The last flight of stairs was removed in XX32 AD by an angry group of Daleks tired of being taunted by people who utilized the changing elevation to their advantage.
Those were the old model Daleks, the new ones can elevate. At least on their way to leveling the building.

I think that she lets the door close on her and she just keeps jumping through the wall until she gets to the next level.
I can imagine Samus at the mall. She ignores the escalator and bombs half the second level so she can climb the rubble to get to Bath and Body Works.

I just grabbed it off of Gametap. I'll try to take a look at it tonight and see how it looks.

I really love that service. Want to take a look at a Genesis game, 10 seconds later you're playing it. I know the rom world makes that possible too, but this is nice and easy.
How much is Gametap monthly though? I'm on chapter 4 of Shining Force, woohoo!
How much is Gametap monthly though? I'm on chapter 4 of Shining Force, woohoo!
$9.95 a month, or $8.95 average over 3 months, or $6.95 over a year.

I did the yearly plan last year when they ran a $59.95 promotion for the whole year. Even if I have to go to the $6.95 a month plan after that, it's worth it. They have a nice Genesis and Neo Geo library already and they're getting much better with recent PC games as well.

Got Metroid. Still as pretty as I remember her.

Next week I'm going to splurge and get Super Metroid, Paper Mario, and Dragon Crush? that tg-16 pinball game.
Maybe Star Fox 64 as well.

I picked up Metroid today and I'll definitely be getting Super Metroid. After that I'll have to move on to a new page on the Wii Menu...

SF64 is still pretty solid. I actually didn't realize they "updated" it until last week and haven't it played it since, not sure how that affected it.

What did they update?
What did they update?
They updated the controls, from what I heard from my roommate. Apparently, the controls were awful for classic controller/GCube controller, so they changed them in an update.

I heard SF64 had some severe frame rate issues at certain points in the game as well as updating the controller to a more useful layout.

Lolo is one of the most addictive games on the NES, beware!

No doubt. I've been playing it every night. Almost done with Floor 5 now.

thoughts on the original metroid.
so i've played (in order) super metroid, metroid prime, metroid prime 2, metroid: zero mission, and now the original. and man this first one has some major flaws. i didn't enjoy it and i've quit and won't go back to it.

complaints, no where to recharge energy. enemies take away far too much energy. no map. certain weapons are far too hidden. bosses are insanely far from elevators, where you're brought back to after you die. not being able to duck and shoot or shoot at angles really makes it hard. the game gives no direction on where to go.

i've since gotten the invincibility code and have torn the game apart. eat that metroid.

The original was designed with old school hard in mind. Even at that, I could beat Metroid in under an hour on a replay back when I had my original NES. Good luck.

i watched a speed run on youtube. under an hour is pretty damn good. i guess i just don't have it in me to play those types of old school games anymore.

I like the fact that the game tries to bust your balls. I didn't even realize how dependent I've become on things like recharge rooms (thank you, Castlevania).

Plus I never beat it as a kid, so if I somehow manage to do so now, that might mean I'm able to regain part of that innate ability I've seemed to have lost in the transition to predominantly 3D gaming.

If I could beat this as an 8 year old, you can beat it now.
Milk those enemies to get energy, takes time, but that's how you do it.

Speaking of Castlevania, Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest has just been rated by the ESRB for the VC.

Oh shit.

MUST HAVE.

Of all the games that scream out for a remake, this one is high on the list.

That and Goonies II.

Get the fuck on it, Konami.

Ugh, Castlevania 2 was the one I hated the most out of them. I'll probably still pick it up, though .. it just means we'd be one closer to Castlevania 3 so its great in that aspect. And lol@that video .. that was pretty funny.

BTW: Still waiting for Earthbound and Shadowrun!

Must agree here. I'm actually playing Shadowrun again currently via...methods. Really a gem not enough people played.

I guess it's because the fighting mechanics aren't that great. Eh.

I actually have Shadowrun in my SNES, which is next to the Wii currently, but I don't have the time to play it anymore with the Wii in the house. That and Madden 08 takes any time I had. And nooooo on Snap, I thought it was a decent game, but I'd be tempted to pick it up if it came out.

It's sick. I know for $10 I'd have the game beaten in 2-3 days..but.. man. That game was just so fun!

It's even more maddening because a Wii sequel would be PERFECT. I can def see using the Wiimote/Nunchuk to easily work this game.. and theres also like 300+ new Pokemon since that game. And it has the word "Pokemon" in it.. so it WOULD sell..!!

LOL...Listening to that, I'm agreeing with him about the game yet wanting to kick him in the nuts for whining so much.

Yeah, I could really see a Pokemon Snap 2 selling and doing pretty well on the Wii with the controls, however I wouldn't care if it occured, tbh. I know a family member however would be ready to buy it at midnight at Walmart, though.

i don't mind sucking at metroid. i think i can live with that. there's too many other games i want to play to be wasting time with a game that i don't think is fun. i don't want to do it just because i can.

with the game, i think if you get all the weapons and abilites as soon as possible this game is very doable. searching for these things is my favorite part of the metroid series. but in this game it's just bombing every wall and floor in the whole game.

mentioning this reminds me that i bombed every rocked wall in the legend of zelda and burned every bush. in both the first and second world. and i enjoyed it. but now i know better.

Playing Zero Mission definitely helped me appreciate the original Metroid a lot more. Back in the NES days, I'd always be lost and could never really find all the stuff needed to get anywhere. Playing through the game years later, I could beat it, but it was still annoying.

After playing through Zero Mission though, the original Metroid was fun. And it was because, thanks to playing Zero Mission so much and getting all the endings, I knew where to go in the original Metroid to get the vital upgrades without even trying.

Am I missing something?

I downloaded Mario Kart 64 and Legend of Zelda: OoT. Both picture the classic controller and Gamecube controller as being supported. This is a lie. The gamecube controller is not supported.. or the wavebird, at least, because that's what I am trying to use and it only works with the classic controller. I'm kinda pissed.

I'm pissed. I think I have a valid argument. I e-mailed Nintendo customer support. I do have a classic controller, but it annoys the hell out of me to play with it. All I wanted to do was play the VC games wirelessly. What a waste of $20 (Zelda OOT and Mario Kart 64). This sucks.

//edit: Uhh.. okay. Somehow between playing my last Cube game a few hours ago and now, the channels got fucked. I'm an idiot.

They definitely need to come out with a wireless classic controller. With rumble support that works for Cube games. Basically, make it the Wavebird 2.0.

i'd be fine if they just moved the effin' CC cord to the top of the controller instead of the bottom.

i know there's a mod out there to do it, but i don't want to crack open my cc.

Yeah, cords should be at the top, not at the bottom.

Heard that this week's games are in the great/good range. And there still might be a TG16 game. I'm not too happy about that.

But, it definitely means no Math game. Where are the Turtles?

Where's SMRPG ? :))

Couldn't resist, because I haven't seen that game asked about as much lately. That is THE game I am waiting for, along with Earthbound. I doubt we'll get either this week because it looks like Super Metroid is on deck...

With the release of Metroid and Super Metroid in the weeks preceding Metroid Prime: Corruption, I have a feeling we may see SMB 3 and SMRPG in the weeks before Super Mario Galaxy, and SSB (N64) the week before SSBB

Both because it's not a Mario platformer, and because Squeenix is probably still dicking around with it one way or another.
//edit: Uhh.. okay. Somehow between playing my last Cube game a few hours ago and now, the channels got fucked. I'm an idiot.
I'm fairly convinced that I have gremlins in my Wavebirds and receivers that just dink with the channel settings. Maybe you have them too?

I don't know if you're goofing or if you're serious, but sometimes I'll just lose control in a GC game with the wavebird. To restore control, I click a channel up or down on the controller and then return to the original channel. Usually fixes it up right away.

I don't know if it's interference or what. I suspect the controller's frazmandeous transsorter is out of order, which can be restored as indicated above or with a live sacrifice according to the third statute of the original hoodoo doctrine.
