Welcome to the Steam Deal Thread V6! You can find link to past threads at the bottom of this post. Read post #2 of this thread for Steam FAQs and more.

With the V6 Thread, we're trying a slight formatting change. We used to list every possible Steam deal in the OP, but they change too frequently for anyone to keep up with (even in the Wiki format). So now, we'll leave regular minor sales out of the OP. This post will keep track of major sales (Winter sale, etc.), Steam deals available through other sellers (like Amazon), Preorder deals, and Group Buys.

I would still greatly appreciate help from you folks at home in keeping this smaller-scale OP up-to-date. This is a Wiki post so anyone can contribute. Wiki instructions:
Thanks for your help! If you notice a sale has ended, feel free to delete its line from the sale list. Of course, if you see something does need to be added, then kindly add it to the list.

Make sure your changes match the thread's format! For example, every game that's on sale is part of an unordered list. When adding a game to the list, copy an existing line and update the link, title, and prices. That way, the format stays correct. Do not list percentages off! We list the original price and the sale price here. If you have any suggestions for major changes to the post/thread, PM me (EastX) about them.

Steam Sales - Updated 1/22

CAG Threads Featuring Steam Games on Sale Elsewhere - Updated 1/9

Preorder Deals - Updated 1/10
Group Buy Deals - Updated 1/9/13

Free Stuff - List needs updating with F2P games!
There are several free games and mods on Steam. These are a few choice ones; you can find a full list here. Note that free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.

Steam around CAG

If you are interested in joining the Steam CAG Community or participating in a trade or group buy with fellow Cheap Ass Gamers, please do so in the dedicated threads and not in the deal discussion thread. In the dedicated threads you will find CAGers with the same specialized interest who will be much quicker (and happier) to respond than in the Deals thread.

Past Special Sales

Visit www.steamgamesales.com to check previous sale prices on Steam games. We do keep track of some older sales here though:

Steam Retail Key List

What is a CD key and where can I find it?

Steam's explanation and list of Steam-activatable keys

The CD Key is a serial number with a combination of 13, 18, or 25 letters and numbers - it can be found on a sticker inside your game's case or printed on the game's quick reference card. The CD Key acts as your proof of purchase for the game - Steam Support may ask for it if you need to establish your ownership of an account. It is recommended that you keep your CD Key in a safe place to ensure the security of your account.

Done. (For some reason the site already changed to the UK version as my default after trying to get the Deal Stream achievement.

On topic, I note that GMG in the UK has Resident Evil 6 pre-order for £15.99 after you apply the 20% coupon (GMG20-P4DLK-FKYRS).

That's around $24.50 I think, representing a saving of about 29% or so. Worthwhile.

No guarantees that the game itself will be worthwhile of course. I didn't like RE5 at all and Racoon City was slated numerous times in this thread.
I just created threads and posted this in the Deals and Free Stuff Forums but you beat me to the post in here. Darn . Also both of these should activate on steam.
I also delayed my post to allow myself to purchase Mafia II since I've been waiting for it to drop to $5 or below. While many people have a very strong dislike of Brink, I absolutely loved it. However I played it as a coop game instead of a MP game, myself and a couple friends against the enemy team. It was great fun and I hope to go back to it sometime soon.
Great deal(s). Here are direct links so people don't have to go through Slickdeals.

Also, since the rebates are not linked from the item pages that I could see, here are the direct links to the rebate PDFs.

Ah, good job Motoki. I hadn't even noticed that the rebate links weren't on the pages. I already own both games, so I didn't look too hard at the store pages.
Bought. It's currently priced at $5.22 (after currency conversion rate in paypal). Pretty good deal at that price.
Can't bring myself to do it.

I already have Cargo and the only other game I care about in that bundle is Whispered World (and possibly Mata Hari).

I think this is one I'm going to pick up piecemeal.

Bundle Stars, like Indie Royale if you don't catch it in the first 20 minutes or so, is one of those ones where I'm like 'If it were just a little bit cheaper...'

I guess I really am a cheapass because around $4 I'll go for if I have some interest but $5+ I just can't bring myself to do unless I don't have any of the games in the bundle and really want them.

I thought it was a fixed price. I wanted whispered world and Mata Hari, hopefully alter ego is one of the mystery games.

It is, although the price kept showing up wrong on the main page half the time about 2 hours ago (but was fine at checkout).

Bundle Stars is like Indie Gala, but without a BTA or happy hour. They choose the same type of games.

That's the reason I just gave the slickdeals page.

Rebate is linked on your cart page.

I'm not sure I want to go through rebate hassle for Mafia II...
If anyone does not want to deal with a rebate I have brink for a dollar.
But what if I don't want to deal with Brink?

Brink is terrible and not worth the effort for free, even. Mafia II is very good, though not very long mission based "open world" game. Well worth the effort of a rebate.

Well it's been about 3 weeks since Deus Ex was on sale. We were due.
Is bundlestars worth? I mostly want crazy machines for my kids. I played The Incredible Machine back then, and was a blast.
The new Bundlestars is pretty good especially if you don't already have some of the games. I already had Cargo and Crazy Machines, but still picked it up. At less than $1 a game, it's hard to go wrong if you're at all interested in any of them.
I don't have a clue what they are but I've got more than you (145) so it's immediately the most important thing I've ever seen (until somebody with a higher score comes along at which point it's rendered worthless).

Interesting CAG fact: the UK front end of the site is called "Cheap Arse Gamer". It amuses me greatly
*ahem* 280 CAG Points here. How? Hell if I know

I have that game on my phone, and didn't see anything fun on it. Maybe the pc version is better, but I doubt it.

They really did take their time this time

I also have Cargo. I think I'll bite. How's crazy machine on Windows 7 64? You don't have to struggle to make it work?
Weekend Deal will probably be Magicka or Just Cause 2 then.
Magicka could be free right now. Or a "year long sale"
People ask how certain games are on Win7.

Are there any games with issues on Win7?

I just have never ran into a compatibility issue.
It seems some games have compatibility issues with Windows 7 64. The only one I had was with rainbow Six Vegas 1. I barely could launch it, but it crash to desktop frequently. Can't remember other game with such an issue, but is really frustrating. I REALLY want to play Vegas 1

Original Bioshock

By miracle I got it to run on 8 though.

L.A. Noire is also supposed to be pretty bad with Windows 7. Then again, good luck with the Rockstar warez you'll be installing if you have that game for PC.

By the way, I picked up the new BundleStars. I have spares of Cargo and Helldorado, $1 apiece Paypal if anyone is interested.

Same here everything is just peachy for me. Never had a problem with bioshock or LA Noire they both run fine.
And I thought I was cool with my 185. :applause:
105.... at least im over 100?

Really? I had zero problems with Bioshock.

Yeah, I tried every fix there is besides reinstalling my OS to get LA Noire working before I gave up.

I had a hell of a time getting Starcraft 1 to run proper unfortunately >

First BundleStars I've grabbed, and probably the first bundle I've bought for over $5. Hell of a lot better than the swill Indie Royale has been churning out lately, not to mention everything is Steam and another two games are coming.

Then again, I didn't have any of the games.

Shoite, that Garry's Mod "Midweek Madness" pic scares me.

The Complete Edition is tempting for $5, especially since it has evaded that price point for quite some time. Nevertheless, the known issues with the port keep me from diving in.

LA Noire Complete for $5? Where is this please?

If u havent played La Noire yet, buy it for $5!! It's one of my fave games of this generation. It runs fine on Windows 7.

It seems the topic doesn't exist anymore, but Newegg had a Promotional Code that took $5 off select PC titles, and L.A. Noire was one of those games. (In fact, it's still $10 on the website.) Sadly, I don't know what the Promotional Code is/was or if it's still valid. If I come across the code, I'll be sure to share it.
