just kidding
Hey.. you might be right ;)

I'm going with that, or Giana Sisters.
Hey.. you might be right ;)

If it was both, that would make my day. Of course then I would need to cough up to BTA. Right now it's not worth it for me. In fact, now that I think about it'd probably be cheaper to pick up both in the trade thread.

Thoughts on the new Indie Royale?

I impulse bought Testament of Sherlock Holmes last night from Amazon and now I'm wondering if I should grab a couple of games from the Groupees bundle too. Although I'm curious... if I only grab a couple of the Sherlock games out of that bundle, do I also get Jack the Ripper for free? Or do I have to buy all the non-bonus tier games to get the bonus games?

I paid $10 for Alan Wake a while ago and haven't played it (installed it though! so... progress?), so of course it goes on sale for 90% off now.

I did beat a few games recently though, which is more than I can say for the last year. I finished Tomb Raider, Bioshock Infinite, Stealth Bastard, Thomas Was Alone, and Hitman Absolution. I'm calling this summer the summer of backlog eradication :p
Not bad. The only game in it that I'm that interested in is Primordia.

Incidentally, I just bought my first Be Mine bundle.
And now the Groupme bundle added Primordia, redering the new Indie Royale pointless.
Hey.. you might be right ;)

Most likely some part of previous bundles though

Hardly pointless... two car games!!! ..and a promising looking adventure game.
Just to go back to the wrestling game chat for a minute, one game that I liked (and was far better than it should've been) was Def Jam Vendetta. It should've been awful and wasn't.

The follow-ups (Fight for NY, Icon) weren't anywhere near as good though.
Def Jam Vendetta was absolutely fantastic. Way too much fun.
Speaking of cards, anyone else frustrated that you have to switch back and forth between your inventory and the marketplace to see what cards you need to complete your set?

Me too. So the next version of Enhanced Steam fixes that :)
If you want pointless, get Bundle in a Box. It's a bunch of re-bundled games brought to you by Capsule Computers of Australia, who manage to always give away something but never actually give away anything...

Since this is the de facto general PC gaming thread, I thought I would pimp a project I'm extremely excited for: http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cze/hex-mmo-trading-card-game

Hex is an upcoming Free-to-Play digital TCG by Cryptozoic Entertainment, makers of the World of Warcraft TCG. The mechanics look a lot like Magic, but without the restrictions that having a physical presence introduce. The plan is to offer PVE with dungeons, loot, and other MMO conventions, as well as a PVP side that plays more like a traditional TCG. Crypto's experienced in the TCG market and is already two years into development of the game. They've been bringing in pros from other TCGs to get feedback and the creative head, Cory Jones, is a former pro Magic player himself -- in short, these guys know TCGs.

They've posted a gameplay video on their Twitch channel, and have a ton of articles on their website www.hextcg.com. I've got a lot of confidence in their ability to deliver a solid product that fills a niche I've been looking for (a reasonably priced, online TCG with both PVP and PVE elements) so I'm in for a hefty donation, that includes Guild Master and Raid Leader perks. If there's enough interest here, I'd be more than happy to start up a CAG guild come alpha/beta so that others can share in the bonus exp and hand size. :)

The Kickstarter has a week or so left and they're already at ~530% of their funding so there's no danger of it not being funded, but if it's something you'd like the Kickstarter tiers provide a lot of really good in-game value compared to the pledge amounts.

Every time you mention this I become more sure that it's never coming out. ;)
Is FTL worth it at $5 or should I just wait for the summer sale?
For me it was. I've got a feeling the Dev isn't interested in listing it much lower, because sales have been so good.

It's like an Oregon Trail in space, for adults, with great (but somewhat repetitive) music. I think $5 is a fine price for it. I put in 16 hours (some of that was likely AFK), and I could go back to it again at any time.

So if I buy at a certain pledge level with multiple starter packs can I give one of those starter packs to someone else so they can play against me? Or would they all be tied to my account?

GUFAW.

I prefer consoles. Where Sony,Micro$hafter, and Ninty dictate prices for life. Explicitly. Where Super Mario Galaxy still costs 50$ 10 years after release.
Screw PC market place competition.

On another note:
While people are up in arms about the PS4/Xboner pre-owned tax......isn't that what Steam has been doing for quite awhile? We can't sell our games once they are locked to our accounts.

:note: some exaggeration has been included.

The starter packs and all cards are tradeable, so you could definitely do that. Mercenaries, deck sleeves, and other account perks (free drafts and whatnot) aren't.

I actually found that quite funny myself. I'm assuming the outrage is probably the fact Sony/MS don't cut prices on digital games as much as you see on PC, but still, funny to see that complaint in the Steam thread.

Wouldn't it be wicked if I could buy XCOM used through steam from anther user. For like 3$ when they were done with it, relinquishing their rights to use it anymore. I don't know why thats not a reality. Oh right, then we'd own the things we buy. NEVERMIND.
I was just thinking to myself Steam versus Micro$shafter pre-owned tax a couple days ago. Wait. Uhm. What about Steam? Woops.

Steams great, don't get me wrong. I'd take Steam over brick/mortar of 15 years ago. Its also quite flexible all things considered. I'm just trying to put things in perspective.

You can't sell your digitally purchased games from PSN/XBLA either, so it's nothing new.
Is FTL worth it at $5 or should I just wait for the summer sale?
I think it's worth $5. However, it's been discounted regularly since release and I believe has been as low as $3.99. The developer usually matches sale prices on their site, which they are currently doing, and if you buy it there you get DRM-free downloads as well as a Steam key. If you do choose to buy it, that might be a better way to go. I think the game is excellent, but I'd wait if you want a better price because I don't think it'll be too long before you see one.

Wow, it's really cool that they price match on their site. It also makes my decision harder now, since I have to choose between Steam or Amazon as well as buying it now or later. Hmm.

I hadn't seen this. I might jump on it. Thanks!

EDIT: Or not . . . never bought from BundleStars before but they declined my payment twice with no reason given. They probably won't get my business in the future, let alone take my business.

I wasn't a big fan of Plants vs Zombies. It was good but just not my type of game. I absolutely loved Mass Effect though. I'd like to see some more on this at E3 :)

I'm fairly certain you're correct. $3.99 is it's low - from the developer themselves is where I think I got my copy (came with Steam Key).
Wow, it's really cool that they price match on their site. It also makes my decision harder now, since I have to choose between Steam or Amazon as well as buying it now or later. Hmm.
Another thing about buying directly from developers through the Humble Store is that they sometimes add things. For example, I got Kairo when it was just a DRM-free download on PC (and maybe Mac and Linux). They later added in Android and then a Steam key. I could see FTL coming to mobile platforms eventually and there's that chance it'd be included there.
Thanks guys, now that you've bought FTL, you've guaranteed it'll be the Humble Bundle bonus!
I'd be jazzed if that happened. That way, I have FTL for myself and I can give FTL to someone else. Just like a communicable disease. :D
I was messing with the cards last night and then realized that I was putting far too much effort into something with far less return than my per hour income at work... and spending my recreational time doing it.
Yeah, I realized that fairly quickly on, myself. I'm sitting there refreshing the market for a few pennies off, and I realize that I'm effectively working for less than a dollar an hour. Or saving a dollar an hour. Anyway. I stopped. Now, if I want something, I just buy it.
Primordia was announced as the next/final(?) bonus for Be Mine 8. Really kills the value of the current IndieRoyale.
Sure does. I'm glad for it. Been wanting Primordia bigtime. No need for Indie Royale this time around.

I have an extra Lucius key from the IR Mayhem bundle if you want it?

FTL is absolutely worth $5 bucks. I purchased it last year for $5 and I have played for 100 hours according to Steam. Not only is it one of those games that you can play forever if you chose, it's also a game where you will be like ahh I'll clear just one more sector... Before you know it it's 4am in the morning.

So yes, FTL is a super fun/addicting game and it's one of my top 5 games released last year (better then most $60 games =)
Been there.
That's like me and Agricultural Sim. It's like "I'll just till one more field" and before I know it the clock reads 4:00 AM and I've tilled 20 more fields, doubled my crops, and set up a roadside stand.

Well, I bought my copy of FTL, and then just afterwards checked this thread to remind myself that a sale of an indie during a Humble Bundle often means it's coming up as the bonus game.

Oh well, FTL is worth it, and worst case, I just get an extra copy to gift away to someone.

You disgust me.
