GabeN is slowly rubbing your penny all over himself.

Opinions: Should I plug $40 into Steam Wallet for the upcoming Summer Sale or GamersGate Blue Coins for... umm... their Summer Sale I guess (I have the 20% comp discount). Without getting into a bunch of explanation, just assume I'm doing one or the other and things like "Just keep it as cash" isn't an option.
50-50 split? ...also depends how how much DLC you're looking to scoop up on the steam summer sale (the only thing you can really count on)

I like Gamersgate better... plus you could always convert it back on GG with the 20% discount by buying games for people without the discount.

Back on topic, my steam looks like this:

Totally not cool since it blocks out my cool ultra meat man. Anyone have any clue what's wrong?

I'll buy mostly blue coins, I too have the discount and the best deals I've bought are the GG ones with it, but maybe if you are into the Cards madness leave some Steam Wallet, you never know when a game could be "free" after selling some cards.

How many Brütal Legend cards are there anyway? I took a peek over at the market page for the cards, and there's 3 frickin' pages worth of cards. Almost half of that is foils, but still...

http://steamcommunity.com/market/search?q=Br%C3%BCtal+Legend+card
I feel like this should be added to the list of games that support cards in the second post. So if anyone wants to help, just list how many drop and how many total cards a game has, as I don't have most of them.

15 i think
Good lord. What is that, 8 drops? That's gotta take forever to get all your cards.

I was trying to figure out if it would be worth it for me to go back and increase my donation to the Double Fine bundle to get Brutal Legend, but with the price of the cards, it looks like I'd only recoup half of my investment.

If you have the AppID of the game in question (which can be found in the URL of the store page), you can simply go

http://steamcommunity.com/ my/ gamecards/ (appid)

And it will show you how many cards there are, your collecting progress, and how many drops you have left.

I'm thinking about adding this link to the next version of Enhanced Steam. It seems like it's a popular question people have and it would be easy to add to the store page of a game that supports trading cards.

Didn't expect Brutal Legend cards to crash so fast.  Bought a key from someone for Go Home Dinos ($2.50) plus one of the card drops so have 7 cards to break even.  Now they're going for like thirty cents tops so unless there's some kind of rally I'll have actually PAID to own Brutal Legend... the horror.*

*PS - I hate Jack Black.  PPS - I don't like Metal Music.

Managed to get a foil for Brutal Legends which is probably the worst game so far to have gotten one on... but at least it practically paid for the Amazon pack I got it in, and 4 games to boot :)

@above, it's because there's so damn many of them. There's only so much people want to put down for a badge. More cards for a badge means people want to pay less per card. Faerie Solitaire is another example with 9 cards.

Definitely NOT worth it unless you initially paid like $5+ for the HIB Weekly. Unless something crazy happens and/or you get a foil you'd be lucky to get $2.50ish from eight card drops. And by the time you idled for them the price might even go down more.

Yeah, that's the problem. The more cards, the cheaper each one will be. Should put a cap on them -- 15 is kind of excessive.

Like Icarus on gossamer wings I dared to dream and flew too close to the sun.

The first few hours after a game gets cards seems to be the best time to craft a badge as values for cards drop so much. I was able to get all the cards for Brutal Legend minus 1 through drops and trades. The other card was $0.32.

That's definitely the best time to buy if you are a crafter because people are chain undercutting each other.  Prices might rise a bit later but I hate messing around with the market.

I dunno, I tend to see prices fall more and more as time passes. At least today.

What are people trading for cards? I'm waiting for prices to hit around .10 cents a card before I might craft some badges, but if I can buy the backgrounds I want for cheaper, I might bypass that.

I can't say why, and I'm not sure if it's right... but i feel oddly satisfied and amused reading that.

...I suppose due to the, "I suppose I'll buy it because I want it and it has cards".

I gotta think that the market for Super Meat Boy cards & stuff is primed to collapse. It was part of Humble indie Bundle 4, which was bought in bulk by people farming for gifts/coal during the 2011 Holiday sale. There where a lot of people out there who ended up with 50 to 100 accounts. A few of those people got banned, but I gotta think that most of them still have all their accounts.

Of course, they gotta get all those accounts into the card beta. But that takes less than 24 hours at this point.

Chance at foils. It's like buying scratch-off lotto tickets. At this rate, though, it's getting to be not worth the while as most foils for popular games seem to drop below $5ish.

I just logged out and back in and having to download an update apparently. Doesn't help my buddies are on my server so they be stealing my bandwidth. Bastards.

Primed to crash? It crashed. Was lucky to get 30ish cents each for the cards like five hours ago.

Primed to crash? It crashed. Was lucky to get 30ish cents each for the cards like five hours ago.
No, I'm not talking about the regular "let's sell our cards ASAP and undercut everybody else" sort of thing that drives the price of cards down to $0.30 apiece. I mean a crash where cards/Emoticons/Backgrounds can be bought for $0.10 a piece. I think that may be coming.

Oh right. Yeah typically most popular games' backgrounds and emotes fall to ten cents or so.
No they don't. I should know, I've spent the last 10 days or so scanning the market looking for cool emoticons or backgrounds to pick up. With the good ones, the price stays up above $0.25. In most case, well above that. The only times that you can grab something for around ten cents is when it's a piece of shit emoticon/background that nobody wants. Or somebody screws up with the placement of a decimal point.

I bought my background for .08 cents, don't think it can crash much lower.
It could. But not so it would keep you up at night for overpaying.

Look, if you guys wanna say that the emoticons/backgrounds couldn't get much cheaper, OK, that's fine. Maybe I'm wrong on that. But I think that the price on the cards are gonna hit an all time low for the card market. Simply because I think that the market is gonna end up getting flooded. I just have a feeling that it's gonna approach beta invite levels of market saturation.

Oh, I certainly don't disagree on the cards.  We're pretty much seeing it today.  Only way you have to break even now is with a game you have a coupon for and get at 50% off or whatever where the cards hold at $1+  Stuff that's readily available like all the games today were... you're looking at 30-40 cents per card tops.  Again, Brutal Legend might go a bit higher but the fact that there's fifteen cards in the set will likely keep the prices down.

To add: I think Mark of the Ninja will almost certainly be in the next batch given the midweek deal.

I see multiple items for meat boy around .9 to .10 cents.  I don't really think it gets much lower than that.  For my .08 cents I gave Valve a penny, the dev a penny, and the seller .06 cents.  It gets to the point where things aren't even worth listing if they fall past that and I noticed even the beta invites have evened out around .09 cents.

I think .09 to .10 cents will be where things will bottom out. I'm not saying other items won't bottom out to the same price, but the items already at that price probably won't fall much more.

I like dropping in stuff for .01 or .02. If they stick around long enough for someone to see it causes some drops. I get entertained.

Everybody check your profiles. They just added those badges based on how many games you have. I noticed something was weird when my Steam level jumped from 11 to 13.

I'm now level 0. If it weren't for the money that I sunk into leveling up to level 10, I'd almost want it to stay that way. Level 0 seems kinda cool.

EDIT: Oh poo, just refreshed and I jumped to level 14.

Badges just completely disappeared from my profile. Wut.
Mine did the same thing and showed I had no badges but said I had earned stuff to level up. Said I was a level 0, but when I clicked level up everything returned. Just a guess but I figure the badges for games are probably at 50 count intervals.
