Original Target Clearance Thread

Since the Target deals are usually of the "your mileage may vary" type, let's keep all the target clearance deals in this thread.

Here is a fairly easy way to check if your local Target has the games on clearance without making the store clerk unlock the display case and price-scan a bunch of games. Very often, games may be on sale, but will not be marked as such.

BigDirty came up with this nice time saver. Respect his cheap ass skills.

1) Check this thread for games that have been reported on clearance.

2) Go to www.half.com, http://bits.com/ or similar website and search for the game to locate its UPC code number. Its in the grey box underneath the box art graphic.

3) Go to http://upcdata.info/ , www.milk.com/barcode/ , or www.upcdatabase.com and enter the code so you can print out the UPC.

4) Go to Target and use the price scanners to scan your printouts and search for cheap ass deals!

FYI: "When a game's price ends with 8 cents, further reduction is possible, when it ends in 4 cents, that's the ball game, pick it up cause it's not going any lower. If it ends in 9 cents, it's just on sale or on a non-clearance reduction." - BigDirty

Games that do not sell after being discounted are often donated to local Goodwills for sale at their retail stores, so check there when the clearance items dissappear.

This thread is for Clearance deals, not sale items or raincheck "scams"
Please Post City, State and Store (If City has many stores), game, system and price

Keep extraneous discussion to a minimum, as posts not pretating to clearance deals may be deleted by the mod crew.

As always-- YMMV

Example:

Philadelphia, PA Snyder Plaza
BigDirty's Wild Ride, XBox, $4.98

*Thanks to CheapyD and BigDirty for the info*

Keep it on topic or your post may be deleted to prune down the thread size.

Remember guys, just because the games at your store don't have clearance tags yet, doesn't mean they won't ring up on clearance. I've found plenty of clearance games at Target that were still marked at full price but rang up lower. That's the best way to find them actually, as no one else knows they're on clearance.

Scan them every Monday once they've been reported as clearanced in this thread and they should eventually hit 75% off if they don't sell first.

The website's interface is set up for the Wii, but by changing the ASIN you are able to search for any item.
No matter what asin number I enter (using io's list just to try out this feature) it shows Wiis @ Target, none in stock blah blah blah. Is the Wii thing going to show up regardless of the ASIN item number? Or am I doing something wrong?
BTW: If a dollar is a breaking point for buying or not buying a game, maybe you should focus on more important things such as bills, food, and gas. If you're that poor, my advice would be to lay low on video games for awhile.
Every penny counts, friend. And sometimes it's because a person IS good at managing their funds and paying their bills that they will wait for a game to drop below $X and only below $X. Constantly making exceptions (ie, "oh, it's only a few bucks over what I should pay for it") is a good way to ruin your budget.

:applause:. Yep, exactly. I'm holding firm on these "lesser" 360 games in that I will not pay more than $15-$16 for them. I picked up a few like Kameo and Gun for $16 at Fred Meyer. I'd like to be able to replace those copies with 75% off ones from Target - but they have to go on clearance here first ;).

And Rictor - I was just at Target last night. I tried a few of the DCPI numbers on the floor scanners. None of the 360/Wii games are on clearance here yet. That is strange as usually they all have the same things (just exact prices vary). Only clearance games are that Danny Phantom DS game and NFS Carbon for the DS.
That's the ONLY console/handheld game that's been clearanced out at my Target. They've got plenty of Doom 3's for PC, though... :(
Danny Phantom?! I've got to check out my Target! Despite it being a licensed game, I heard that it was a pretty darn good horizontal schmup game.

Every penny sure does count. Its relative, a dollar on a $75 dollar game isnt going to change much, but the same amount on a game that has dropped to $10 or less becomes a reasonable percentage of the games price. I know I buy far too many games for my own good, so if I can save even $1 on all of the cheaper ones, that definitely keeps some money in my bank account.

Yes, it should still be about Wiis, that's what the site was designed for. In the upper left corner, it should have the ASIN number as a clickable link, when you click it, it should take you to the product page of the item you are looking for.

My Target (found these without reading the thread, go figure) had the following:

XBox 360
Blitz: The League $20.98
Chromehounds $20.98
Dead Or Alive 4 $27.98
DOA Extreme Beach Volley Ball (41something)
Hitman: Blood Money $27.98
Kameo: Elements of Power $20.98
Moto GP 06 $27.98
Ninety-Nine Nights $20.98
Table Tennis $20.98
Tomb Raider: Legend $20.98
Pimp My Ride $27.98
XBox Live Arcade Unplugged, Volume 1 $27.98
X-Men III: The Official Game $20.98

DS
Danny Phantom $13.98 (picked it up, scroller + Ds = FUN!)

Wii
Chicken Little $27.98

Picked up pretty much everything, since it'll probably be the lowest I see many of those games at as Best Buy and Circuit City are cleaned of ALL of those and I can't imagine seeing them at a clearence there. Kameo at $20 new is a steal, so I jumped (non-Platinum Hits versions as well). I picked up X-Men before for about $2 less, so I passed on more copies.

Completely passed on Pimp My Ride, Tomb Raider, Hitman, and I already have Table Tennis (got it for like $14 months ago at TRU)... if Tomb/Pimp drop I may pick them up later.

Who doesn't want a Wii game for $27? So Chicken Little came home with me too. I really wish mine had BURNOUT though. :whistle2:(

There were copies of most EVERYTHING left if a fellow CAGer needs something.

^ Ditto one TARGET Had virtually all those games marked as such. One other did not. With exception to a few more Wii games in the 36 dollar mark. Splinter cell , Barnyard, Open Season, Avatar, Spongebob. My wife called to let me know. She got me MotoGP.

Damn I should go out to target.

Before I was putting the ASIN number and replaing the "=" as well as the XXXXX in the fields. Just tried Kameo (which I know a local Target has) and it shows up, "limited availability."

Muchas gracias, zewone. This utility is sweet.

Just hit the Saugus, MA target.

Viewtiful Joe: DS - $5 (named my own price)

VJ: DS was out of the system, so the cashier asked me "how much do you think it should be?" Nice guy, but YMMV on getting that sort of treatment. I was surprised to even find it in stock.

I found a couple of PC games clearanced at the Port Charlotte, FL Target.

Warcraft III Frozen Throne $10 at 50% off
Civilization IV Warlords $20 at 30% off

There was only one copy of each game left.

Stopped at a Target tonight.

Saw the Danny Phantom DS for $13.98 and the Chicken Little Wii for $27.98.

Also saw Monster Truck 4x4 Wii for $38.98 (or perhaps $34.98)...

That was it.

What was ridiculous was this:

Every one of the titles that were clearanced, as identified in this thread were GONE!

They were there yesterday. They weren't on any end cap (I checked) and they weren't anywhere to be found.

They were all just friggin' gone!

Disappointing...

Also found 5 Viewtiful Joe DS games - "item not found" is how they scanned. They would only sell them to me at the last available sales price - $14.99. Bummer!

I have a feeling a lot of these clearanced 360 and Wii games are going to go at or before they hit 50% off. I don't usually pay more than the 50% off price for Target clearance games, but I am seriously considering doing it for a few of these titles.

Saw 4 or 5 copies of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for the PC at $24.98... I think once this dips under $20 I'll snatch it up.

Struck out again. Found a lone copy of VJ for DS but it rang up at $14.99. How come so many people have reported it as $4.98? :(

It WAS clearanced out at $4.98 but then Target got new stock of it, apparently for their budget videogame displays, and that new stock now rings up at $14.99.

Has anyone seen any Zune accessories on clearance? I heard from another forum they had seen some of the AV Packs (normally $99.99)

same here. I got my hopes up when it came up "item not found" but they told me $14.99 as well. they had a display of GBA/DS games for that price. Only other one I remember was Rayman on the DS.

I just found a handful of varioius hockey games for $5 and under at my local Target. I got Gretzky 06, could have been 07, for PSP for $5.04. Got $6.25 for it at Game Crazy.

They also had a PS2 Gretzky and PS2 EA Hockey 2006.

So you bought it and sold it for a profit of $1.21 (not sure if you're including tax or not)? No offense, but that hardly seems worth the trouble. Why not just leave it for people who might enjoy finding a cheap game?

I was traveling in Bloomington Normal (IL) and found a bunch of the Xbox 360/Wii games mentioned here on clearance. Still way too expensive for me to consider getting most of them, although I recall Table Tennis was $20.98, which seemed like a decent deal. They had 4 copies of Viewtiful Joe for DS which were ringing up for $4.98, so I picked up 2. If anyone needs one, I'd be interested in trading for it.

Except that at my Target they THEN put the new $14.99 stock on clearance more recently and it was $7.48 last time I was in there. I'm hoping for $3.24 next week ;).

Still no Wii or 360 games on clearance at my store :whistle2:s.

Well, maybe he signed up for the Target Red Card saving 10% or held the cashier at gun point, thus putting the profit at either 1.75 or so, or 6.25.
I found two clearance items in the assemble-it-yourself furniture section at my nearest Super Target. However, I can't find any reference to these items anywhere online - I might have to go back and jot down some more information as to who makes them if anyone is interested.

Xbox 360 Pylon - It's a sort of tower that houses the 360 near the bottom in a vertical configuration. It has 4 controller brackets going up the center from there, and holds games horizontally along both sides. The clearance price was just shy of $50, and I think it was at 30% off.

Xbox 360 TV Stand - It's a rectangle with rounded corners and shelves. The shelves are supposedly properly spaced to handle the console and games/accessories. It is large enough to handle a decent sized flat panel on top, according to the picture on the box. The price was in the $70 neighborhood if I remember correctly.

I personally don't have a use for these, but they look neat (especially the Pylon). They are officially licensed 360 accessories, and color coordinate as such. The boxes are fairly large, but would probably fit in a standard shopping cart.

I never saw these at the regular price, so I don't know where they came from or if they are readily available in other stores.
I picked up a Pylon in Apex,N.C. (last one). Wierd though it was in a box on monday and came up 48.98 and found it in a different spot yesterday out of the box still marked 48.98 but ringing up at 17.48. Looks great in the game room. the DLP#( or whatever it's called) is 249 10 0017

Any good deals come up today?? I'm going tomorrow to check out 3 or 4 stores. I'm waiting for the PC games (PREY, Doom 3, there were some RTS games I cant remember also) to drop a little lower before picking them up.

Same here... I saw:

Dark Messiah of Might and Magic
Civcity: Rome
Eragon

And some other games... Dark Messiah was 50% off, the others were 30%.

To everyone else, I've been out of the Target loop for awhile... price drops usually happen on Monday, correct?

I didn't see Dark Messiah at any of the stores in my area. I'm going to have to double check. If it drops again I will have to pick it up. Same for Civcity Rome.

Yea, the Target I was at last night had about 4 - 5 copies of each. I scanned it, hoping it would be cheaper, but no dice.

I think Civcity Rome was $20.98, as well.

Though sometimes I've seen 1 Target put a PC game on clearance when none of the other ones have... I was kinda shocked since Dark Messiah is still semi recent.

Same here I saw at one store Splinter Cell: Double Agent marked down (i think it was 30%) they had like 3 or 4 copies I'm hoping it ill drop further real soon. All the others I went to scanned full price.

I think you may have missed those Dark Messiahs. I've seen them at 2 different Targets and now they are gone. Hopefully the Targets you go to will have them.

I saw the zelda slingbag that people have been talking about the other day and did a price check- it turned up 30 dollars. Odd.

I saw abunch of 360 games here in DSM, IA

Dead Rising 41.98
Oufit 13.XX
Blitz the League 20.xx
LOTR:BFME II 20.XX
Table Tennis 20.XX
Tomb Raider Legend 20.xx
DOA 4 20.XX

Mario 64 DS 20.XX

Mine has N3 for $20.XX. I think I am going to return them and use the money for something else. I went to Target hoping to score an early copy of God of War II. No dice.

I believe you scanned the Wii Zelda Messenger bag, it's still full price. I had them confused for a moment as well.

Oh, I see. That must be it. It was actually not there when I went a week ago, so I was surprised to see something on clearance (or so I thought) reappear.

Thanks for the clarification.

HE SHOOTS HE SCORES!!!!

I had to stop by my Target on the way home from work (prescription pickup for the wife). AS usual I checked out the clearance endcap. Nothing worth a crap (I saw a copy of MLB 2K6 for PS2 for $13.98). I noticed that the DS "sale" endcap was gone from by the registers so I figured those games ended up somewhere (and were hopefully marked down even more). I spotted a copy of Viewtiful Joe and Gunpey in the electronics area. I remembered what others had posted above (VJ was ringing up $0.00) I figured I would bring them to the register and see what happens.

I went to the pharmacy checkout, got the scrips, and bingo the games rang up $0 each. The girl at the pharmacy asked the guy working back there what to do b/c it was telling her to "enter a price". He looked at me and said "Do you remember how much these were?" I told him that I had gotten them from the clearance isle and the last time I bought them they were $4.98. He looked at me and said "OK sounds good to me". SCORE!

I did see the other games from the register markdowns (King Kong, Lunar Song, etc...) but they still scanned $14.99 and $19.99.

What's the consensus on LOTR: BFME 2? Is it worth $21? I'm not much of a RTS fan, but if it's fun and cool, I might give it a shot . We also had Kameo for that price, but I figured that game is easily purchased for less used, maybe.
...the games rang up $0 each.
That happened when I rang up Metroid Prime 2. I told the sales guy that the game was in the clearance section. So, after a bit of bargaining, he agreed to give it to me for 2 bucks! I already have the game, but remember folks, "A bargain is something you can't use at a price you can't resist." - Franklin Jones

It seems Dreamfall: The Longest Journey (PC) also got "re-clearanced". I bought it months ago for $7.48, and just came across a new stack of them at Target yesterday stickered at $20.98, so I'm thinking it must be out of the system by now, but they all rang up $20.98! It's a pretty good game that's worth grabbing once it "re-drops" in clearance again.

Saw a few other PC games on clearance: Carnival Cruise Lines 2005 (PC) $4.98 and The Guild 2 (PC) $27.xx. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic (PC) has been holding strong at $27.xx for a couple of weeks now with no new drop.

If anyone finds an extra Dead or Alive 4 (360) for around $20 and wants to trade, please let me know!

Of the two Targets I've hit recently, only seen a lone copy of Kameo at $20.98, no other 360 games. Hopefully can find a Dead Rising somewhere. Neither Target had it tagged as clearance behind the glass cabinet.

Other than that, a bunch of crap PC games on clearance. Dark Messiah of Might and Magic at $27.xx. A few Dreamfalls at $20.98. And SA: Double Agent (PC), forgot the price.

Dude, ballsy move, way to go. I think I'm gonna have to try that. I was really hoping that my stores' VJ: DT would drop to 7.48 (like io's), but no dice: went straight from 14.99 to "Item not found" at the price scanners. I assume that means they'll ring up 0.00 at the registers, so I can do some persuadin'?

Wish me luck.
Picked up two copies of Dark Messiah of Might and Magic for $12.98 each if anyone wants to trade for one of them.
Nice... I have to assume this is the price they drop down to after $24.98? I'd definitely pick one up for $12.98.

I kid you not.. I can't wait for Left Behind (PC) to drop below $20.98. I just want to see how laughable the gameplay is.

I have an interest in spiritual warfare stuff, but not a fan of the LB series.

No changes at the stores I went to today. I did see a brand new Gamecube w/ super smash bros. for $49.99. Too bad I already have both. I think it might have been a return damaged box item because it said "as is" for the price.
