Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Several multiplayer Steam games are available in 2-packs or 4-packs. These packs offer a discount over buying multiple copies of a game separately. We also maintain group buy trade threads for several games, so please use those threads if you're interested in setting up a group buy.


Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

With the caveat that there are still a couple of always online games like Settlers 7 and HAWX 2 I believe.

Also running some games in offline mode may lose you access to certain extra modes and items and such. I know M&M Heroes 6 and Anno 2070 is like this. I think for AC though you just lose Ubi achievments so eh.

Those I suppose you can rack up enough credits with those to get DLC for free so there's that.

But anyway yeah it's not as bad as it used to be. You do need to make sure you do the initial activation though because those UPlay servers have been known to go down some times and if you haven't run it at least once and happen to want to start when their servers are down (it's rare but it happened to me once) then you will be out of luck.

They are working on filling the emails. The 2K ones will probably come last so if not today then some time tomorrow probably. The 2K deal will be on 12/26. The others EA THQ and Ubi should be tomorrow.

In my direct experience for some games and in reading up on it for games I haven't played as far as I can tell it works for most games except Settlers 7 and HAWX 2. There may be other exceptions but I'm pretty sure most of their high profile games can be run in offline mode.

I can't sort by genre because my inner ADD and OCD collide at the speed of light. So, I just launch everything from Windows and let the clients sit in the background.


Still need to update with my newer purchases...

I use the grid view and replace them with custom images most of the time, or put one together myself. :)

Also, I am not using Windows 8, I just have a Windows 8 RTM theme on my Windows 7 (The only good thing about W8 is how it looks)

Getting more and more let down with Steam's sale. Amazon's bundle gets you spec ops cheaper and comes with both bioshock games. This is probably the worst Steam sale to date, nothing special like coal or tickets and the discounts have been pretty weak in comparison to Amazon, Gamersgate, GMG, etc.

Hell, I don't know. I'd buy it for a dollar. It's technically sound, just really kind of odd in story and gunplay. Very pretty, though.

I've got a steam tradeable copy of torchlight 2 for $7.50 from the flash deal 4-pack if anyone wants it
I've been listing it in the trade / group buy thread but no one seems to want it and i'm worried the price will go down before I sell it negating the $2.50 I saved by doing the 4-pack in the first place
so pm me if anyone wants it
 
I wish you could add tags to games and then have a checkbox system. If I want to play a fps/rpg I check those boxes and the games with both those tags show.

I think $10 solo or $7.50 as part of a 4 pack is the lowest T2 will be going for the duration of this sale so you priced it just fine. Gamefly couldn't even beat that and they were spanking the hell out of Steam in other areas like X-Com.

I guess a lot of CAGs just already have it.

There's always a chance for a Gamersgate frak up but barring that I just don't see it going less than $7.50 for the time being.

That would be nice. I don't have as many games as Anarchy (I mean, damn!) but I find I can never completely organize my games because some are FPS & RPG, or RPG & Strategy, and I wind up categorizing them by whichever genre dominates the game. It'd be nice to be able to just tag a game for each of its genre and find a list accordingly. So Fallout 3 would be covered in RPG, Open World, and FPS.
 
Man, I know it's stupid as fuck but I really wish Steam achievements were like 360. Some kind of score meta-game. Or easier to compare with friends or something.

I think that's as low as it has been so far, at least that I have seen.

Eh, it's up to you. I guess how much do you like vampires and/or do you want to use mods that require it?

It will go cheaper eventually. There's another DLC due out soon-ish so there's potential for the older DLC to be marked down further then.

I like Dawnguard; though it added Vampires, it also adds new areas [Southeast area of Riften, and a new Castle in the NorthWest].

If you like Skyrim, you'll like Dawnguard; AND LOVE DRAGONBORN! RAWR!

I played skyrim on ps3 and everyone knows how that worked out for dlc (no other problems) but anyway I haven't started skyrim on pc yet
how soon into the game could i play the dawnguard content?

I wish they would do like a graph or something. I think it would be cool when you clicked achievements if it should you several that let you know your ranking. So for instance the first could show where you rank against ALL other steam members for total achievements, another shows for the % you achieved for each game you have played etc etc. Kind of like when you are a kid and the Dr tells you that you are in the top ninty percentile for your height.

A real epeen measurer, you would know how you rank in multiple ways both against friends and the steam community at large.

Yeah my pops just got Win 8, but I don't see a need to change from Win 7, and I like my games lol. What are the biggest flaws so far when you used it? I told him not to get something like an OS in its early stages

Theme is pretty good, just alot to download and apply. & lol I was wondering how you got Steam to look like that, appreciate it!

Hey Motoki, or whomever has some insight on that groupees sale - are any of those single games worth the 75 cents? Any recommendations of the bunch? Why is La Mulana exciting?

When I tried it, the metro start menu is just not good to use with mouse/keyboard, yes there are 3rd party apps you can use to hide it and everything, but they all want more money :p (luckily I only paid $15 for windows 8 so not a huge loss, when it does eventually work, if that ever happens, I will most likely use it on another build that isn't for gaming)

the deal-breaker was that a lot of my games just had compatibility issues. Beyond the metro start menu it is a skinned windows 7 that just breaks all your stuff you have come to use alot of apps/games.

is it pretty? yes, the visual appearance of W8 is great, at least to me

Does it work? No...just no. To me, W7 just works.

Yeah. Something similar to what giantbomb does. And keeps track of your "S" ranks (games you've 100%'ed) across all platforms.
