Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.
I picked up the new Pro Evolution 2007 for the 360 for $12.48 at the East Madison Target in Madison, WI tonight. I was pretty surprised by that, seeing as how the game is less than a month old.
is Medievel for the PSP for $7.98 a good deal?
If you can't get it for $3 at Kmart, and you are buying it to play the game (and not to trade/sell) then it's definitly worth it..Medievel is a fun game. If you're not convinced that it's an $8 game you could always hide it in the least trafficed area of the store and hope its still there in a few months when the price drops again

How in the world did that happen? Care to explain? What does your receipt read? Give us a scan.

They should be holding wiis for sundays ad.

Never heard of ASIN, but target uses a DPCI number, usually 111 11 1111 (9digits, in that fashion)

Never heard of ASIN,
HOW TO FIND ASIN # for the locator site

1) Go to target.com

2) search for the item you're looking for

3) If the item is available online, click on the 'Additional info' tab to find the ASIN #. It should be a 10 character series starting with capital B.

4) C&P that ASIN # into the http://crayz.org/target_wii.php?zip=XXXXX&asin=ZZZZZ address in place of the ZZZZs after asin.

5) Enjoy the info!!

You know, after I did the search and then went to one of the Targets last night that supposedly had them (of course they didn't) I figured this must be the case. I guess we can expect them in the Sunday ad. No biggie to me, I've had one since launch - I was just trying to figure out this stock locator thing. It will be very nice to use for clearance games (as soon as they add some more - we seem to be in a dead spot again).

One thing I expect to see on clearance soon - the 3-month Xbox-live kits. Like the 12-month ones they did clear out, those expire in June.

I like how when I go to Target or CC and see the signs that say the Wii is temporarily sold out. HA! Temporary my ASS! They have been sold out for 3+ months now with no end in sight yet. I've had one since launch, (thank you Amazon) and that is how I will get all my new systems (online). No more B&M for me on systems, not worth the 3-7 day wait in line at launch.

I hear ya. It took me until January to track down a Wii system. I tried to preorder at several placed but got fucked over by both Gamerush and Gamestop. I never counted on GR to get them but Gamestop's handling of preorders was a joke!

(Sorry that was my off topic rant for the day. We now return you to your regularly scheduled thread...)

in my local store i saw a few PC games on clearance:

Civilization IV: Warlords - $15
Condemned - $20
The Guild 2 - $15

and a few other kids games. this may be a YMMV, but worth a check!

Few Wii games got marked down at my store today. 30% so far.
World Series of Poker
Ant Bully
Barnyard
Monster 4x4 with steering wheel

Believe there were two other ones, shitty games though.

DS games getting marked down today included:
Metroid Prime Pinball
Sims 2
Soduko Gridmaster

I'd like to know what the two other "shitty" Wii games were. I don't think there's anything much worse than the ones you listed, so they might actually be things I want. I am looking for the kids licenced games unlike most CAG's (have 3 kids). So I'd be interested to know. I will get Ant Bully and Barnyard if they ever make it to 75% off.

Looking at Metacritic, the truly "shitty" Wii games are: Open Season, Rampage: Total Destruction, Happy Feet, Ant Bully, Rapala Tournament Fishing!, GT Pro Series, and last but not least, Far Cry Vengeance. These all scored an average of below 50. But then I don't necessarily trust reviews because Wii Play has a 58, making it the 28th worst out of 37 titles and I think it is great... Still, maybe I'll skip Ant Bully even at 75% off. Barnyard scored much better, so I'll definitely snag that (I almost ordered it with the Amazon glitch for $20 last night).

I remember one being the Grim Adventures of Grim and Mandy, the other may have been the Chicken Little one.

My store is a few days ahead of doing their clearance, so these price cuts should effect other stores starting on Monday.

The Chicken Little Ace in Action game? THAT is actually supposed to be pretty good, and I believe it started off at $39.99 MSRP. That will be a nice $10 purchase in a few/several weeks ;).

I traded for that game but haven't had a chance to play it. The reviews are actually pretty good though.

I did play the Barnyard game (free rental from Blockbuster) and it was kind of similar to Animal Crossing once you got into it.

I have a feeling clearanced out Wii games won't make it to 75% off, at least not around here. Most stores seem to barely keep even the crappy games in stock at full price.

Anyone else confirm this? So far this looks like this person just got lucky...

Why yes, I do!
I found Viewtiful Joe double trouble but it rang up $14.99
Per io's earlier post and my most recent trip to Target it looks like they cleared out the old stock of Viewtiful Joe and got some newer stock of this "discount" title. VJ was one of about 10 titles at my store advertised on an endcap by the registers selling for either $14.99 or $19.99. When I picked up my copy of VJ it was one of the last two my store had. A couple days later I found another copy w/o the red clearance sticker and that one rang up $14.99.

BTW. I'm out of town this weekend so I brought my DS along for the trip. I started playing the copy of Advance Wars DS I snagged on clearance. That has to be the best $5 I've spent in a long time. That game kicks ass!

Don't know if anyone has seen this item, but it seems to be a Target in-store exclusive, atleast in my area (MA). Well, the reason I'm posting is, I just picked up 2 of these gorgeous Zelda themed Sling packs for transporting a Wii system et al. I'm not quite sure, but it might even be able to hold a laptop computer of small to medium size.

They're on clearance at Target for $10

Get 'em while you can!

Yes, quite. Well worth the 20 or so bucks I spent close to launch back in '05. Good (portable) times.

I've seen two of these at my Target. I tried to pick one up for a fellow CAGer but when I went back just a day later they were both gone.

Same. :( But I think it rang up $14.98... which would mean it might go down in clearance.

So many freaking XB360 games on clearance now, so be on the lookout in the next few weeks for further markdowns :

Tomb Raider Legend $21
Table Tennis $21
X-Men 3 $28
Prey $21
N3 $21
Hitman $28
Outfit $14
Dead or Alive Volleyball 2 $42
Battlefield 2 $21
MotoGP $28

and a few more , I think...

Super Mario 64 (DS) $21

MotoGP is starting to get clearanced at Target? Niiiiice. They didn't have any at my BB and I've been wanting that game for the longest time.

Same thing at my local Target. I'll wait for the next price drop.

Ok, this is more than likely YMMV but....

A local store had the 2005 Black Friday Target exclusive Game Boy SP package for $48.21.

The package includes:
- Metallic blue :gba: 2.0 [with brighter screen]
- Super Mario Advance 2: SMW cart
- Carrying Case
- Car Charger

The store had about a dozen of these packs. Looks like they found some boxes in the back.

FYI the DCPI # for this pack is: 207 03 0008

Good luck finding this...

Holy fuck. Would that I could go back to that Black Friday.

What are the prices on those DS games? Metroid Prime Pinball and Sudoku would be nice at the right price.

Didn't see any console games marked down today, but quite a bit of PC games were marked down. I don't remember any titles offhand ~_~;

They had lots of Super Mario 64 DS but weren't marked yet. Looks like I'll have to keep my eye on that one and hope they don't bother marking it for a week. ;)

At N Druid Hills location (ATL) today and found a NES Classics Zelda 2 sitting on a random shelf. It was labeled 7.48, but I knew it had been clearanced lower so I scanned it and it came up $0.00!!! I knew that wasn't right, but I thought I could get it at it's lowest clearanced price (like 4 bucks probably). It rang up at the register as 0, too. She was going to call electronics and price check when she saw the old clearance tag and she tried to charge me 7.48. I passed. Oh well.

By the way I was there looking unsuccessfully for a 12 month Live kit. The tracking site said it was there in limited supply (Thanks for the ASIN, io). I bought an unmarked one for 42 a few weeks back after I found one on a clearance shelf that had been opened. I figure that opened one has been put aside and is still in the system.
Same thing at my local Target. I'll wait for the next price drop.
When can we expect the next drop?

Are these games in the normal glass case or have their own special section? (Dont have the time to re-read this entire thread to find it) thanks guys

It varies with every store. Some stores have it in the case, some have it in a clearance section usually in the back. You'll just have to search your local store to find out.

i'm amazed that target would start to clearance out wii games already, especially since they can't even keep the system in stock for more than a couple of hours.

I scoped out the clearance section of my Target once again. There was nothing console related there. I saw about four wireless G routers that said something about including phone jacks for use with Vonage. There was other miscellaneous crap like iPod cases and some X-men scan game cards. I didn't pay too much attention to that stuff since I was only looking for cheap console games.

OK, since I was checking the availability of these games in my area I figured I might as well post all the ASIN's I was collecting here...

The 360 games seem to be out of stock already at most places. The Wii games seem to be more highly available. Has anyone else seen these on clearance yet though (I haven't been to Target this week yet myself so I haven't seen any of these on sale yet)?
I can confirm that the :wii: Chicken Little Ace and Racing game in the chunky box w/ foam wheel(GT Wii?) were about $35 or 30% off.

I also saw a new clearance game, :ds: Need for Speed Carbon for $21
i'm amazed that target would start to clearance out wii games already, especially since they can't even keep the system in stock for more than a couple of hours.
I thought this too, at first, but when I was at Target yesterday (nothing for Wii with a red sticker yet) I realized that they have limited space in their glass cases. As new Wii games come in, they move the ones that aren't selling as well. If all the games were selling as well as the console, they wouldn't have to, but this is obviously not the case.

Target has a bizarre economy, sometimes -- they can have a ton of stuff and clearance it all a month or two later. Apparently it works for their bottom line -- and it certainly helps mine.

Got Hitman: Blood Money (PC) $14.98 in Alton, IL. yesterday. Lots of clearance PC games, nothing for much of anything else.
