard, thanks!

Weird hidden flash deals like this make me paranoid. Maybe all the good Steam sales have been hidden thus far! ;)
I might be wrong, but didn't it go to 75% off during Thanksgiving on Steam?
I'm not certain but I'm actually pretty sure the lowest it's gone is 50% around the release of Res Evil6. I'd check steam prices, but my family is taking to much of my time right now.

I'm forced to make my Steam Sale purchases in the bathroom. Which is probably more than you CAGs want to know.

I finally picked up Half Life Complete. I've been pissed at myself for not picking it up during the Summer sale.

Last thing I really want is GTA Pack Complete for 75% off.
Holy Crap. Resident Evil 5 is up for a vote! 66% off isn't great but it would be the lowest it's ever gone.

It was $6.99 yesterday at GMG...(after using the 30% off voucher)

Wow... 235 pages, a couple days spent traveling and visiting family before I can get back into here and all hope of actually reading through is lost.. Pretty successfully restrained myself from the sale so far. Just Binary Domain last night and Half Minute and They Bleed Pixels this morning so far. I did glance at gog though and bit on the Ultima series for $9 on random impulse.

Do we think Skyrim is going to get any cheaper than its current price?
EDIT: Eh prob not, just bought it with Dawnguard. Thanks guys.
Do we think Skyrim is going to get any cheaper than its current price?
If you can wait until Mid-January when those of us that were able to take advantage of the Mispriced Bethesda package on Gamersgate. I've got 3 keys coming in and will be able to part with them for $12.50 a piece (Same as Dishonored....will have 3 keys for that as well).
Do we think Skyrim is going to get any cheaper than its current price?
Yes, eventually.

During this sale...Magic 8-ball says "Outlook not so good"
It was $6.99 yesterday at GMG...(after using the 30% off voucher)

Voted RE5, that hasn't been on sale forever, yeah?
Why is everyone so gaga over RE5?
Why is everyone so gaga over RE5?
I think it has to do with the fact that Capcom has, until recently, been very stingy with their pricing.
Why is everyone so gaga over RE5?
I voted Beyond Good and Evil because I heard it' was pretty awesome when it was released for the Gamecube and I never got a chance to play it.

RE5 is fun....but nothing like the Playstation RE's...those games were awesome. I think RE1 remake on the Gamecube was my favorite.

I voted Beyond Good and Evil because it doesn't go for 75% off too often, and RE5 is nearly the same price on GMG with voucher anyway..

I guess people don't realize RE5 on GMG now activates on Steam, along with other Capcom games.
Do any of you think that Arma II: Combined Operations will get any lower in price? Should I just wait for thew Day Z stand alone instead?
I doubt it will. Definitely not this sale. Whether you want to wait depends on how bad you want to play it...

I bought it earlier.

Picked up Half Life 2 on the secret flash sale. Thanks to whomever brought this to my attention!

It worth buying the original Half Life? I've never really played, but really can't stomach games with old graphics. I think I read there's a user-made mod that upgrade the graphics on that game. Any suggestions from someone with more knowledge? Thanks!

Yeah I doubt it because it's been selling so well.

It actually just went a little more on sale but it was only like $2 less.
If you are just in it for Day Z you might want to wait. I bought it but I'm in it for ARMA rather than Day Z.

The original Half Life was outstanding but I really can't say how it holds up now. Graphically it's going to be... old (obviously). If that's a deal breaker than the deal is broken I guess.

I haven't played it, but you're referring to Black Mesa with the remake. It's a remake of HL1 in the HL2 Source Engine. If you have Half Life 2 you should check it out. Looked pretty good to me from what I saw.

I played the original Half Life a few months ago, and I can say it's definitely still worth playing. I didn't use any mods or anything and enjoyed it.. however it probably would've been a better idea to grab the half-life complete pack if you were interested in the original game and HL2

Been curious about the Warhammer series for a long while, so $9.99 was a good investment, I hope. Been wanting Space Marine for a while, but I am holding out for a THQ bundle with a few titles I want but not a crapload of titles I don't want.

Looking hard at Saints Row Third, may snap it up.

Dawn of War II is one of my favorite games ever. It's very tactical, it's almost really more like Diablo or something than a real RTS because you only have a few units and its really about managing their abilities, equipment, etc.

Dawn of War I is good too, it's just more of a traditional RTS.

Have fun with those. Great games.
