Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.
I don't know about that, but I'm two for two now on price adjusting. My first time the cashier explicitly told me that they don't price adjust so she just returned the item and I purchased it again on the spot.

This time I told the guy that I had asked another Target store whether the game was the same price at the other Targets in the area (after doing a DCPI check) and they told me it was- which really did happen. The guy did an actual price adjust on the original receipt.
Yeah, well I tried to do this with a Zelda CE the other day and they wouldn't adjust and they wouldn't return/rebuy. They said it had to go in the back to be retagged and then put back out. I noticed it there a few days later (but I had already got 1 cheaper at another store). It would have been easier for the store I returned at to have just done the damn return/rebuy than going through all the trouble of retagging it and putting it back out. But whatever, man... Hopefully it sits there till another price drop and they lose even more money.

in okc at quail springs and nw expressway picked up

gunpey DS 7.48
killer 7 GC 3.74
burnout legends PSP 4.98
namco arcade classics PSP 4.98
luigi's mansion GC 4.98
sonic gems GC 4.98

Looking for NBA 06 PSP or Battalion wars.

I can get Wipeout Pure, and Fire Emblem Sacred Stones from my target to trade. I also have Mario Golf GBA to trade.

Noticed a few different clearance games yesterday. Not necessarily good games, but clearance games.

Backyard Football (PS2) $7.48
Genji (PS2) $7.48
Dead II Rights 2 (Xbox) $12.48
The Con (PSP) $9.98
Gretzky NHL 06 (PSP) $7.48

Zelda Swords and Tony Hawk decks were still holding strong at $19.98 and $44.98 each despite everything else dropping. They had stacks of the TH decks, so hopefully they stick around for a drop soon.

FYI, the 6 iPod hi-fis that I saw between two Targets (Homestead, PA and Monroeville, PA) all sold after they went to 50% off last Monday.

Also, the Waterfront Target has a bunch of those Tony Hawk skateboards for $22 something, both xbox and PS2 versions.
Has anyone seen a ipod hifi in the maryland area? The stores closest to me sold them all but I did find gunpey.
On Saturday I saw at least one at the Towson and White Marsh stores. (@ $179)

:gba: - Golden Nugget Casino $4.9x
:ps2: - Capcom Classics Collection Vol. 2 $9.9x (shelf price, I may have to go back for this one)
:gc: - GC power supply $7.46

They don't want to sell it to you at that price. They would rather an employee buy it.
:ds:
Viewtiful Joe now $4.98
At that price, I'd pick up Viewtiful Joe DS.

Too bad none of the local Targets have that game.

I don't ever remember it as in-stock, either.

I picked up:

One Piece: Pirate's Carnival GC $4.98
Gunpey DS $7.48
The new Madonna cd/dvd for $16 :)

Saw but didn't get:

NBA Live 06 PS2 $7.48
Neopets PS2 $9.98

Finally found a copy of Battalion Wars for $3.74 at the Parma, OH Target.

They also had many many copies of RE4 for $9.98, True Crime: New York City for $4.98 and Killer 7 for $4.98. Nothing for the DS and only a handful of GBA games like Kids Next Door: S.O.D.A. for $4.98.

Got an X-Men Legends II for $4.98.

This has to stop. Luckily my Targets are all pretty much cleaned out so I have no choice in the matter.

Got:
Burnout Revenge xbox 4.98
Star Wars: EP III ROTS PH xbox 4.98

Saw:
Day of Reckoning 2 gc 4.98
True Crime NYC xbox 4.98
Metriod Prime 2 Echoes gc 4.98
Battalion Wars gc 3.74
and some others that have already been mentioned

Went to the Target on 38th St. in Indianapolis. Pretty much everything is gone. Picked up the last We Love Katamari and Killer 7. Last copy of Gunpey and all the other clearance games I saw last week were gone...probably a dealer as there were multiple copies of stuff like Batallion Wars that had been there forever. They still had Tony Hawk but it scans at $40-something still, although they have it marked at full retail so it probably isn't going anywhere.

Bought some 50% off fishing gear. I wish I knew when sporting goods clearance drops are. I've been watching camping gear and sporting goods 50% off stuff for 2 weeks now, going to Target every few days, and everything is still at 50%. When it hits 75%, there's like $300 worth of stuff I'd buy. $200 tent for $50 would be nice, not to mention a few $30 fishing poles for $7.50 each, and a $200 foosball table for $50. Maybe a $60 dart board for $15.

Killer 7 I believe. But, the last We Love Katamari? The 38th Street store hasn't had that game in weeks. And, yes, I work there and we all check for hidden games in every aisle, especially neighboring areas. I call your bluff.

I managed to pick up the Tony Hawk game/deck bundle only after searching or calling several Target stores across the San Fernando Valley. Someone had apparently been going to Targets all across the area and buying every single unit along with all the Zelda sword/shield gift sets. My friend and I were always one step behind him yesterday...

I'd call some Targets to check stock only to have surprised employees telling me that all the Tony Hawk and Zelda items were gone from the shelves even though they just saw dozens a couple hours before. I was just at one of these stores two days ago and they literally had 12 Zelda gift sets and 14 Tony Hawk bundles!

Every store had the same story about some guy clearing them out. I hate these hoarders in the Valley! If I ever find out who that one guy is, I'm kicking his ass. Now I'm SOL on the Zelda gift set...

I wouldn't be surprised if the "disappearing clearance stuff" was just being sent to salvage. I went into my Target yesterday and found a few clearance games (very rare for my store) but all the TH skateboards and Zelda Shields were gone. I mentioned to a Target employee that was tagging some stuff in electronics that it looked like all the skateboards were gone. She said that they had all went to salvage cause no one was buying them.

Yeah, I had figured on the salvage situation, but I was actually being told by Target employees that I was one step behind this hoarder so he's definitely not a figment of my imagination.

might not have enough interest...but I started a Target trading thread...it's on the first page but sinking fast...:hot:

My friend just called me: he was at one of the Targets that previously said over the phone that they were completely OOS on the skateboards and sword/shield sets. Well, they weren't. They still had tons of each item. I've got my Zelda gift set now!

Bah, 2 of the 4 Targets by me had a lot of crap. Tak, Killzone, The NFL Backyard football game, etc.

I liked this site a lot better when less people knew about it.

Yes, because it HAD to be people from this site who cleaned out those games.

I think it's more because Target stores are correctly tagging clearance items now. 3 - 5 years ago, you could walk into Target with a clearance list and most items would still be on the shelf or in the case tagged at full price but when scanned they would ring up at the clearance price. Now everything seems to be correctly tagged so employees and other customers know about the deals when they see them.

I agree, everything except Gunpey DS, which I have seen at 3 diff Targets unmarked and sitting in the cases, has been marked with the red clearance stickers properly at all the stores I have been to this past week.

my Target has many, many copies of the TOny Hawk game w/skatboard [mostly PS2 copies], why would someone buy 'em all at one stop? Re-sell?

Also, how much are the Zelda CD w/sword + shield thingys these days? $10.00 yet?
Also, how much are the Zelda CD w/sword + shield thingys these days? $10.00 yet?
Depends on your stores. Either $10.xx or $19.98.

Yes, they are $10, and the people that buy up entire stock are probably just gonna sell them.

If anyone is still looking for Zelda Gift Boxes or Tony Hawk boards, I may be able to help. I picked up a couple extra Zelda boxes (there's still a bunch left at the store...but I refuse to say which one - damn hoarders), and there are still TONS of Tony Hawk decks I saw (I didn't buy any though).
YMMV - they are still $19.98 at all the stores I checked (with price scanner - most don't even have them any more). I'm going to try a few more tonight.

There were two at my local store for $20.. was going to buy one (i'd like to wind up with two, one for myself and one for a friend), but sadly, there were none left. *sigh*

(referring to the zelda sword/shield)
Tagged! How much are the Tony Hawk Decks BTW?
$44.98 everywhere I looked (just the last 2 days). But some people are finding them for half of that.

The ones with boards are only PS2 and Xbox, correct? (And not Xbox 360). $22 isn't even worth it for me for
the regular versions - *maybe* the 360 version, though even that's pushing it ;). I have absolutely no use for
the board, so that's why I suppose.

I liked this site a lot better when less people knew about it.
Yes, because it HAD to be people from this site who cleaned out those games.
To be fair, I know what ZL was saying. There are a lot of FWers and SDers who also use this site for keeping on top of price drops/clearances to then clear out shelves without ever contributing to CAG or doing trades with CAGs or leaving a few behind for anyone.

Naturally if Joe Average Who Knows Nothing About Sites Like This stumbles upon some killer clearances at the store, they're gonna pick up a copy or two for himself/kid/family/neighbor/friend/you get the idea, but Joe Average doesn't clear the stores out.

On a related note, I've noticed that ebay is flooded wif the Project 8 game/deck. For every three listed, about one will sell. Take that meanies.

I'll pick up stuff that I know I can eBay, but I'll never take the last one if that's my objective.

But I'm waiting for a cheapy 360 version and have no need for the deck (especially considering that it's deck only- no wheels, iirc). Plus the TH games always drop pretty quickly anyway, so I'd just be spending money for no real reason.
Two things:

207 00 0591 Xbox Live Starter Kit

Not sure if it's been mentioned in the thread, but you can use the vertical keypad on Target's price scanners to look up items by their DCPI number so instead of printing out UPCs you can just write down the numbers. Only bad thing is that the keypads are disabled or broken on some of the scanners I've come across for some reason.
What's the price on the Starter Kit? And what's a DCPI number?
Longtime leecher but a first time poster.

Most notable was a single copy of Final Fantasy for GBA for $10 I believe.
Welcome from out of the shadows, Jeeper.

And which FF is this? Has Dawn of Souls dropped finally? I ebayed mine (II really annoyed me) but for a good price I'd rebuy and just keep sealed. Ditto for IV.
Target #4 had a bunch of One Piece just 2 days ago - they were all gone today. I find it surprising there is so much interest in that game.
One Piece is a terrific manga and great anime (you dub haters, don't start wif me, it's a FUN show!) which has gotten a lot of aire time on Cartoon Network... and I believe this Saturday toonami is finally putting new episodes into the block. Yeah for One Piece lourve!! Finally a show with female characters who aren't idiotic, butch, can't take care of themselves, or any other negative stereotype.
Target does price adjustments now? Since when?

And on a clearance item? Go you.
I only just learned the other day that they do NOT price-adjust clearance. Never tried it before, but I assumed like everywhere else if you buy sumpin' and it gets marked down, with your receipt you're good.

I was in my local Target the other day and my Mum was debating purchasing someting. I said to go for it, and if it drops more, just have them price match it. One of the clerks who I always have fun joking around with tells us that Target doesn't do that. So I asked CS desk on the way out to make sure... I have since asked at three different Targets, and all have confirmed that the only way I could price adjust a clearance item would be to return it, and then if I find it on the shelf for the lower price, to buy it. They don't even allow return/immediate rebuys.

From a bidness stand point, I can understand. But from a customer service sense I think that's screwy.

If you think that's bad, their return policy on seasonal is worse but understandable. If you buy a seasonal item at 50% off and you want to return it the next day and it's 75% off, you only get the 75% off price back even witha receipt showing the 50% off price was paid

I saw 4 PS2 Tony Hawk decks at $22.xx, but all 4 were opened. Upon closer inspection, all 4 were missing the game! I wasnt too happy.

Does the skateboard come with any wheels? Cause if so, those were missing too

And didn't see this was mentioned, but Oddworld Strangers Wrath was $14.98 (50%)

Dave

My target removed the zelda at 20, and the THP8 at 44, I want to ask my manager see where it goes (someone in this thread said goodwill) I want a skateboard at 22. Have alot of software on sale, and lots of the not so good $10 games(still 30%)

I couldn't stand it, so I returned the Gunpey DS I bought last week for $14.98 and bought another off the shelf for $7.48 (or however many cents it was). Thanks for the heads-up.
Ive seen the same but its a childs 15 in 1, and now 75 off for about 30. I got the foosball original 180, now 45.
I picked up one of those 12 in 1 tables for $30 last year but it was a kids size table. I still haven't put it together but I wanted a cheap foosball table.

At one of the Targets I was inquiring at, I saw a sign like that in the CS area, and only glanced at it. I read the policy you described and I thought to myself, "I'm reading that wrong... they must mean withOUT a receipt." Guess I read it right. Bizarre.
I couldn't stand it, so I returned the Gunpey DS I bought last week for $14.98 and bought another off the shelf for $7.48 (or however many cents it was). I picked it up and returned the 14.98 game to the original store.
Does the skateboard come with any wheels? Cause if so, those were missing too
The package does not come with wheels. There's a list on the back of the box that says what's included inside. It's basically the game, the deck, and a wall mount.

I think I found a few that haven't been mentioned yet:

:gc:
Madden 06: $7.48

:ps2:
NHL 06: $7.48
Gretzky NHL 06: $7.48
Eye Toy Play 2 w/camera: $12.48 (think this was mentioned, but worth repeating anyway)

I also found Wipeout Pure and Frantix for PSP for $4.98. All of these were correctly tagged. I was really surprised the $4.98 games were still there - except they were kind of in a wierd place so maybe no one saw them.

I keep buying Madden when I see it this cheap (2004, 2005, etc), and I keep not playing them. I should learn my lesson I suppose...

I snagged some of these because this particular Target was so far and I wouldn't want to go back there again any time soon. If anyone wants the following for $12.50 shipped let me know: Genji, Gunpey, Gretzky NHL 06, EA NHL 06, Untold Legends, Metal Gear Acid. $10 shipped for these: Wipeout Pure, Frantix. Willing to combine - just send a PM.

Just out of curiousity, where do you guys find the majority of these games? I usually find them on random clearance endcaps, rarely do I see any in the cases.
