This thread has been replaced by TSDT v11

Daily Deal:
Please check the Steam homepage.

Weeklong Deals:
Steam usually has week-long deals that change on Mondays at 6PM UTC. They mostly feature indie games, and may not run every week.

Sale summary lists:

Key:
⤷ indicates DLC, — specifies part of a pack, + shows alternative versions, ⚠ highlights things worth knowing, ♫ is obvious, and ... denotes a multi-pack.

Holiday Sale 2013 | 19/12/13 through 3/1/14:
Days 1-3, 4-6, 7-9, 10-12, 13-14.

Spring/Autumn Sale 2013 | 27/11/13 through 3/12/13:
All days.

Steam deals on other stores: (Related threads on CAG.)

Indie* bundle threads: (*Not always indie, nor always a bundle.)

Free stuff:
There are quite a few free games (mostly Free to Play) and mods available via the Steam platform, a comprehensive list of which can be found in this thread on the SPUF.
(NOTE: free games are not permanently attached to your Steam account like actual purchases would be. You'll need to manually download a game again from the website if you uninstall it.)

No sympathy! You won a championship 5 years ago.

Try being a Seattle sports fan. Last championship was a WNBA championship, before that 1979. The team that was stolen.
Troof. I feel your pain.

Part of the joke tho is that Philadelphians are notorious for being pissed off and negative.

Cross your fingers for dem Seahawks yo.

Not tryin to be a dick, but do you root for the Okc Thunder, or are you kind of hateful of basketball?

Through crack detective work (read: a forum search) I've determined that Parallacks is indef.

That'll be $100/day plus expenses.
Well worth it.

WELL THANKS FOR RUINING THE MYSTERY, YOU JERK.

I was late to that whole "use same name for all accounts" bandwagon.
You're dead.

thank god I've never added you ;)
oops, just double checked and you're on my friends list, guess i'll pass on the humble weekly then

MyD = short for MysterD = Myster-Derick.

Derick = my name.

There. Now you know.
You named your junk? Well I guess some people go for that kind of thing...

GOLLY GEEEEE A Walk in the Dark keeps kicking my ass. I think there's a small delay between my controller and the cat. Damn cat. Now I gotta jump and duck and jump really fast. This is getting meat boy bad.
Yeah, the controls really aren't as tight as they should be. Compared to Super Meat Boy it's like jumping through a swamp with your feet stuck together. Not sure how I managed to beat it, but even as someone who loves platformers I'd be hard pressed to recommend AWITD over all the other punishment platformers available (I'm playing Electronic Super Joy now, and it's much much better).

You need to take some optimism lessons
So I'm not the only one thinking this.

dat epic quest score tortures my soul everytime i boot that game up
You want torture? Toss your name into one of the multiple FX2 steam groups. Top Epic Quest score I gotta look at is over 3 billion. Some of those people are insane.

fwiw, I actually think the community leaderboards are pretty well designed. I'm not really a competitive person, but when that little notification pops up saying I only need another 300K to bump up a spot, I tend to get overly excited, which usually leads to me completely whiffing it down the drain.

That Skyrim deal is decent, but I'm going to see if I can grab a copy of the Elder Scrolls Anthology for $30 on BF. I've already got Morrowind on disc and Oblivion and Skyrim on PS3 but wouldn't mind Steam keys for all three now that I have a computer I can play them pretty decently on.

Well, you can't say Spoder didn't warn you. I am fighting the urge to redeem this key because I love cats but I hate hard-as-f$ck platformers.
1. Spoder's taste in games suck.

2. I wanted to like the game since I loved Limbo.

I might try that next then. The controls are looser than... well... I won't go there.

I have Morrowind/Oblivion/Skyrim (so all the ES games I'll actually play) but I still want that anthology for collector purposes.

Dose mapz...so beautiful.

Electronic Super Joy is harder. If he doesn't want a hard game, that's definitely not the one to recommend lol. The controls are better in it though.

I could see myself slogging through the cat game if the controls felt tighter. I've tried controller and keyboard and mouse and the looseness or delay makes certain parts near impossible.

Yeah I mentioned that in my review ;)

Some people do have issues with delay in controls in Electronic Super Joy, but I'm pretty sure it's nowhere as bad as AWITD. Detruire was complaining about it to me recently.

Thanks that's pretty accurate. I am stuck at a cave level that requires 5 or 6 jumps immediately after each other and the only times I've gotten through it was when I hit the button once too much and died on spikes. AHHHHHH!

Also, I heard they had a whole story and nixed it for budget reasons, but you can read up on the story if you are so inclined.

Also, your taste in games suck.

I finished ESJ a few days ago and it's definitely harder than what I've played of A Walk in the Dark. Great soundtrack and surprisingly varied level design for the kind of game it is. I really enjoyed it, though everyone else I know apparently gave up on the "Slowdance" level halfway through the first world (You know who you are).

I'm partway through world 3 right now, and will contend that the soundtrack is freaking dope (the only real way to describe it)

Just wanted to mention that I'm having a lot of fun with Hotline Miami after buying it in the sale a week or two ago. Really addictive. Just one more try.

Took a look at some gameplay footage, since I love me some sports games, but was thoroughly underwhelmed. Appreciate the confirmation. Out of curiosity, IS there a decent cricket game?
Brian Lara International Cricket 2005 is probably the most complete cricket game I've played.

It's eight years old and superior in nearly every way to Ashes Cricket 2013. I'll do a full review of AC13 tonight, but it's just a cash-grab. Not much else. It plays like it was developed ten years ago.

Nothing in the Amazon sale looks all that great to me.  Not too many 75% off things.  I'll probably pick up the Walking Dead DLC for a $5 voucher, and maybe another game or two, but we'll see.

Also, it sounds like when I get home today and can boot up Pinball for a bit before leaving for the weekend I'm going to take a blow to my manhood.  Should I be wearing a cup just to be safe?

Ugh, GfWL?!? Has anyone heard if it is being removed eventually?
Why would you buy Dark Souls 2 if you could have Dark Souls without GFWL? It's a selling point.

"Hai, you can buy Dark Souls 2 and get a version with functional multiplayer!" See, it rolls off the fingers.

I don't hate mysterd

I'm just trying to determine if he's a robot

The question is not IF he's a robot. The question is if he's a robot sent back through time to alter the timeline, one deal at a time. I suspect his ideal means of influence involves ensnaring gamers in The Secret World that normally wouldn't have.

This will have a ripple effect on the Day of Darkening when The Secret World is shut down. It will destroy key figures from CAG who would have saved humanity in the war against the (Steam) machines.

If the new game plays like it was developed 10 years ago, but you like the older game that was developed 8 years ago, then the new game is really only 2 years in game design behind the one you like, right? My head hurts....

Serious question here:

I've heard some cricket games last for days.

Does this ever happen in the video game? What do you do if you get in a super long game?

When will we be delivered from this blight of cheap, cash-grab cricket simulators endlessly plaguing our lands?
Whenever Codemasters decide that it's worth doing a decent job of one. Given that you're basically appealing to Aussies, Kiwis, Sith Ifricans and Englishmen I don't think it's a big enough market for them to be worrying about.

As and when every fourth Indian household has a PS4/Xbone/PC, we may see another release.

My head hurt after playing it.

The point I was trying to make is that it feels terribly dated and backward. Animations are all over the place. AI is moronic and incomplete. Players look like Nintendo Miis. If I had the game 10 years ago I would've played it because I didn't know any better, but I'd probably get bored pretty quickly. It's just rubbish.

A Test match lasts up to five days. So, feasibly, yes you could play for 5 days if you really wanted. However, cricket has a lot of standing around and playing for time and just general faffing about. For every minute of action, you might only get a few seconds of anything happening. It's not dissimilar to NFL in that regard.

As for how it pans out in a computer game, I've only ever played a full test match a handful of times and it took 3-4 hours in total (with breaks).

There are shorter versions of cricket (one day matches, and the super-short Twenty20 game) which transfer much better to computer games. I mostly play those.

Also, the Brian Lara games had scenarios (not unlike Civilization V) where you had to win from an historical (and often improbable) position. Unsurprisingly they didn't bother with these for Ashes Cricket 2013.

p.s. It is at least better than World Cricket Revolution. In the same way that Bad Rats is better than scurvy.
