Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Really? I think sigs are highly important and people should focus on them as much as they do the post. Especially if they have some spare paypal cash lying around...
Makes me glad I grabbed one of those AMD Brazil Facebook codes, otherwise I'd be right there with you on that Sonic Complain Train.
I certainly tried. Between that and the Beth pack, my F5 key hates me.
Don't worry, my friend - The Sonic Complain Train is out of the station, but you can still hop on; $14.99 is an abysmal sale price compared to the countless times Sonic Generations has been $7.49.

This is the only thing I'd like to know before taking the plunge - If the port is as bad as Sonic Adventure DX, then I'd rather dig out my Dreamcast. If it's at least the same level of quality as Jet Set Radio, then I'm sold.

I don't think it matters anymore, since the SEGA Classics entry has, after about 3 hours of being advertised as part of the bundle, vanished.
Sonic Adventure 2 HD port is light years beyond the Sonic DX port (disc and download). I forbid my 8 year old from playing Sonic DX because the camera is so garbage.

You might look into the disc version of Sonic Hero's the port is good also.

New Flash Deals

Rayman Origins $10.19 66% off
Spec Ops the Line $10.19 66% off
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic $2.49 75% off
Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic 2 $2.49 75% off
I missed out on KOTOR2 for the autumn sale, so i dont mind...
You'll want this.:D

edit: Also, it should be noted that version 1.8.2 of the Restored Content Mod is set to come out on Friday the 28th so people should be prepared to do another round of applying stuffs soonish.

You know, maybe I'm just a cheap bastard and I know it's Ubisoft and they too are cheap bastards but I feel like Rayman Origins should be $5 on sale by now.

Does the Steam version at least not have the shitty Tages DRM that the non-Steam versions do?

3rd-party DRM: No 3rd Party DRM

Hilarious that they even list that...fucking Ubisoft.
Hilarious that they even list that...fucking Ubisoft.
If you ask me that "3rd party DRM" field should be on every game page, even if the answer is none.

Some publishers, like Focus Home Interactive (Orcs and Men) like to sneak it in without mentioning it on the page.

They'd also need two lines because some dumbass publishers like Ubi put it two layers of 3rd party DRM in sometimes like they do with Anno 2070.

*sigh*

I'm not sure if anyone will know. I have Sims Medieval on Steam. Amazon is selling the expansion for $10 in their download sale tomorrow ($5 off $15 or something). Will that work for the Steam version? The expansion is not available on Steam, so if not, how can I even get it? Confusing.

I don't believe it will. They don't work for the Sims 3 I can say that for sure.

EA yanked the Sims Medieval expansion from Steam for some unknown reason and never has put it back.

What you can do though is that you should be able to take your key from the Medieval base on Steam and activate that to Origin and then get the expansion there or elsewhere and play it through Origin.

Not ideal, but it gets you the expansion working. :whistle2:/

ANyone have any thoughts - Hearthfire worth the $2.47? I honestly haven't played much of Skyrim - having a hard time getting into it. I'm tempted to wait for the summer/winter sale in 2013, just because I'm not sure I'll ever get around to playing it.

I hear you. Although, it's worth noting that only the console versions have hit the 12-month mark [in terms of release date]. The PC version was released at the end of March of this year, so I can understand a little extra time.

Nevertheless, Ubisoft may be stingy about Origins - I believe they put the game on sale recently on the PlayStation Network, but, even then, the PS+ discount still didn't amount to sub-$10. Thus, it seems Ubisoft is waiting as long as possible before dropping the price to CAG-approved levels.

May be feeling a sense of sarcasm here...

God that's alotta mods for KOTOR II.

The PS+ discount made it a little under ten dollars on PS3. ~9.89.

I picked it up a few days ago.

It's ok. You basically just kinda grind-out the mats and items, look at your finished house, and say "Yup, that's a house alright."

It's nice for the convenience in that it gives you a fast-travel point and gathers things like crafting, stables, and a cart in one place but you could probably do much of that with mods.

I feel that it's good for that price but if you aren't playing Skyrim much then just wait until Dragonborn is out and then snag all of the DLC in a sale.

Way too tasteful. Try again.

I managed to sleep off the half minute hero deal, but now that these restoration mods are out there, I might pick up KOTOR 2.

Also purchased and played the first two chapters of The Room on the ipad last night, which was pretty great. It's a puzzle box thing. (While I'm recommending ios things, Into The Dead is like a first-person version of that racecar game you played on your graphing calculator, (with zombies,) and free.)

Groupees is allowing people to buy one game on the Greenlight build a bundle for 75 cents between now and Dec 26.

http://groupees.com/bagb

Note that if you buy 1 game you still get La Mulana with a Desura key and Steam key when it gets greenlighted in addition to your one other game.
how is morrowind? i remember playing it a little bit on the xbox but i just passed the first part
I love that game and still have a soft spot for it but if you run it vanilla it's very dated so you will need to mod it, at very least for a much needed facelift.

Unlike the games that came after it, its not very handholdy so if you go to an area that's a more difficult area you will get spanked. Enemies are not leveled to you.

It's a very unique and interesting game where I think they did an excellent job in creating an environment that isn't just the generic fantasy shlock and you really feel like you are in another world completely from everything to cultural norms, plant life, animals etc.

If you don't mind hunting down some mods I would say go for it.

*dead*

How is War of Roses for those who have it or have played it? $15 on Amazon tomorrow. probably won't buy it but it's Chivalry's alternative.
wtf, 10.19$ for spec ops?! come on! amazon has that desert sea bundle for 9.99
such nonsense
And soon enough if you bought anything 2K in the past year you can get another $5 off to get that bundle for $5.

I already own both Bioshocks and I don't even want Spec Ops but at that price I will probably still grab it and then sell off the Bioshocks for a dolla'.

You know you have too many games on Steam when you can look at the top 20 best seller list and you own everything besides some of the DLC for some games and a few small games from a bundle lol

I've barely proper "played". Judges are friggin squares. I tip I'd give is start with one or two features you like (e.g. hair/color, eyes/eyeliner, or dress/pattern) and then build everything else around that.

Clearly Gabe is preparing for a big sale on Jan 6, 2013.

Heehee, I know the feeling. Looking over Tony's sale lists or the steam front page everything is quickly divided into have and don't-want. Only big things for me are a good deal on BL2 (not gonna happen this month) and some racers that have never dropped below $25 and are well overdue (e.g. Dirt Showdown, F1 2010/2011/2012).
Pretty ignorant when it comes to DRM, but is there any way to get the AC games on Steam w/o Uplay or just get it DRM-free?
No. AC2 onwards all require Uplay. Uplay is no longer the always online nightmare it used to be. Now it is one-time verification for most titles. Don't let Uplay stop you from enjoying AC2, ACB, & ACR.

Strange, I've bought several things from 2K over the past year (including Spec Ops a couple of weeks ago), yet I haven't received any emails about it. Got about 40 emails about getting a discount for EA games, but nothing for 2K or any other publisher that I've bought over the past year.

I think Tony said 2K stuff was prioritized last in terms of backfills since their promotion doesn't start until the 26th and runs until the 31st.
