Thrift Store Thread 2012
I found steal on a gun in a local dump of a pawn shop. It is an FN Five Seven pistol. This shop couldn't know what they had. It's pistol usually sells for over $1000 used. Tey had it for $370. I talked them down to $240. VERY happy :)
Hah, I used to love that gun in CS.

Sold those DVDs I mentioned earlier on eBay. Spent a little over $15 and Twilight alone covered that cost. A little disappointed in Harry Potter. Had a ton of views and watchers, but only sold for $3.

Just got back home from GoodWill.

NEW Super Mario Bros.U $14.99
Jackie Chan StuntMaster - $5.99
Mega Man Legends - $5.99

Is this spam?

After a bit of a dry spell, my local GW finally had a few good things worth posting about. They got a fresh donation from what must have been a fallen PC gamer, because they had about 20 CIB classic PC games. I only ended up taking four of them, though the temptation was there to get most of them.

All $1/ea:

 • Hellfire (Diable expansion pack)
 • Dungeon Keeper Gold Edition
 • Ace Ventura (Never even seen this one before)
and the granddaddy of them all...
 • Grim Fandango, not only in the original big box, but all shrink wrap still intact, aside from the flap cut on top. Has Travel Guide/Instruction manual with only slight warping and LucasArts Fall 1998 catalog, discs are mint in cardboard case. Looks like the free copy of Day of the Tentacle advertised on the box is missing, unless it is on disc.

Just scored this copy today from Long Beach GoodWill. I'm happy ass heck due to that I'm 4 games from completing my PS1 RPG collection.

MINT COMPLETE Brigandine w/ MAP for $5.99

Whoa! Nice score! Got mine off CL for around $5, no map though :(.
I'd be scouring that whole place looking for other games after that popped up. I suggest going back everyday for the next few days in case they put more out.

man you don't know how long ive been wanting to play this game (die hard strategy RPG GUY).

Thanks I will. This is the same place where I scored the Uncharted 2 dagger at.
If my GW had the new Wii U Game, they would probably charge 20-30 on it. ;__;
Yeah I know. OC GWs like in Westminster, Buena Park, Garden Grove, Huntington Beach, all charge $25 for a wii/ps3/360 game. LA GoodWills have a fixed price (as far as i know) on games - $15 PS3/360/DS/3DS/Wii, the rest $5.99.

I had a really good day at a local thrift today

Conker's Bad Fur Day N64 $4
Super Mario 2 NES $5
Platinum Gamecube $4 I opened it up and it had a copy of Zelda Wind waker in it.
PS2 (disc drive broken) $4

I'd like to keep Conker for the collection but the flip is too good

Holy shit! That is a nice find. I have been looking for a complete copy for years. :applause:

I haven't really gone to check Gardon Grove and Westminster GWs but I can assume. I only went to one near 99 Ranch Market in Buena Park. Mostly Orange and Santa Ana are my areas. They don't charge that price but something similar. Sometimes cheap once in a while, maybe 7.99 or 9.99. Most were 20+ though. I wish they had the fixed price. Maybe the big one in Costa Mesa is fixed.

I know this was in the last page and everyone has pretty much moved on, but wow! A Wii U game at a Goodwill already?! And it's a good one?! My mind is blown right now.

Yeah. This copy came from Target.

Red Tag = Target (clearance/opened items)

Yeah, I was a bit confused about that showing up in a thrift store and then I noticed the red tag. I wasn't terribly surprised about the price, though; I'm assuming they probably have no idea that this is a new game for a new console.

Incredible find nonetheless. I got a few things yesterday.

Two Gamecube controllers (purple and black)- $2.25
Pokemon Colosseum (missing manual)- $2.25
Xbox Silent Hill 4 The Room (complete mint) $5.25

This Goodwill always confuses the hell out of me. Sometimes the games are $2, other times they're $3, and recently they have been marking up PS2 and Xbox games to $5.25. I guess it depends on who's there to mark it. Oh well.

Awesome finds, I always imagine / dream I'll stumble across a copy of MML2 in a GW someday, to make up for the one I sold foolishly years ago...

Only GW finds I had this weekend were:
:ps2: Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, complete, good condition $2.50
:wii: Balance Board, official Nintendo version, $6.50
Genesis Super Battleship, cartridge only, $0.50

I've been meaning to find a cheap Genesis game to test the console I got a couple of months ago, and for some reason I have had a hard time coming up with any Genesis games for awhile at local GWs.

Stopped at the North Versailles Goodwill Outlet (watch out sp00ge... I'm getting closer ) today.
Only picked up a few things, mainly a vintage Omnikey Ultra keyboard and a Ninja Gaiden III Tiger hand held (I went with someone else and they got a ton of crap though, so I got my stuff dirt cheap).

Would 1 Sports Champions Move Bundle and 4 Medieval Moves/SC Move Bundles for $30 apiece be flip worthy? These are at a local Target btw, not a thriftstore.

I used to go to the outlet every day, but haven't gone in months. I go every few months or so now. The regular "resident" customers are just too crazy and too territorial anymore, plus lat time I was there you couldn't even get a shopping cart, thanks to said "residents." And by resident, I mean the people that get literally stay there from open to close and have 5-6 carts full of stuff.

In addition, when I was still a regular there, they started pulling the really good stuff to list online, leaving mostly junk. It was just one more nail in the coffin.

Now, you stay the hell away from the North Huntingdon GW. That's my store! ;)

Yeah, when we got there all the carts were in use. I end up having to grab one just as someone was leaving.
And there were dozens of carts lined up on the walls with blankets over them with people's names on paper slips while the owners took naps in their cars. Ridiculous.

I saw them pulling stuff at the Whitehall store for online today... Really explains why I haven't found anything there in years.

We probably would've went out to the North Huntingdon GW, had we not gotten to the outlet so late (it was only 4, but we had been out since 9 and it took a good 2+ hours to get home (shouldn't have went home via Lebanon Church, there's tons of traffic a bit south of Century III (I guess it's actually Curry Hollow there...) due to construction)).

Although, I was damned tempted to run up there the other day when you said you left some boxed PC games... They're my weakness.
Speaking of that... You ever go to the computer store they have in Lawrenceville? I was reading they have games there and was wondering if their prices were reasonable.

Oh, and I actually saw a GB E Merger (Game Boy backup thing) system thing in a bin... I was tempted to pick it up, just for a curiosity, but said screw it.

Picked up RE: COde veronica, RE 2, and crazy taxi all for dreamcast today. Not too fabulous at $2 each, but couldn't resist as I haven't found much lately.

I was able to haggle the thrift store employee since I offered to buy all the N64 games instead of cherry picking. So instead of me taking their best four games for $8 I got all nine games for $11. I might try this again.

All the games cleaned up nicely.

At another store.

Saw a stack of SNES games for the first time in forever.....all sports except "Joe and Mac". Didnt have a sticker on it (shouldve been $3) so the girl says "how much are these" and the girl who's worked there for a few months was like "uhhhh idk....50 cents?". So after tax I paid 54 cents for it.

Not a great weekend at GW, a non 50% off Saturday, but sometimes I find good things that wouldn't last until the sale. Picked up :ps2: Midway Arcade Treasures (first print run label), complete, near-new condition for $5, which is pretty much the online asking price right now. Luckily it had an official Magic Gate 8 MB PS2 Memory card in there as well, so I figure together it was worth it.

November was kinda empty for Thrift stores around here but here's what I found back in October

102_0773.jpg

I had no idea Xcom was rare when I picked it up, almost passed on it and the others too. I ended up grabbing them all, I think I have a weakness for the longboxs.

November:

And this passed week:
102_0770.jpg

Assassin's Creed 3 was $20, Pokemon Black 2 was $10 and both were marked DEF SAL from target. They both work so I don't know whats wrong with them. I also found a sealed copy of Portal 2 for $10 this morning just haven't gotten time to take pictures with finals this week.

102_0748.jpg

New carpet!

today's finds:

NES advantage $3
Original Xbox console only with the xecutor2 chip installed for $13, it works fine as a normal xbox except the disc tray has to be opened with a paperclip.

Playstation Move charger stand, looks like it was opened but never used- $6

And a little brag story- Made about $200 profit on the 9 copies of Kingdom Hearts 3D and the 3 PS3 Deadmunds Quest Move Bundles I picked up from Targets bargin shelf!! Ill be checking there more often!

Found some goodies today for $5 each:

Suikoden - no manual
FF7- no manual
Tail of the Sun - cib
Azure Dreams - no manual

And all the discs are in near perfect condition!
Found a sealed PS2 Taiko Drum Master for $7. Havent opened it up, looks interesting.
I have that game, pretty fun, although the track selection is limited (some public domain tracks in there).

No pics but this week I found:

Earthworm Jim 2 (genesis): 1.00
NBA Jam (genesis): 1.00

Left For Dead 2 (360): 10.00
Mario Party 5: 2.99
Zelda Collectors Edition: 2.99
Vigilante 8 2nd Offense (n64): 1.99
Star Wars Shadows of the Empire: 1.99
Conkers Bad Fur Day: 1.99

Another slow weekend, only things I picked up were two :wii: white nunchucks for $1.50 each. Needed some cleaning, but they look and work great now.

Also just curious, though I have been shopping GW for about 3-4 years now, I never paid attention to the frequency of finds after the holidays (people donating their older games / systems), anyone ever notice a correlation in years past?
