Unless someone convinces me that I need to play it now, I'll still wait for the FTL Indie Bundle. Otherwise I'll be happy to pay full price when I can get to it.

Damn, and we haven't even gotten to the Steam summer sale yet...
Interesting, I just signed into steam and received Poker Night steam gift. This is now my third copy one from pre-ordering Poker Night 2 and the tell-tale bundle. Anyone else receive a game?
Little Inferno and Thomas Was Alone are absolutely games.

Just because you find them aesthetically pretentious doesn't make them less mechanically sound as what we generally consider a traditional videogame.
I didn't. :( I bought Poker Night a while back, got a second copy from Poker Night 2 preorder, but I didn't get a third one with this bundle.
Why would anyone want multiple copies of Poker Night anyway, not like it's a good game or anything.
y u trolin spoder
Okay. I gotta say this.

I tried really hard to like Proteus. It seems like my kinda thing. Indie, cuteish. But no. You wander around an island. You interact with nothing. There's nice music. You see some stuff. There's some chirping things, buzzing things, hopping things, pecking things. There's no story. You progress through seasons. The environment changes with each season.

The end.

The fucking end.

Every time you play the island, you get a new island. However, the "secrets" of the game are abundant on each island. Whatever novelty was there during your first playthrough is lost by the second. And really, there's so little to see that that a second playthrough isn't warranted.

I played through the "game." Visited the island again hoping for some amazement to spark. Nada.

So yeah, play if you must. But brace yourself for disappointment.
I didn't hate it. Exactly 40 minutes to to play the first runthrough. It was cute and fun, but I agree: I think there were more effects I could have triggered and landmarks that I missed, but I'm not sure I'm that interested in playing again.

I was a little confused when I floated away into the aurora. I thought the game was glitching.
I already had PN1, in fact I preordered it way back when, yet I didn't get an extra copy. Not that I really care but it would've been nice.

Interesting, I just signed into steam and received Poker Night steam gift. This is now my third copy one from pre-ordering Poker Night 2 and the tell-tale bundle. Anyone else receive a game?
Huh. I figured the situation was that the game was flagged to go into inventory for the PN2 bonus and it worked here as an unintended bug. And that, like with the Valve games, it would only happen once. But you got the inventory copy twice? I didn't, but I still have the bonus copy from PN2 in my inventory. Do you have two in inventory, or had you already moved one elsewhere? Just want to work out the specifics.
GUFAW.

I prefer consoles. Where Sony,Micro$hafter, and Ninty dictate prices for life. Explicitly. Where Super Mario Galaxy still costs 50$ 10 years after release.
Screw PC market place competition.

[cut]

:note: some exaggeration has been included.
I know you're exaggerating, but I wanted to point out that Super Mario Galaxy is one of the (few) titles in Nintendo's version of the Greatest Hits series. And to this day, I'm still amazed they ever implemented that. Used to be that you could count on a first-party Nintendo title retaining the same MSRP forever, supporting your point.

I redeemed the first one a while back when Poker Night 2 came out, and put those in my library and then again with the telltale bundle games. Signed in tonight and it said new inventory item and now I have one in my inventory

(Already posted in the Amazon thread, but in case not everyone checks there...)

If I made a Dark Souls CAG Steam group, would anyone be interested? With the DSCfix mod, co-op is crazy easy to set up. Would be fun to hook up with some other CAGs who play.

I've also been dabbling in retexturing things in the game, so who knows, I may take requests from fellow group members. :p

Just an update for TF2, I tried upgrading for premium today for the .36 cent item and while it did upgrade me to premium, it did not give me any trading card drops. The plus side though is that I had like 20 something items and like 10 more I got today with that loot mining code and I could NOT sell them when I was not premium, but now that I am premium 15 of those items are marketable.

I have sold 3 for around $1.30 so far and have another $6.50 worth of items left on the market. If they all sell then the .36 cent premium investment was definitely worth it.
Just an update for TF2, I tried upgrading for premium today for the .36 cent item and while it did upgrade me to premium, it did not give me any trading card drops.

What about free to play games like Team Fortress 2 or Dota 2?

Free to play games drop game cards based on your in-game purchasing. For every $9 USD spent (approximate) since the start of the Steam Trading Card Beta, you will earn one card drop. This card will drop at some point as you play. If you have made in-game purchases in Dota 2 or Team Fortress 2 prior to the Steam Trading Card Beta, or if you owned Team Fortress 2 prior to the Free to Play update, you will have 4 or 5 additional card drops available.
Blap.
Blap.
Yeah, but people were getting the 4-5 drops with premium upgrade earlier in the week. Just confirming Valve fixed the glitch.
Blap.
People WERE getting cards drops just for upgrading to premium, so the FAQ wasn't always correct. They just recently fixed it, probably.

^ Thank you for the update, and I agree. I used TF2 as my crutch to get to level 10, in which I gather foil card drops occur? The unfortumate part is that I sold a few cards while I was doing it and subsequently have zero drops left. If I were so inclined to pay an extra ($9-$0.36) to get extra drops I would do so. But in general the investment to be able to get cards in TF2 is definitely worth it, since you can generally receive compensation based on one sale alone.

(btw, I have a high tolerance for alcohol but I just drank a bottle of some hard liquor an am hammered so fuck you, I made sense to myself when I wrote this)

And disregard this post because apparently they no longer give you drops for your first purchase regardless of its value. fuck it if you have to spend $9 on a F2P game just to get some cards, because you won't get equal revenue in Steam wallet from selling cards.

Generally if they had a green border they were from another game purchase / achievement - not standard weekly drops. So don't expect to make $7/week :)

Well, I bought an item for 49 cents to see if it was just the 36 cent trial purchases that weren't getting cards, but no luck.

Still, I had the Faerie Pin item, which I couldn't sell as non-premium, and now that I'm premium I can make exactly 49 cents profit off it, so that works. Premium for free, I guess.

The best item to buy from the store is backpack expander, it is on sale now at 80% off for only 99 cents. You will need it later when you have more and more TF2 items or you can easily resell it for around the same price back to the market.

Need some opinions

Wondering if the new DMC is worth it at $30 (or will it go lower in the summer?), how long is it and is there any replayability also how does it compare to a game like Bayonetta I liked that game better than the other DMC games to be honest.

Also how is the port? Will it blow away console version running on a GTX 660 Ti?

I've seen people selling it for $15 in the trade thread. Not sure if they were Steam copies or not.

And I have no idea, but it's safe to say it's much, much better than the console version.

So yeah, have you guys seen that new Bundle in a Box? Not only does it suck, but there is NO MENTION of the BONUS you get if you're one of the top 3 contributors.

Qfuwqnh.png

Did anyone else besides me notice that the e-mail mentioned this but the website didn't? And is this not indicative of how much Capsule Computers sucks? They don't even want you to know this shit unless you subscribe. Can't be bothered to put it on their website. Such bullshit.

You should be ashamed if you buy this junk bundle.
Blade is just dissing the bundle because he's gonna swoop in last minute and buy into one of the top 3 contributor spots. ;)
Oh dude, you know I want that LoL custom mouse pad. I bet it's got Sivir in some sultry loin cloth on it and everything. Forever alone masturbation is a great form of birth control! ;)

(assuming the LoL CE applies to both, if not then fuck it)

It has been mentioned on the website since the start of the bundle. It was the firs thing I noticed after checking which games are included.
Sarcasm. I use 2deep4u as a pejorative for these arthouse 'games' that aren't really games. I'm a huge indie game player. I buy everything. I bought Dinner Date. I played Dinner Date. Honestly, I liked it better than Proteus.

I thought I had discovered something cool in winter. I left the island and started walking out to sea. Because I had no context of land to center me, I thought I had somehow walked so far out to sea that I climbed into the clouds.

Only after I looked at the Steam forums did I realize this was supposed to happen in winter.

Honest question: can you define, concisely and exactly, what a video game is?

And having done that, expand on how the above media are not, by that definition, games?

EDIT: Sorry guys, I broke it. I forgot about the quoting Youtube embed bug. That's still not fixed? I remember that first popping up in one of the old Kmartgamer threads of yore.
what are these shift keys for? I haven't redeem one of them before, since I don't play Borderlands 2 that much
I just got a few Purple Weapon drops from these.

EDIT:
Oh, you get Golden Keys when you redeem these keys over GBX's Shift program.
You have to sign-up for Shift and then tie it to your game Steam account (PC).
You go to the Golden Chest in Sanctuary and redeem these Golden Keys these for some kind of drop (weapons, skins, etc).

Did the sqle on Payday not happen yet or did it come and go already? I wanna buy the DLC for 2.49 like the OP lists, but it shows full price for me

oh ok, I have heard of this I got one golden key when I pre-ordered the game and didn't know you could get more, that is why I never tried to open the chest since I'm only lvl. 9 and I heard you get rarer and better weapons if you are at a higher level

The BTA games suck but $2 for all the Blackwell games sounds good to me, I grabbed it. Now I need to find out in which order I'm supposed to play them in.

I have like 50+ golden keys. They are really generous with these shift codes. Haha.

I'm waiting until I get to a higher level before I use 'em though. I'm only level 31 on my one and only character. Been getting back into the borderlands for some lootin' & shootin' though. About to start my 2nd playthrough.

Anytime you open the chest, the loot is the same level as your current character. Weapons will be purple or magenta and relics will be blue or purple.

Honestly though, by the time you get to a really high level you probably already have some good Legendary weapons that are better than what you can get from the chest 99% of the time. There are so many codes that there's really no point in hoarding them until late game.

I find it best to use a key whenever I find myself facing some challenging enemies and the weapons I've collected so far just aren't cutting it.
I have never gotten a skin from the chest. Does that actually happen?
I have like 50+ golden keys. They are really generous with these shift codes. Haha.

I'm waiting until I get to a higher level before I use 'em though. I'm only level 31 on my one and only character. Been getting back into the borderlands for some lootin' & shootin' though. About to start my 2nd playthrough.
Yeah, like Hal said above, don't bother holding onto them for that long (at least not all of them). I always use a couple every 5 levels or so. Why? It's fun, and you get some cool stuff that is actually really useful for where you are in the game.

There are always more Shift codes (I think asheskitty has like 100+ keys accumulated). I gave up putting them in when I had like 60 or 70, because honestly I'll never use that many.

Yeah, I still have over a hundred golden keys hoarded. I've never seen a skin from the Golden Chest in Sanctuary. I've only seen skins as Quest Rewards, Drops, Slot Machine Rewards, Vending Machines... come to think of it, I've never seen a skin in a chest, period*.

*Flow, would that be "period" or "full stop"? ^_~

Edit: For those who haven't expended a bunch of shift keys/golden keys. The chest tends to have some random purples (maybe blues) weapons/shields/mods, just random, not necessarily related to the class of the toon you are opening it on. I don't recall ever getting a Legendary (organge) from it (probably happens, just rare). I have gotten my share of E-Tech weapons from it (super-purple, higher ammo cost and low velocity shots though).

This. Only used it on 2nd and 3rd playthroughs when my current weapons sucked. The curves on those playthroughs are unforgiving to the point where green quality weapons are worthless and blues can be obsolete after a level or two. So the chests are a good way to ensure you have updated corrosive and fire epics.

I stopped entering the codes after a while. Think I had around sixty but only used about twenty or so. Keeping in mind you can simply swap 'leveling gear' in between characters there's little need to farm the chest at level cap or every time you try a new class.

Also, the chest won't ever contain legendary weapons (or pearlescent weapons but honestly most pearlescent weapons are inferior to legendaries).

You do also get skins from gaining Badass Levels.

I'm guessing he meant that the Shift codes sometimes granted a skin (for special occasions).

Also worth mentioning that it's trivially easy to dupe keys if that sort of thing doesn't cause any moral objections. Which means it's even less important to hoard all your keys or save them until you're at max level in Ultimate Vault Hunter mode or something.

This might be a stupid question but how do some of you guys convince yourself not to buy games you already have on console when it's in sale dirt cheap on Steam. I've been double dipping into oblivion because of Steam and a pc able to run all the games I already have. Please help.

I don't console people for moronically buying a console but y'all are lame so you have my condolences for that instead.
