I finally got to renting Heavenly Sword today, and my roommate and I played through the whole thing in one go for ~8 hours straight. I thoroughly enjoyed the demo, but I still didn't think I'd like the end product as much as I do. The graphics are jaw-dropping, especially the facial expressions, the gameplay's tight, and the overall presentation is really, really top-class.
It makes me sad to see it didn't sell too well in September, but after all, I also couldn't justify dropping $60 on the game. I've already beaten it and am pretty close to unlocking all the artwork in a single day, albeit thanks to a very long marathon gaming session, which I haven't done in years. Still, I like it enough that I'll probably pick it up when it drops to ~$20 to play through Hell mode, completely unlock everything, and just because it's a game I want to have in my collection.
Playing through it has rejuvenated my hope for the PS3, which recently I've kind of been down on due to my experience with Lair and being pretty high on the Wii/Gamecube lately (I need to find me a Zack and Wiki that comes with the pre-order bonus!). I have Ratchet and Clank coming to me, there's Uncharted in November, I'll pick up Folklore eventually, and I might even check out Haze if that turns out really well, despite normally shying away from console FPS. That, along with the great Wii stuff due in the next two months plus Mass Effect (even pre-ordered the CE of that) and Guitar Hero 3, make me happy to be a gamer in 2007.
