Would anyone believe me if I said I found this at a thrift store on Friday?

Big money, no whammy. STOP!

What's with people taking the discs? Seriously, the stupid retards take the discs but when they try to install the game on their computer oops you need a CD-KEY. Well, at least I can download Starcraft anytime I want to :)
luckily i have never bought any kind of game to find out there was a different CD in it. Did that happen to any of you with playstation games? Get a copy of resident evil with a cher greatest hits cd lol
Only time I ever have was with a DS game I saw at good will. I opened it up to check if there was a game inside, saw the game, closed the case, and upon later inspection noticed it was a different game then the box went to. Wasn't to big of a deal, both were worth about the same amount.

the old manager here used to take most games home, and then mark the ones left to higher than Ebay prices...when I would ask if she would discount them she would say "that would cost you twice that at walmart" ya, walmart sells genny games and N64 controllers now? now the store has jehovas witnesses working there and has gone even further downhill, they just pile items around the store and "witness" to people that come in..they have never approached me I must look to scary lol.. I cant wait till they do, i'll jsut witness to them about my church and how they follow a con-man from the 1800's.

OT but we actually had a bunch of Jehova's around town during easter here, odd as I haven't seen them in YEARS over here, at least they are easier to get rid of than those energy company scammers.

Definitely frustrating on our end, but like mentioned: think about their job and how much it sucks beyond normal retail due to the clientele that those stores attract. There's nothing greater than finding that gem of a game but quite frankly I'd rather have the job I have now than work there for that kind of 'fringe benefit'.

I'm pretty sure the employees cherry pick at BB too because since the in-store pick up guarantee went away before this last holiday season I haven't been able to complete an in-store order for shit when there is a hot item/sale going on. I know that the availability goes away when the stock is down to 3 or something close, so when it's available and employees see orders coming in for the cheap price, I know they set them aside and don't fulfill it.

Yeah I worked with a guy whose cousin worked at SA and the guy I worked worth got a nearly new laptop for like 40 bucks. The SA employee also said he got a 42 inch hdtv for "next to nothing" the same day.
Wish I could have gotten rare video games for doing that kind of shit when I was a lifeguard. I got to clean up vomit and liquid stool from the pool frequently. I also got to peel tampons off the bathroom wall after closing when girls thought it would be funny to fling them at the wall (happened multiple times believe it or not). Only "fringe benefit" we got was being able to take candy from the concession stand when we were manning it.

LOL I worked at Woodstock back in 1994 and the workers' camp had porto-crappers filled to overflowing and some woman decided it'd be funny to put her tampon atop one of the piles like a flag.:roll:

I heaved, I gagged and then I laughed my ass off while trying to find one that wasn't quite so full. All I gotta say is there were quite a few acrobats working there at the time cuz filled to overflowing was an understatement. :whistle2:#

Well, I imagine one of the "fringe benefits" of being a lifeguard is the eye candy, if you know what I mean ;)

All the fat hairy men you can handle!

I don't think I'll have to worry about employees cherry picking games at my thrift store. Unless there's some great electronics, they won't grab them. My thrift store is run almost entirely by women. So I might not be able to get those perfect pair of pants I've been dying for. But the gaming stuff is safe.

Picked up Marvel vs Capcom 2 for xbox about a year and half ago spent 8 dollars on the complete game game was in mint condition for the most part. Picked up a dreamcast a few month's ago for 13 dollars came with everything it was marked as 25 but I talked them down since there was permanent marker on the system with a name I just used nail polish remover and it came right off.

I picked up a Genesis and 3 button controller for it at a local thrift store whose profits benefit the local Humane Society for $2.12.

I have to test it, but if it works I may put it up on my TL(system only) for cost + shipping since I have a model 3 already.

I found some SNES carts at a thrift for $2 a piece
Super Castlevania 4
Y's III
Actraiser
Actraiser 2
Mortal Kombat
Art of Fighting
Super Punch-out
Final Fight

I found gameboy games for 69 cents a piece. Pokemon Sapphire, Zelda: Minish Cap, Zelda: Oracle of Ages, and Survival kids. I also picked up Star Soldier Vanishing Earth for 1.99 and a game gear case for 99 cents.

Great score. :applause:

I found PS1 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone for 3.93 at goodwill. Say what you will, but this game is a blast once you get past the flying parts.

Also, same goodwill has a PS1 multitap CIB for 15 bucks, but I passed. Should I go back? Poke or no poke?

Actually, I know of a Kmart that's just FINALLY clearancing a PS1 multitap CIB. I forget how much they wanted for it, but it was under $20 the last time I was there.

Nice, but I got you beat. I went to a Kmart that was kind of out of the way of civilization because I knew they had No More Heroes for $15. Their dingy electronics section still had that old GC/PS2/Xbox demo station (I played Dark Cloud for a bit). When I was sifting through their clearance games, I saw a copy of 2Xtreme for 15 cents. Of course I bought it, cause I'm an addict.

It was odd, you would have thought it would have been pennied out by then. But this Kmart looks like they never through anything away.

I just wanted to express my excitement over finding a $10 N64 with an expansion pack in it at the Goodwill:

:bouncy:

Of course, the only two games there were WWE Warzone and WCW Nitro. >_

did anyone ever look in those back rooms they have? every time i've passed by it looks like they had all kinds of stuff back there that wasn't put out for some reason.

That's the recently donated stuff that has to be sorted/inspected/priced before hitting the floor. They have to check that's it, wasn't put on a recall at some point, figure out how much it's going to be, and make sure they can even sell it- a lot of people treat thift stores like dumpsters and 'donate' soiled clothes or completely broken thingsso they don't have to deal with 'em. Or sometimes they just don't think about what they're allowed to sell- I'm sure the fellow who dropped the box of ammo and porn at my sister's old store had the best of intentions- but unfortunately, the local good will couldn't sell those kinds of things.

That's what makes me laugh about the multitudes of DVD-R's and VHS tapes I've seen at my local SA stores. Imagine if someone made their own porno and either taped over a regular movie or put it on what you might think was a 'blank' DVD-R.

Imagine when someone buys that and goes to use it? I just hope that if someone taped over a movie they didn't tape over some kid's video, since I could only imagine the response of the parent buying it for their kids.

I got the lost vikings, earthworm Jim 2, and a official xbox duke controller for 1 dollar each. I also picked up a copy of fight club on DVD for 2 bucks.
this new thrift store thread doesnt seem to get as many post as the 2008 one did. no good finds? people posting elsewhere?
I'll post some finds since I went pawn/thrift shopping yesterday but I'm going to be lazy about posting pictures since it wasen't anything special.

2nd stop (Rescue Workers) - First time I've actually found anything worth buying at this store

Super Scope Receiver - $1
Double Player Receiver - $1 (http://www.nesplayer.com/database/accessories/doubleplayer.htm)
SNES 1st Party AC Adaptor - .50

5th stop - New consignment shop in town. I offered $2 for Super Mario World which was taken (asking $3)

Well for one, a lot of people had been posting their finds in the 2008 thread even if it is 2009. Hopefully, that has stopped and people will post in the correct thread.

you should have seen the stack of henti in the kids section at a local thrift two weeks ago, a worker was standing there looking through the SNES games with me talking about which ones we like and I happend to see a boob on the cover of a DVD case below the games. I pulled them out and showed them to her...she said it was going behind the counter untill a certian customer comes in. I guess there is a certain guy that gives good money for all that stuff that they get in.

Found a couple nice things today.

N64 GameShark (v 3.2) - $6
PS3 Guncon (namco nc-109) - $6
Battery operated Mario Kart toy (Mario character) - $1
Paper Mario Official Guide - $1
Picked up a copy of Bonk Adventures (NES) for $3. Bless my iPhone and vgpc.com or I would have passed on it.
WOW!! and thank you for alerting me to the rarity of that game!!

Picked up a few nice things today. I was almost resigned to walk out of the store, because all they had out were the usual assortment of Genesis sports titles, when an employee brought out a cart of stuff to put out. This girl (sooo freaking cute. Tattoos, punk style, my type of girl :D) started unloading the cart, and I spotted some Genesis games in there. I asked if I could get first crack at the cart, and she smiled (

Long-time thrifter, but I have never really had much luck finding any game related stuff. Did have a score today though; two Wavebirds for $1.75 each.

My friends and I went to the local GW today on a whim, and I walked out with a working SNES (w/ 3 official controllers & AC adapter... though no RF or AV cable) for $12. They also had 2 complete PS1, one for $10 the other for $8, and a Sega Master System that appeared CIB for $15... crazy considering that place never has anything.

the only pawn store i went to closed down. i think they were avoiding taxes/ i went by a few days ago and the whole place was emptied out. they had any game for straight up $5. the other stores around here follow ebay/amazon. so you see 25-45 stickers on carts. bastards. now where will i go for a quick fix?

i found a xbox llive 1 month sub card for 1 dollar, i figured it propably was stolen so it hadnt been activated, but lo and behold, it worked

Same problem for me the last couple years. Especially at Goodwills, all the stuff is either put on shopgoodwill.com, bought before it hits the floor, or put at ebay prices. Same thing with the pawn shops, the one closest to me actually has higher prices on games than the GameStop across the street :hot:

Dropped by a thrift this afternoon, they had tons of games and DVDs 1. in boxes, that were 2. on the floor, 3. behind a counter. How do they expect to ever sell any of it like that? Anyway, it was mostly old sports game junk, but I got a nice, non-scratched copy of FF IX for $1.71.

Went to a flea market and 2 Goodwills today. Only game stuff I saw at the flea market where some Genesis sports games-passed. First GW still had the $40 black Dreamcast, 2 controller, memory card, and UFC game bundle from last week, some more Genesis sports games, and 2 copies of Mario/Duck Hunt. Games were $4 apiece-passed. 2nd GW was one I never been to, they had a $10 Genesis with nothing, a Quickshot controller for NES, and a $15 PS1 in the electronics aisle-passed. Walked over to the videos and cds and see 3 NES games marked $4 so I grab them since other people were around and I look around and find 4 more and theyre marked $1 each. They also had Sonic 1 and 3 CIB, some CIB Intellivision game, CIB NBA Jam for Gamegear, and 2 CIB Saturn sports games-passed. 25% off games today so for $12.85 I got Journey to Silius, Rampage, Tiger Heli, Days of Thunder, Sky Shark, Break Thru, and Rad Racer for NES. Nothing too great but didnt have any in my collection and for about $1.84 apiece I couldnt pass.

non game but still cool

I got about.... 300 + worth of manga all in great condition for the prince off... $29 =D

There were some cool game things though
An original intendo for about $14 it looked like it was in great condition, a sega genesis also in good condition for $20? and a few other things =D

^nice! I saw an unidentified CLAMP manga at an out of town salvation army about a week back, but I passed it up, it being in Japanese and I'm not a fan of CLAMP. I picked up a weird Luffy action figure with suction cups on his hands and feet. He's hanging in the window of my car.

My friend picked up a Captain America game for Genesis at the same thrift store where I make most of my gaming finds. It's was CIB, and even included a pin that was advertised on the box, still in it's plastic bag. Whoever donated this game kept it pristine. Makes me wonder why they were donated in the first place.

Salvation Army:
Bambi 1963 Disney Record: $.99
Johnny Appleseed 1949 Disney Record: $.99
Star Wars X-wing original Guide from 1993: $.69

Add on Goodwill:
a different Disney Bambi Record: $.30
Ultimate Doom for Windows 95: $2.00

My local goodwill let me down today for the first time in a long time. They just had the usual Genesis sports titles and one copy of Golf for the NES. I've got a manual for that now, maybe I should pick it up. I probably won't, though. They want $4.99 for it.

I went to Goodwill the other day, and I found the Sims 3 (yes the sims 3 that came out last month) for $15. I had to do a double take to make sure I wasnt dreaming, but it was the real deal. Also in perfect condition. That was a memorable day for me:D

Today was a half price sale at the SA so I went there to see if I could find anything. The prices were much lower than before, but some high priced items mixed in. I guess they realized they would not sell any clothes at 5$ for a worn out t-shirt, t-shirts were 99 cents. I got a genesis game (Wayne's World) for 40 cents (marked 79 cents). The game is complete and after cleaning the contacts doesn't look like it was ever played.

The funny thing about it was the woman at the counter opened it up and she was like, what the **** is this, a camera? Then I am like an old video game. It was mixed in with the books and VCR tapes.

I stopped by the local Salvation Army. They're currently operating out of the parking lot after their building burnt. Their inventory seems to change fairly often now and prices are lower for the most part.

I picked up Yoshi's Cookie for the NES and Ren & Stimpy: Veediot for the SNES for $1 total. Ren & Stimpy looks in great condition outside of a contact cleaning. Yoshi's Cookie has the tab of the label loose, but for .50 I couldn't pass and I'm sure with a dab of rubber cement I can get it to stick back down again.

They also still had Star Wars Battlefront II and Sky High (UMD) for the PSP for $6 each. Oh, and two different PS/PS2 racing wheels. I considered getting one for my dad, and my sister is interested in getting a PS2 soon (and has a PS) so I guess she plans on looking at them and possibly picking them up tomorrow. They were $2 and $3. One was Nyko, one was Nascar.

I went to the salvation today, they had some PS1 games mixed in the with music cd's, including Frogger, Crash Bash, and Crash team racing greatest hits, all were marked $5 so I passed.

They had the usual old vcr's and speakers that look like they came from a garbage bin, other then that, it looks like they are gonna be doing a huge re-stock soon because of how empty the place is.
