Yes. The object for the most part if to show the employer that you know (or sort of know) what you want to do for the rest of your life, so to speak. With this known, it gives the appearance that you will stay with the company in order to advance in your career rather than just seeing it as a jump that you will leave in a few months because you didn't like it.

It's hard for me to say, since I only did it for a little while, but from what I know, it's a pretty good job to have, you get a little room to be creative, you take home a big paycheck and your job is mostly secure unless the company you work for completely tanks.

On the down side, I think a lot of people move away from it because it can be stressful. You're pretty much selling your soul so that a company can look good. Truth isn't even a factor in that industry.

But that means plenty of open positions.

Perhaps I should have a few copies of my resume, each with their own objective pertaining to their own specific job type?

That way, instead of changing it each time, i'll have one ready with an objective that matches.

It's hard though, i'm trying to keep it to one page. An objective might push it over. I'll have to look it over and see what I can cut.

You may want to rearrange the layout of it to try to add more stuff without having to cut back on others. Is that gmail addy correct for you? I'll send you a copy of my resume I did when I was looking for a CO-OP last year. My adviser said it was a pretty solid resume, and it seemed to work well getting me an interview. Remember, the resume is not going to get you a job. The point of the resume is to get the interview. Your performance in the interview will determine if you get the job or not.

I know you'll probably ignore this, but here's my nickel's worth of advice

If you're looking for Journalism/PR jobs, I'm just gonna assume that these are the skills desired.

If you're looking for work outside of those areas, focus on coordinationg internal/external resources to meet deadlines, and mention of you have Access and Excel skills, just not 'Office'

No, you can send it to [email protected]. Thanks, i'd really appreciate that. I'm a very good interviewer, but in the past two years, i've applied to hundreds of jobs and had only one interview.

Access is a PITA, especially if you're using large databases.

Do you know how to make Pivot Tables in Excel? How are your PowerPoint skills?


Also, change the layout.

That box shit is annoying.

Be sure to cater your resume to the position as well.

Pivot Tables? Uhhhhhhh....

I can type stuff in each cell...and stuff.

My PowerPoint skills are top notch though. I used to make them a lot when I did PR.

Access can be a pain in the ass sometimes, but it isn't incredibly difficult. The bigger a database gets the more of a pain it becomes. If you've never used it before it may take some time. I had an entire database programming class dedicated to Access.

I usually get around 715 KB/s.

So my sister kills a roach and then later sees another roach on top of it. She's like " WTF " so she kills that one. Then another roach comes and literally drags the second dead roach into some crack in the cabinet. My sister starts hitting it frantically, and it leaves the dead roach behind.

Yeah. I need an exterminator or something. We've tried so much products that don't work. I'm willing to put my money in, this is starting to bug the shit out of me.
