I played the Hellgate London demo on Friday as the sword guy and was bored to tears. Probably should've tried the shooter before uninstalling, but oh well.

yeah, I couldn't get into it. I didn't try the shooter class before uninstalling, but what I played of the other class wasn't enough to pull me in.
I just played through the Hellgate demo again as the blademaster and I didn't thing it was that bad. Maybe not as good as the marksman but still fun. I'll have to find a demo for Titan Quest and compare, because I've never actually played a Diablo style hack 'n slash game before.

I'm starting to really get into Okami. I wish the map system was a little better, but that's one of the biggest complaints I have with this game (the endless talking is starting to get a little more reasonable).

Yeah markman a good friend of mine is from san diego and her parents are still out there. I guess they weren't affected, but that footage was creepy, as I've been out there.

I won the Classic Snow Race on PGR4 first try. That was amazing fun. Also got all platinums in the first Arcade Chapter. I love driving the bikes.

you'll love it or hate it. It's very mindless and a bit plodding, like all hack n' slash games. The biggest difference is the isometric view (which I happen to like better.) Also, the skill system and inventory menus are easier to read and understand, imo.
Titan Quest is soooo bad after like 2 or 3 hours.
Don't listen to this guy, he's a furry!

jk.

I actually liked Titan Quest and its expansion a lot. I almost finished Epic (or maybe the difficulty after that, can't remember) with a Hunter/Rogue before stopping because none of my friends wanted to move on from Diablo 2. The setting and story are generic, yes, but I find the gameplay pretty satisfying with all the different class combinations. It's as close to Diablo 3 as I'm going to get for a while, unless I really end up liking Hellgate: London.

On a side note, I got MLB Power Pros today through Gamestop's B1G1 50% off deal, and it's as friggin' awesome as everyone says it is. I've only played an exhibition game so far - Sox vs. Yanks of course - but that was enough to show me how great this game is. I can't wait to try out the Success and Season modes; it's the most fun I've had in a baseball game in years.

I also picked up Mega Man X Collection (in addition to Tales of Symphonia, which I'd been meaning to pick up for a long time) for the Gamecube, but I'm getting an out-of-range error when I try to play it through component cables on my HDTV. :( I had to move my Wii back to my room with my PC monitor. For some reason the game displays perfectly when I hook up the Wii via component on the monitor but not the HDTV in the living room. Oh well, it's worth it for this game.

Finishing the Game was solid with a couple of genuinely lol moments. Kind of like a more refined Hollywood Shuffle for Asian-Americans. I enjoyed it and it was cool seeing Dustin "21 Jump Street" Nguyen and Roger Fan (Annapolis) in person to answer questions about the film after. Too bad Justin Lin, the director, had to jet back to LA to meet Vin Diesel to pick cars for Fast & Furious 4.

Back OT, I played a smidge of HL2 then on to some Portal mind-bendiness. I will me too on Portal being a kick ass fun game and I think it was well worth the $50 I spent on Orange Box.

It's funny to read the Gamespot/GameFAQs boards for PS3 kids whining about the 7.5 Ratchet and Clank got. Gamespot is rediculous. That's worse lowballing than they've ever done. The game does look fantastic and 7.5 is inexcusable. I think it's all but confirmed they do this with big titles just to score traffic.

I'm playing through Half Life 2 right now. It is amazing. I want to play through both episodes after that, then move to Bioshock. I can only play about 30 minutes a day, so it may take a while.

I don't know about 7.5 being "inexcusable", but it does seem low for a series that has always been reviewed very well. A few of "The Bad" in the review seemed pretty weak. The stories have always been little more than setups, there's always been a ton of mini games and one-off gameplay mechanics, and how is a game being easy that much of a bad thing? Will Mario Galaxy get a lower score if it doesn't challenge the reviewer? Overall it seems like something you'd read in Game Informer, not Gamespot.

But the forum comments are very funny. I saw one guy say that GS is stopping "hundreds of thousands" of people from playing the game.

I'm so tempted to get Zack and Wiki.. but 3 games in one week is too much.. even though I sold 5 this week.

Edit: $10 Reward Zone Certificate seals the deal. At least I only want 3-4 more games for the rest of the year.. right? Simpsons DS, Mass Effect, Mario Galaxy.. maybe FFXII Revenant Wings.

As for the gamespot score, 7.5 may be closer to what the game deserves as it's good but does nothing spectacularly new, but it's just sending a message that GameSpot wants attention. Point values are stupid anyway. So are forum kids who freak out about this stuff. It's actually even more telling just how much of a vocal minority there is. Nobody really seems to care about Ratchet and Clank except that very vocal pocket of most forums that is talking about the game.

They have to be doing it for attention. Just about every other reviewer says this is the BEST Ratchet & Clank so far, yet GS and only GS says it is just about the worst. I just don't get it.

Still, the GameFaq kids are funny :p

Huh, Aeris left me a message yesterday that Ace Combat will be available this afternoon for pick up--I thought this was coming out next week? Anyway, I guess I will have even more things to pick up this afternoon.

I can see rating it lower than top notch for not innovating and feeling a bit stale, but 7.5 is where ratings typically start to go when a game deviates from fun to formulaic. It's just not consistent with what that site rates other 7.5 games. Phoenix Wright 3 recently got the same score, and for good reason. It does nothing wrong, but nothing new either, and it's not going to sway a huge legion of fans.

Just had to say that this is the best thread title ever on CAG that I've seen.
I love it. It's so funny in my head, especially the voice I give it.
Whoa, GT5 Prologue Demo is available? Crap, where have I been...must need download now.
JPN PS Store. It's great.

I caved and got Zack and Wiki, Castlevania, and Phoenix Wright today.. along with trading two non ebay selling games at a local store to get SFA Anthology and Capcom Classics Volume 1 for $4.

I've been basking in the joy of Rondo of Blood all evening. I've never played the original, but the remake is incredible.

Freaking gamestop didn't have either of the pre-order bonuses that were the reason I was even stepping foot in the cursed place.. What's wrong with those guys? did anyone else get the PW or Castlevania bonuses?

I went MIA from this forum for a little (well, I still haven't posted on other forums), because I needed time to work on my project (got a lot done, by spending over 15 hours in a lab this week working on it) and I didn't want my blood pressure increasing more over forums.

For over a day, I took a break from gaming and did other things for once. But, kind of feel like crap now after some girl trouble (It has to do with a girl I liked for a while, long story. It makes me really think about changing myself, so I can get a new girl).

Anyway, I've played Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction and absolutely love it. I played the GT5 Prologue demo the other day too. I have Folklore waiting for me at home, so I'll play that.

OT a little bit, but mana girls arent worth changing yourself for man. There are enough out there that you dont need to worry about changing yourself.

Anyways, Ive been playing more phoenix wright on ds. I bought the first game awhile ago and im just about done with the 4th trial thing. Thinking about picking up the second game since it just dropped to be real cheap.

GH3 next week and thats about it for the rest of the year in gaming pickups. Only other ones are Rock Band, Mass Effect and Assassins Creed.
Good idea (well, I tend to stick to liking only one girl too often. It partially Facebook related though. She wasn't a girl I met online, I actually knew her in real life and hugged her many times).
If you have a PSP, get Castlevania. It's solid.

The God of War demo is really impressive too.
The demo should be at home waiting for me. Thankfully I go to my hometown tomorrow evening.

I really want Castlevania, but I spent way too much this month. I'll probably just get it for Christmas.

I played more Ratchet & Clank: Tools of Destruction, after I made my previous post. I haven't played PGR4 in a while, so I might get back to it this weekend (busy all this week).

Castlevania on PSP is awesome, but this ghosting/blurring stuff is bad. Scrolling games just aren't good on PSP. It's odd that emulators never seem to have this problem, just retail games. Another area where the PSP's official features lag behind the user created ones. lol lol.

It's a fantastic game, though. Going to listen to *NEW* retronauts and play it now.

RETRONAUTS! ASSEMBLE

YOU MUST LISTEN IF EVEN YOU CANNOT HEAR

Got 7 games today, and played them all a decent amount. I'm done for the day XD

I'm probably going to concentrate on Ace Combat 6 and Phoenix Wright for now. Finish those two and move onto Ratchet and Front Mission.

Yeah, the ghosting is rough until Belmont gets into the middle of the screen and then it's not bad to focus on him with him ghosting.

The PSP screen is vibrant and bright, but overall pretty crappy.

I need to stop sucking, though. Level 4 is kicking my butt. Just now figured out that you can jump over the rushing axe armors... knowing and executing are two different things ;)

I can't wait to listen to it tomorrow.

Played a couple more hours of Okami. I don't know how I'll be able to play through the whole game, I feel like I've played all night and it turns out I've only played an hour. And it's not that the game is boring.

I wish I had picked up the first Phoenix Wright when TRU had it for $10. All this talk about the new game is giving me an itch to try it.

I honestly don't know why I don't see the ghosting everyone talks about (not sure if it has to do with some slight eye sight issues I have, me being too slow to react in some games, etc.).

Solid objects that scroll along a plane on the old PSPs that have high contrast with their background leave visible trails. It's very noticeable and fairly irritating at times. I think it has something to do with refresh rate for the screen, as those black pixels don't die out fast enough and linger onto the next frame in their old position. I've never seen this happen on the DS where pixels are clear cut in motion even when dark pixels move on a light background, where the PSP has lots of trouble. I also saw this happen on the GBA SP2 units with the brighter screens. I think it has to do with that some brighter LCD screens aren't as able to shut off colors as quickly and they ghost behind objects.

Jer's description is good. LocoRoco is especially a culprit. I thought it was just the trippy design of the game at first, but it's the PSP's screen. It's more pronounced in that game but not as obnoxious because there's not a ton of detail in that game.

Got R&C today.

I forgot to use the 10% off thing at GS so I'm thinking of holding off on playing it tonight and returning it tomorrow and re-buying with the 10% off thing. That's like...$6 I'm missing out on.

They probably wouldn't let me do that if it wasn't sealed right?

Anyone know if the achievements stack in Jericho? If I beat it on Hard, will I get the achievements for the certain levels that you have to beat on normal?
Anyone know if the achievements stack in Jericho? If I beat it on Hard, will I get the achievements for the certain levels that you have to beat on normal?
I would believe they would.

as for me, picked up PW3 today, but it's staying sealed until I finish 2. Also got word that my psp slim comes in tomorrow, so I'll be able to finally start Jeanne D'Arc.

Other than that, put in an order for Dementium: The Ward for ds, so I'm expecting that sometime next week along with Disgaea: Afternoon of Darkness on the PSP and the very next week with Dragon Quest Monsters: Joker. After my test/paper on monday, my handhelds are moving back to number 1 on my play time list.

In the mean time, I'm working on my paper due on monday and trying to get through the weekend of studying.

I'm making the PSP slim plunge as well thanks to some BB credit and the $15 off coupon.

I think I'll start with:
--Killzone
--Crush
--Jeanne D'Arc
--maybe FFT
--maybe MH2

and it's official, I have too much freaking backlog again. I don't think I'll mod this one though.

edit: If anyone has any impressions of playing games over video out, I'd really appreciate them. Maybe I haven't been looking in the right places, but it seems like no one is talking about it. Just wondering if it looks decent (I'm expecting stuff to look a little worse than an average PS2 game.)

Thanks to there not being a scaler chip in the PSP, it runs "postage stamped" on the TV with black borders all around. Doesn't sound especially great, but probably makes it look a bit better than it would be scaled and filling the screen.

The situation is that the PSP slim was really only initially made to reduce costs (like the slim PS2). The TV out was added because some wanted it and they could easily do it. Adding a scaler chip to interlace the display would add $$$ to it and make it more expensive, which is why they left it as is (from my understanding). The slim PSP is worth is alone for its lighter weight, brighter screen, better D-pad/analog nub/face buttons, not having to constantly access the UMD, etc. Unfortunately, I haven't used my TV out much since my TV only has one component output (which the 360 uses) and it's a pain switching cables. :whistle2:( I need a Component Switcher, but I'm too cheap to get one. :p I heard that it doesn't use the full screen so the image quality doesn't decrease a whole lot, although with my HDTV, if I set the zoom at 2X, it displays like a PS1/PS2 game being playing on my PS3 (which is almost full).

I haven't played handhelds much lately, but I should get back into it this weekend a little.

Different screen? Everything I've read is that the PSP Slim has the exact same scren as the later releases of the bigger PSP.

Because it didn't have a better screen is the main reason I've not even thought about getting a slim. But if it's truly better I might have to check it out. Can anyone else weigh in on that?

Well, part of the reason the screen may appear better for me is because I have a near launch PSP, and from what I heard with the original PSP, the newer models (of the fatter version) had a brighter screen.

My camera doesn't show a lot (due to it being terrible quality), but this is my two side by side:
PSP-2000_2.jpg

Both are on the same brightness settings (the max).

Its the same screen sony said so themselves. I also noticed that the slim can tend to get slightly worse battery life if you dont use one of the old batteries.

With me the psp weight was never a problem the problem with the psp I had was the length. It was just a tad to big tofit in my pocket comfortably.

It might be worth the extra cash to some, but for 170 I will keep my money.

I'm thinking of getting The Witcher next week for pc, but I hear the american release is edited compared to the euro release. I also feel like it is gonna be massively overlooked and thus coud drop in price fast. Any feelings about this one?

I understand the picture is not a good way to judge screen brightness at all, but Mana, those two screens couldn't look more exactly the same to me. ;)

Played Exit for anout 20 minutes last night and ended up watching Meet the Robinsons.

Castlevania should be in today. I also blind pre-ordered The Simpsons last night. Despite it being everywhere, I still haven't even as much as looked at a trailer.

Also I probably get brighter screen setting with custom firmware and such. It can go up to the level of having the thing plugged in.

Once Again:
Homebrew-1
Sony - 0

bah, I meant Castlevania, not Killzone (in my previous post.)

Sucks that video out isn't so hot.

New Retronauts?!?! I've been waiting forever for one...

I picked my copy of PW3 yesterday. I have only finished the 1st case so far, but I think I might end up enjoying it more than the last game... I hope. And I was going to get Castlevania last night but Best Buy didn't have it... So I might try Game Crazy later today when I go out to Hollywood Video, I was thinking of renting Bleach: Shattered Blade or Naruto: Clash of Ninja Revolution.
