Ah, the best Sonic game is up. It is mine this evening.

Please spare me the "SONIC MEGA COLLECTION LOL!!!" posts, thanks! ;)

 I agree. The only thing that's holding me back from buying this now is the fact that we saw rumors of a Sega Vintage Series on the XBLA--and Sonic 2 was apart of that. I rather have a Sonic 2 w/ leaderboards, & achievements. So I'll wait this one out, but one way or another I'm gonna wind up getting Sonic 2.

I hate to say it, but I like Golden Axe.. :whistle2:(
I might be dishing out some of my 11,000+ points for this LOL

Ooh, touche!
Didn't think about that :)
Ooh, touche!
Didn't think about that :)
That classic controller is so perfect for everything that doesn't use analog, that I think I'd likely buy any Genesis game for $8 on the VC over buying them on the 360, even if they were like $1. My playthrough of SotN on the 360 is stalled largely because neither the inaccurate dpad nor the analog stick for 2D stuff really works for me. Someone needs to get the 360 and the Wii Remote talking for non-XNA stuff, post-haste!

Oh screw it.
I'm going to start buying non-N64 VC games now.

SIGH. I could only resist for so long.
It's neat to have them. I STILL HATE THE PRICES, but whatever, I make enough money.
Only to keep up appearences. ;)

I'm sure eventually we will get Sonic 3, and then Sonic & Knuckles. But I wonder if they will actually be ghetto about it and release "Sonic 1 & Knuckles" .."Sonic 2 and Knuckles" and "Sonic 3 and Knuckles"....I would really be mad at them.

ahhh..remember that? Was I the only one who thought that putting in a game (Sonic & Knuckles) and THEN putting in another game on top of that game and form an almost brand new game was the COOLEST thing EVER?! I still do thing that's pretty cool..very unique :applause:..that was like "DLC" for it's time !!

Damn, I saw the new titles and I thought HELL YES!!!!!

Then I realized I still have Sonic 2 on Saturn. And Lode Runner shouldn't be 500 points. And Golden Axe shouldn't be 800 points either.

I also looked at my account and I have 100 points. Boo.

I don't think that we'll see the "and Knuckles" games because there's probably not demand. I also think that we won't get them in any form because unless it's a hidden feature in the games they've already released, they'd probably have to release it as a new download entirely. That's how they handled it in Mega Collection - the "and Knuckles" versions were separate from the originals.

I still need a Wii. At least I've already got Sonic Mega Collection when I do get one...:D

I loved doing that.
It was really cool.
I'm sad that games have lost that magic lustre for me now, but at I still have fun now and then.

I traded that POS in because you couldn't save.
I traded that POS in because you couldn't save.
Wait, could you save on the original games?
I don't remember being able to.
Wait, could you save on the original games?
I don't remember being able to.
You could on the Xbox version of the collection, but I never really messed around with the GC version. The XB had a save-state setup.

They had better not be stupid about Sonic 3 & Knuckles. S&K is a great game, but Sonic 3 is like 1/2 a game and needs S&K to complete it.
You could on the Xbox version of the collection, but I never really messed around with the GC version.
PS2 and Xbox had a save option, GC did not.

I bought it for GC because it came out first, and thought it would be more true to what SEGA was about.

Or something.

We should turn this thread into some sort of guessing game, then whoever has the most correct predictions at the end of the month gets Wii points or something.

But of course I'm too lazy to do so.

Anyway, decent releases and I'm surprised there isn't a TG16 game. I'm somewhat tempted for Golden Axe but meh. What I really want is Capcom to step it up and throw out more games like Final Fight 2 or specifically, Knights of Round.

Well, they (Nintendo) can update/patch existing VC games (re: Starfox64). The perfect solution would be that if you buy Sonic & Knuckles along with Sonic1-3, then the original Sonic games would be patched for you with the Knuckles content.

Not saying it will happen or is likely, but it should be possible.

Wow, just nabbed Sonic 2. I know people have mentioned it for other titles, but that's really the first one that popped for me. The first level in 480p looks gorgeous.

Does it really look that much better? Though to be honest I wouldn't be able to tell. It all looks a thousand times better since I played all my VC games on a handed down 13 inch TV with knobs for everything.

Golden Axe II isn't quite as fun as I remembered it being. Music's good, but the other sound effects suffer, particularly the one death noise that's shared by 80 percent of the game's enemies and thus gets annoying very quickly.

Decent download, but I'm left wishing the VC had just gotten the arcade Golden Axe instead of either of these.

Even though Sonic 2 is my 2nd fav game ever I wont be downloading. I have the PS2 collection and the d-pad there is just as good as the CC. Ok week I guess, but nothing I would bite on.
Will Goldeneye ever make it to VC??
NO. Rare doesn't have Bond License and Rare is owned by Microsoft now, not Nintendo, so no Rare VC games that are not Donkey Kong (since Donkey Kong is owned by Nintendo).

Meaning no Banjo Kazooie, which blows. D=
Dear Nintendo,
Please put Super Mario RPG: LoTSS on the VC.

Fixed for better game.

Sorry for bringing this up, since I know we're all sick of it.

But regarding Super Mario RPG, does Nintendo fully own it? Or is the reason it's taking forever is because Square owns some of it and are being asses?

It's hard to say it's taking forever, given that there are dozens of other rated games, and thousands of unrated games that aren't out yet. But I'm sure Square has plenty of say in the matter regardless.

Oooh, YEAH. Completely didn't realize that a mess of games back in the day didn't have ratings!.. So wait, when did "KA" change to E-Everyone ((I know that's off topic, but just wondering..)) I remember a lot games I had were "KA"

I got a massive amount of points and they need to be spent. Give us something good and won't appear on XBL! lol

According to Wikipedia:

K-A — Kids to Adults: Contains content that may be suitable for ages 6 and older. These titles will appeal to people of many ages and tastes. They may contain minimal violence, some comic mischief (for example, slapstick comedy), or some crude language. It was replaced by Everyone on January 1, 1998.

Don't know if it was mentioned in the thread, but last week Japan got Shining in the Darkness (Genesis), Neutopia 2 (TG 16), and Field Combat (some NES game).

On the 19th, they are getting Sonic 2, Bonk 3, and Devil Crush for TG 16.

Ha, all Europe got was J.J on Jeff on Friday

Tomorrow, we can already expect Bloody Wolf and World Sports Competition for TG 16. Looks to be a very shitty Monday.

Wait...NEUTOPIA!??!?! Bastards!

any hints for tomorrow? Since mario rpg has been in ESRB review for the wii since nov 07 it should be coming eventually. It took like 6 months for starfox to show up.

Usually 9am (est) Nintendo updates it's press site. I'll have the OP updated ASAP. Hopefully we get something good today :)

I'm pretty sure speedy of deal-posting-fame has one. See if you can borrow it.

That reminds me, neither Back to the Future nor Back to the Future II & III should appear on the VC, ever. What horrible, horrible games.

I just look at the VC when I first wake up to see what's new, I'm usually disappointed but it's a reason to turn the Wii on.

And... it reminds me of getting excited in the morning when the Sega Channel would be updated with new games. I miss those days!

WII-KLY UPDATE: THREE NEW CLASSIC GAMES ADDED TO WII SHOP CHANNEL

June 18, 2007

Father's Day is over, but the Wii Shop Channel has plenty of competitive games to keep pop hopping. Whether dad's a golf fan, an overall sports enthusiast or just a guy who likes to rescue prisoners with his special forces buddies, this is the week for him.

Three new classic games go live at 9 a.m. Pacific time. Nintendo adds new games to the Wii Shop Channel every Monday. Wii™ owners with a high-speed Internet connection can redeem Wii Points™ to download the games. Wii Points can be purchased in the Wii Shop Channel or at retail outlets. This week's new games are:

NES Open Tournament Golf™ (NES®, 1-2 players, Rated E for Everyone, 500 Wii Points): We all knew that Mario™ was a top-notch plumber, but did you know that he could also be a world-class golfer? You can challenge another player in Stroke, Match and Tournament modes. Play on three fantasy courses in the USA, the UK and Japan and try to win a million dollars. Make sure you keep an eye on the wind and distance to the hole before selecting your club, or else you'll be racking up some high scores - which is exactly what you don't want to do in this game. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced golfer, NES Open Tournament Golf is perfect for those days when you just can't get to the local golf course.

World Sports Competition (TurboGrafx-16, 1-5 players, Rated E for Everyone, 600 Wii Points): Play through a total of 18 Olympic events in this action/sports title. Players compete in six categories of events that include shooting, archery, rowing, swimming and track and field. The game features Olympics mode, where you play all the events over the course of a few days, and Training mode, where you can choose individual events to play. After practicing in Training mode, go for the gold in Olympics mode and break world records. Depending on your play time and ability, you can enjoy the game a number of different ways. Gather friends and play in competitions with up to five players to get even more out of this great game.

Bloody Wolf (TurboGrafx-16, 1 player, Rated E10+ for Everyone 10 and Older - Animated Blood, Violence, 600 Wii Points): Enter alone, deep into enemy territory to rescue the kidnapped President in this overhead-view action shooter. Take on the role of a commando in a Special Forces team and face your enemies with an onslaught of weapons, including machine guns and grenades. Earn valuable information, weapons and items by rescuing POWs. Fight your way to the end of each stage and defeat the boss by effectively using your weapons and equipment. This port of the insanely popular arcade game features refined graphics, story and cut-scenes, making this action game a must-have. This new and enhanced version includes the never-been-told second half of the story that was left out of the arcade version.
