Also online in Ace Combat 6 is awesome. If anyone wants to play be sure to invite me!
Really? Not too laggy? I'll play...still need to take the wrapping off that guy, though.

Yeah, I got a few games this week myself, although only two are "in-hand" right now: Zack & Wiki and Ace Combat 6. EOJ and R&C:Future are still in online mail order limbo land. :p

MarkMan's a journalist, i think? He gets stuff early all the time. Or it's one of those cover art things from E for All that they were giving out.

Zack and Wiki is good. Great puzzles, great visuals. Controls work excellently. If you don't like this game, your heart is as black and cold as your soul.

Nope, haven't hit any noticeable lag yet. The only problem I have with it so far is people who spam the QAAMs. So cheap.
Ratchet and Clank Future is the best next gen game so far says I.

IMO of course so don't flame me :hot:
Finally got rid of the Darkness eh for best game? Lol sad thing is I had no idea it was even out yet, I might pick it up today or something.
No, I thought it was in stores the 30th for some reason. I am usually pretty up to date on game releases as well, especially games I am looking forward too. Surprised I let this one slip by me. I might pick it up today or tomorrow after work. Is it really easy like the demo, or does the challenge pick up?
It was the 23rd, then the 30th, and then at the last minute got pushed back up. Awesomeness. Happened with LAIR too, except that came out on a Friday.

And no, you don't say you "might" pick it up, you go and buy it. NOW.

google ad for this thread: asian girls for marriage ;_;

just playing some Bleach DS...so good.

Well, Mario Galaxy isn't out yet, so that's fair.

I suppose, but one of the reasons I love the R&C games so much aside from the tight gameplay is the humor. I remember Skid McMarx from the first game. Pure Gold

Im realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly interested in this one. Tell me where does it go to in the story line. Ive almost caught back up with the manga.

I just kinda stopped watching the anime after it felt like de be ze.

Whats the fighting like?
lol @ platformers being the best games ever.
Add another "lol" from me.
Fixed.

Hmm... zewone doesn't think a platformer can be the best game ever... and I highly doubt he's inferring an RPG as Rei is. Shit. Looks like it might be one of those damned subjective ideas again.

But for clarity, platformer is the correct answer.
If not platformers then what?
Games of the Third or First person where you shoot people. There really arent enough of those.

The story takes place over the first season. like most anime games, it tells the story with worse writing, no animation, and no coherence, while inserting little side things that make no sense. Not that the story is important.

the fighting is like Guilty Gear and Melty Blood, but more simplified. There's a card system that gives you various temporary power ups. It's really fast, really insane, but not all that deep or balanced. There are some higher level combos and strats to learn though. Most importantly, like a lot of Treasure games, it's just plain fun!
If not platformers then what?
Me personally, I would want something with a moving story, which I've never seen in a platformer (which also rules out puzzle and sports games).
Me personally, I would want something with a moving story, which I've never seen in a platformer (which also rules out puzzle and sports games).
Come'on, Portal! ;)

Having played both Super Mario Galaxy and Rachet & Clank Future: ToD... My heart goes to Super Mario Galaxy.

It's THAT good!
Portal is in it's own category (first person puzzle shooter comedy).
Fair enough. :)

I've never been as surprised by a game in my life as I was with Portal. I went in expecting mind-bending gameplay and ended up with that and way more.

If it wasn't for Mario Galaxy coming soon I'd probably name Portal my game of the year, but I've gotta let the portly plumber weigh in on the scale too.

If I could only have one game for the rest of the year Uncharted would be it. I'll get Mass Effect eventually, but with other November releases not sure I'll be able to afford it.

Not too interested in Dude Raider. Mass Effect looks good. Hopefully it'll get a PC port, there's too much other stuff to play right now...

about 11 hours into blue dragon, still need to finish HL2, still need to finish the SKATE campaign, and have ratchet comin from gamefly.

Is anyone else starting to think that Rock Band might be shit? I mean its losing features left and right and the song set just kinda sucks. Im having second thoughts about this bundle.

Im def gonna get Mass Effect and Uncharted looks pretty good although it needs to differentiate itself from other games more. Tomb Raider im looking at choo.

No, that's Gears of Dude Raider.

Mario Galaxy and Mass Effect are the only things left in the year that's in contention. Portal, Halo 3, Bioshock, Metroid Prime 3 are all contenders as well.

I think Super Mario Galaxy just looks so new and unique. I get the same feeling as when I first saw Mario 64 when I see that game, it just looks so damn fun to just jump around and have fun doing whatever. The way it's using gravity as a gameplay element is awesome too. Ratchet is really just high def ratchet, a series I've never been able to play much of without getting bored, honestly.

Orange Box should get GOTY just because if you were able to buy just one game for the entire year, you'd be crazy to suggest anything else due to the rediculous amount of content in that package.

Shivering Isles is pretty much taking all my time up right now.

I'm also at the part in Jeanne D'arc where you
Get Jeanne back and Liane goes is arrested.

You crazy guys must've forgot about Fighting games, everyone know's they're the best genre. I mean, if you were trapped on a desert island, what would you rather have: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo or Ratchet & Clank? Honestly.

I think Uncharted looks hellaciously gay. Mario Galaxies and Mass Effect both look awesome, but I'll probably Gamefly them.

Call of Duty 4 (360 of course) is the only game I plan on buying for the rest of the year. That always changes though, as I generally cave and buy more games than I want to.

I'm actually thinking about selling my PS2 PS3 (20 GB w/ 6 games downloaded onto it) if anyone is interested. PM me for more details if you want.

Edit: PS3, not 2.

I am probably the only person who isn't hyped up for Mass Effect. It sounds interesting, but the last Bioware game I played, Jade Empire, was trash, IMO. I have a friend that's thinking about buying it, so I'll get to try it without paying for it. If it's great, I'll probably pick it up.

I was surprised by how good Halo 3 was, after not caring for 2. Multiplayer was the only good thing about 2.

As far as the end of the year goes, I'm getting KOF XI, Neo Geo Battle Coliseum, Fire Pro Returns, Phoenix Wright 3, maybe the hellaciously gay Uncharted, Unreal Tourny 3 PC, Gears of War PC, and maybe Crysis.

Back to the Orange Box.

It's being made by Naughty Dog and I'm fairly certain Sony owns them so a PC port probably won't happen.

And it looks way way better than any Tomb Raider ever.
I think he means a PC port for Mass Effect.
Consider me wrong and look as I stealth delete the post so no one ever knows

In any case, doesn't EA have the control to do that now?

Back to the Orange Box.
You're not the only one. I really didn't like KOTOR, Jade Empire, and many of their PC RPGs at all, but this is coming from absolutely hates western RPGs (I'm 100% JRPG exclusive. I'm not fan of Oblivion either). Mass Effect looks nice graphically, but I have zero interests. I much rather buy DDR Universe 2 or Naruto on 360. ;)

Uncharted looks very sweet to me, but the main reason I want it is because Naughty Dog is making it, and I liked every Naughty Dog game too much (I even met a few of the Naughty Dog employees, like Neil, Richard, etc.). Although, my interests for Uncharted isn't as high as other Naughty Dog games in the past because it isn't a platformer or racer (like Jak X, which I really liked).

Do what? A PC port?

If there is not a PC Mass Effect port then I will eat my shoe..... my baked cake-shoe. You can quote me on that.

The good thing about Western RPGs is they aren't stuck in a rut of backwards, game ruining conventions that their hardest core fans will whine about if they're changed.

Imagine if Square or Level 5 made a first person RPG. Or an RPG with the battle system complexity of Ninja Gaiden. Or an RPG that doesn't have battles. People would be up in arms. Insert anime, random battles, statistics, menus, unskippable cinemas, "save the world" plot, stereotypical characters, silent protagonist, and let simmer for 40-60 hours, pull out JRPG.
