I have a question for you guys. I just got a Wii yesterday but haven't hooked it up yet. I've seen screenshots of the Wii channels. Does each VC game take up a channel? If so, what happens when you run out of channels? Is that even possible?
Multiply what you've seen screenshots of by 3 or 4 (I don't rememeber how many pages they give you). That's how many channels/games you can get. If you run out of room, you can just delete a game or move it onto an SD card - you can either copy it back from the SD card or download it again to play it again.

Thanks.

I also still own the Super Ghouls N Ghosts cart for SNES.

Never beat it, and probably never will.
Though I will proudly say I made it to the final level as a kid.
Probably couldn't make it that far now. Don't have the patience anymore.
Hehe, I still remember where some of the secret chests are if I think about it. Love me that gold armor.

Well, the Ninja Turtles Arcade Game has been confirmed for XBLA this month. Konami and Ubisoft aren't stupid enough to just release the first NES travesty, right? They'll milk this for all its worth and give us the latter 2 NES games, as well as the SNES and Genesis games, right? RIGHT?!

While XBLA has to go through a whole development process, Nintendo basically just needs to pull the ROM off a shelf, make a few tweaks, test it out, and put it up. Obviously the licensing and rating is taken care of to let the XBLA release go through, so nothing really standing in the way of a VC release. With the movie hitting, they'll probably want to get as much exposure for these games as possible.

The first TMNT game was the one that showed up on the ESRB... that's the one we're probably getting.

I'd love it if they dropped all 3 TMNT NES games in our lap, to be honest... maybe even threw in the SNES one.

But we'll get the first shitty one so don't get your hopes up.

In other news, I will be psyched when these two things happen:

A) Sega finally runs out of games on the Sega Classics Collection to throw on the VC, and gives us shit like Beyond Oasis or Landstalker.

B) Sega lets other companies put their Genesis games on the VC... what the fuck is the hold up here?

Does anyone have a USED wii points card? I need a spare code to compare it to mine for something :)

If you dont want to give me one please dont be a dick.

Asshole.

Yet again Jebus tortures me with a week of no Super Metroid.

And this is the one big issue that the Virtual Console could and probably will have: Nintendo might be looking at the Wii as a console that will be viable through at least the end of this decade, so they'll probably pace the 'big' VC releases according, possibly releasing titles like this in conjunction with the appropriate Wii titles. They've been excellent about getting games (that's PLURAL, Microsoft!) out there on a weekly basis, but it wouldn't take them too long to burn through all of 'the greats' at this rate.

Bottom line here: I bet we won't see Super Metroid until at least the one-month mark before Corruption. And, no, I don't think they'll put the game on the disc as an unlockable, or give you a promotional code for it when you buy/preorder the game. Not in America, anyway.
Do you guys think it is possible we may see goldeneye on the VC in the future?
Rare has said it is not impossible, but that's about it.

Dont bet on it, Rare, Nintendo, Microsoft, EA, and Activision all have stakes in that game and the Bond license. Getting all 5 of them to agree on something isnt too likely.

Of course, anything is possible.

Is profit split five ways profitable?

I don't know, man.

I have a feeling two of those parties (Nintendo & MS) have their own formulas for the transaction. If Banjo is possible on XBLA, who's to say Goldeneye isn't?

My point, my good man. ;)

[edit: Come on Tecmo Bowl!]
What in the name of Shaq-Fu is "Elevator Action"? Is that a 16-bit porno game?
Hahahahahaa.

Well saturday is coming up and I am going to try and find a point card at BB (got a gift card) and if I don't find one my day will be fucking ruined because I want DKC (I also have to buy the Burning Crusade too, but that is not a oh I want to buy it deal, it is more like, hey spend $40 to get to higher level areas, damit)

Actually, I think it's an 8-bit porno game.

Upcoming Japanese VC games include:

Excitebike (NES)
Legend of the Mystical Ninja (SNES)
Sonic Spinball (Gen) - 3/13
Fire Pro Wrestling (TG-16)

Only one date on those, but they're probably prime candidates for the US as well.

I figure we will get Zelda this week and maybe Excitebike. Firepro was never big in America so I'm not sure if that will be a released title here. Sonic Spinball is a given.

European VC Releases for Friday, March 9th were:

Galaga - NES.
Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts - SNES.
Double Dugeons - TG16.

So we'll probably get Galaga, Double Dugeons, and at least 1 or maybe 2 other games on Monday. Splatterhouse and/or Excite Bike would be my guesses.

Don't count on the European releases being American releases. Were STILL waiting for Zelda II!

Well I finally bet Kirby's Adventure, and boy that game is fucking awesome. Got DKC today finally...

This week I am thinking...
Zelda II
Sonic Spinball
Excitebike

I loved Legend of the Mystical Ninja! I lost that game so many years ago, and I would love to have it back!

That's the exact list I have in mind.

I looked around various websites and can't find anymore rumored titles.

You could always just get the GBA versions if they don't release it on the VC...
I also have a feeling that ExciteTruck AND/OR Sonic Spinball will be here tomorrow.
I doubt ExciteTruck.

I know - just being a jerk, but Excitebike would be neat, though I don't think I'll play 5 bucks for it.

Well, I own a number of the imports (though I may have sold them all except for Z on PS2), but the nostalgia of the earliest titles is a level of cool that the new ones don't have.

If my memory serves, the original only had twelve or so wrestlers, including a bad ripoff of Big Van Vader w/ his steaming mastodon mask. It's nowhere as complex as the new titles, but that's not the point of the VC.

And, at the very least, it would show more potential for bringing over classic games that never saw the light of day here. One day's Hagane and Fire Pro Wrestling is another's Earthbound Zero.

I just want plain ol' Pro Wrestling, for crying out loud.

Oh, and both the Vader steaming helmet and your Big Bully Busick dealy rock.

Great...if only it was super tecmo bowl (nes or snes) I would be making my first vc game purchase/download.

Why must the Gods toy with me?

I was just talking about how great it would be to have super tecmo bowl with a friend the other day. In my opinion, it is the greatest football game to ever grace any console. I don't know what there is about it but it is excellent. Is it possible they had to go with this version since it doesn't use real player names? Or does it...it has been years since I played the original.

Now to contemplate downloading this version since my snes is miles upon miles away (I'm at college) and I could really use some tecmo bowl loving.

Any ideas how licensing will effect Tecmo Bowl....it's not like they still have the license to have Jerry Rice, Bernie Kosar and Bo Jackson's names in the game. Interesting.

WrestleCrap'sRD;2741287]I just want plain ol' Pro Wrestling said:
It's already out in Japan, right? So it's more a "when" than "if," right? I hope so.

The Fire Pro in Japan is the tag team edition, so suddenly I'm a little less interested.

Depends on how the original license was written.

It could either be a deal where Tecmo got a license for that season that doesnt really "expire" or that the license was good for a set time frame and Tecmo couldnt print any more copies after that. It also matters if the console was specified in the deal.

In either case the NFL and NFLPA are probably still getting their cuts.

Someone linked this info, don't know if it was in this thread or an earlier thread, but here's the text so there's no more conjecture. From Wikipedia...
Tecmo Bowl contains twelve teams, each equipped with four plays. Most teams have two running plays and two passing plays. The exceptions are San Francisco and Miami who have three passing plays and one running play, and Los Angeles (Raiders), who have three running plays.

Tecmo, Inc. was not able to get the NFL's consent to use real team names. As a result, the teams in the game are identified solely by their home city or state. However, each roster conveniently mimics that of the NFL team based out of the same city or state.

The teams mimicked in the game are the Indianapolis Colts, the Miami Dolphins, the Cleveland Browns, the Denver Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks, the Los Angeles Raiders, the Washington Redskins, the San Francisco 49ers, the Dallas Cowboys, the New York Giants, the Chicago Bears, and the Minnesota Vikings. The reason behind the selection of these particular twelve teams is not known, though some guess that the Tecmo programmers attempted to include the most dominant teams from the era
Super Tecmo Bowl, on the other hand, had an NFL License, so it may be less likely than its NES counterpart to appear on the VC.
