I feel like I'm spending so much more time keeping up w/ this Steam Thread, when I really should actually be playing Games W/ Cards that I own already!

Oh good Magicka, for awhile there I wasn't sure if I'd have a chance to pick that up with a discount.

Also enough with the cards already Steam.  I was far enough behind on idling as it was and there's an extra 2 or 3 games that keep popping up on my badge list every few hours it seems.  Hopefully, I can get more than 20 cents per card on some of these before the market crashes on them again.

/still super bitter about the Summer Sale Dead Island foil price collapse.

Well damn. I happened to miss the first community vote but when I voted this time it said I had voted 4 times and earned a card, and that 2 more votes will earn me another card. Lo and behold I didn't get a card. Thanks Steam >.>

You didn't earn a card after the 3rd vote? The message means that you've earned 1 card total from voting so far, and you'll earn another after 2 more votes

You get one every third vote. That message is just a bug.

I suspect, and I took an Intro to Econ course in college some 20 years ago, that the card market will be a less and less viable way to make a lot of money. Or rather the amount of effort in farming a crapton of cards to sell for 10-15¢ each will seem less attractive. They keep adding more and more games with cards meaning the available customer base gets more and more diluted and people stop caring so much since they'll never collect them all anyway.

Ugh, I should've looked at McPixel card prices before idling it... that was a waste of time, not even worth listing them for like a dime a piece.

You know, they really should split up DLC's into sub-sections b/t Main Content DLC's; Cosmetic DLC's; and Misc DLC's.

When a game has 20+ DLC's, it can get kind of ANNOYING trying to figure out what's what for DLC.

Hmmm, Sleeping Dogs cards?  Could it be... will the fox finally craft a badge?  No.  At least not until I am allowed to trade and buy off the community market again.

lol

I assume by the end of this sale the vast majority of games will have cards.  And when KF gets cards I am going to be like a level 50 foil badass.

Nope. I didn't get one after the 3rd vote.

You get one every third vote. That message is just a bug.
Except I didn't.

You got the card in your last vote. It's every 3 votes for a card.
No, actually I didn't get one from my last vote.

Sleeping Dogs? Really? That's only been on sale 9234598 times in the last six months.
Well guess what...since this is a community vote, you'll also get to see Sleeping Dogs go on sale as a Flash and a Daily deal!

Debating Endless Space, Anyone play it have any thoughts on it compared to other games like Civ or Masters Of Orion?

I just looked into the Steam Achievement Manager tool folks have been talking about here, and I kinda don't care how useful it is. What the hell is with this "This server is not run by faggots" crap?! I don't know if it's some kind of bizarre internet humor, but I don't want to download anything from this kind of douchebag.
Seriously? That's just plain not right.

North Point, Zodiac and Year of the Snake are the only DLCs that include storyline and new missions, everything else is cosmetics/money/xp points for Wei and racing missions.

I only finished Zodiac, its fun but really short, like 30 minutes tops, never got around finishing North Point.

For the base game, easy a 9/10, got it during the past Christmas sale because was super cheap over GMG and ended up playing it the whole time until I complete it.

I don't need need to buy Sleeping Dogs on Steam (have it on console) but I want the cards

What is wrong with me
Nothing.

PC version has been said to be vastly superior in numbers of ways (to console version), anyways:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WVsFP0eDYV8

EDIT:

I thought the PC version of SD was fantastic myself.

{Shrug}

If I see Nixxes name on a PC port for a Square Enix game, expect me to smile. They been doing pretty good PC versions for years.

Any chance on Dark Souls Prepare to Die edition returning? I missed it the first time... And still hoping that Skyrim drops... :)
There's a good chance Dark Souls will get a daily deal. In past years flashes have been recycled or previewed dailies. Also don't forget that Amazon has been price-matching and there's an additional -15% coupon floating around. Check the Amazon thread for details.

Just a head's up, you can buy Faster Than Light directly from the dev and you get a steam key as well as a DRM-free copy. The game is discounted through the dev's store, but interestingly, it's only 50% off. I didn't check the price of FTL yesterday, so I don't know if that 50% off means that the dev is late in matching the steam price, or if the steam price is a mistake.
Heads up: t's -75% now.

Can anyone tell me how large the Steam App is to download fully? I'm getting a nice PC later down the road and figure I shouldn't miss out on these sales and I have a data limit broadband right now.

Also, can I download the app later and install it on the new pc and download and play the games I bought before?

Thanks in advanced.
You're not planning on playing anything and just want to buy games while they're on sale? Then just do it through the web browser. You don't need the client to make purchases, just to play games and activate keys.

Does anyone know why it takes so long to uninstall games on steam? I have 5 windows up on my desktop uninstalling games and demos I don't play.

Is there a faster way to uninstall games? Can I just delete the files in my steam directory or will that mess something up?
Seconds. Restart Steam and those windows will disappear. The only time have needed to delete a directory is when I used a free weekend and the game disappeared from my library, but didn't uninstall. (FYI, it's worth checking your directories to see if this happened...)

I never go back in the thread anymore to try to catchup, it takes way to long.
No one comes here anymore. It's too crowded.

So how does this work with Steam Achievement Manager? I have multiple games open in it but the cards seem to come for more than one game but at a much slower rate than one game at a time. Is this how others are doing it as well or did I miss a step? Do you know if you can run an extra non-SAM game in steam and earn for all of them?

I'd exercise caution with this tool. A bunch of people here have pointed out that it probably violates Steam's terms of service. I've never heard of anyone losing their account over it, but it's also not a risk I'd be willing to take.

Now this is just my opinion, I loved SR3, but grew tired/bored of GTA. I don't know what it was, I just couldn't get into the game itself and I've played them since their inception. I'd drive around, kill people, etc., but the missions just did nothing for me. I think the over the top nature of SR3 is what hooked me, even though they are of a similar genre/gameplay. Sleeping Dogs is unfortunately still in my backlog.
I still have to try SR3. I found the first two boring and inferior to GTA, so hopefully the third is a big improvement.

is God Mode worth finding four people and splitting a pack?
Godmode is a fun little arena shooter, controls and looks ok for what it is. Not much of a story, there is a little voice over intro at the beginning of every map, telling you how you got there but not much else. This game is meant to be played in co-op though, it gets pretty boring if you doing it solo. Here is a good mini-review another CAG posted:

God Mode is a quirky hoard mode game, where you endlessly fight demons till you obtain godhood (level 24). There is only 1 mode, the story is I think a 1 sentence explanation of the premise. Something like "You were of a bloodline banished from olympus fighting to reclaim your status as a god." There are only 5 maps to play on and the community is pretty small. Most of the games value (okay pretty much ALL of it) comes from the tests, which are dynamic elements that change the way the game is played. It's a fun game, maybe not worth $10 dollars, but certainly enjoyable in short bursts.

I still have to try SR3. I found the first two boring and inferior to GTA, so hopefully the third is a big improvement.
I ain't played SR1 - since it never hit PC.

SR2 PC was good and a lot of fun - though, it wasn't a good technical port, back when it came out. And yeah - that game was still not on GTA's level.

SR3 PC was just...something else. While I did expect it to be good - it just surprised me in A LOT of ways. Totally took SR2 - and make it 5,000 times more ridiculous in every single solitary way that I can think of (humor, story-telling, presentation, music-placement, over-the-top, crazy, much improved PC version, DX11-support, etc etc).

Hell, I should've bought Blood Dragon at $6.24. Wasn't sure if I'd get to it or not before it drops in price given the insane backlog I already have, though.

Also, RIP Steam trading cards. Everything that dropped for me today is getting $0.17 due to some brilliant people saying "oh well I could get 50 cents for this, but I'd rather sell it fast for 25 cents." This is why you don't let teenagers run a business.

Hey, look at that, someone made a sarcastic post about Magicka's sale frequency! I've been waiting all sale for this! Now my Steam thread experience will be complete.

O:)

Is this what Steam trading cards galore will have us all doing: CAG-style penny-pinching on selling and buying cards?

Actually, Wheels of Fury is pretty fun. You get the fastest A-class car in the game that is tricked out like a Bond car by the time you complete the missions. It makes winning the A car races a snap too.

The Zodiac Tournament is great. It had an "Enter the Dragon" vibe but the story diverged quite far from that source. The last mission is a little bit of a pain but it's fun.

Year of the Snake and Nightmare in North Point are weird, especially if you play them after finishing all of the other DLCs, like I did. YotS is an intriguing story about a doomsday cult but everything feels a bit gimped because you have only one outfit and a couple of vehicles. Nightmare in North Point is a neat twist on the "what-the-hell-let's-put-zombies-in-everything" trend but the final boss fight is so aggravating that it prompted me to quit SD for good.

I'm fairly new to steam and have a lot of games that I plan on buying if the price is right,So my 2 questions are....Is Magicka a good single player game or will I need to play with friends to really enjoy it? And do you guys think Magicka will be cheaper in the coming weeks?

Sorry, too easy...

i really hate the steam community.
yeah i was hoping for a shogun 2 sale(that is what i voted for, but to be honest, $7.50 is still too much for a total war game).

I have never even heard of any of these, what people want to win this round of voting?

edit, voted for reus, but really all 3 of these look like they will be humble bundle fodder at some point...

You have voted 4 times and earned 1 Summer Getaway Trading Card by voting. Vote 2 more times to earn another Summer Getaway Trading Card.
For more details on the Summer Getaway Trading Cards, read the Summer Getaway FAQ.

If the Magicka going on sale jokes haven't made it clear, there is really no rush to buy it now. It never gets cheaper than this outside of bundles, but it drops to -75% almost every week (really $2.49 ought to just be MSRP at this point). Can't comment on if it is fun single player, but most people seem to agree it is only worth playing with some friends.
