TNA iMPACT! - Gen. Discussion & Info.

iMPACT! packs behind the scenes videos and six TNA matches (four that are exclusive to the PS3

Looks like midway was able to squeeze in four matches on the ps3 version but that wont make up for the graphics/gameplay issues and lack of voice support

I think a lot of people forget that this will be the last Smackdown game. THQ has SvR 09, and WWE Legends of Wrestlemania (which should be avoided due to the fact that Vince McMahon was so pissed off at Mick Foley going to TNA that he ordered him taken out of the fucking game!), and that's it.
Soooo we should boycott Legends of Wrestlemania, because Vince took a TNA talent out of the game, one who only had one Wrestlemania moment and that was like only three years ago?

So will you boycott Impact since they took out Jeff Hardy and Monty Brown? I mean they were both originally in the first build of the game and they have since been obviously removed.

But that's different, right?
TNA doesn't, or atleast didn't used to, have DQ either - so no DQ would actually make sense.
They have DQ, hell they even have the absurd concept of Titles changing hands on a DQ. This is how Abyss managed to take the World Strap from Sting.
It's just TNA, it's fine to miss... you are actually doing yourself a favor by missing it.

Oh, and trust me, it's not you, it's 100% TNA fault - oh no, wait, I mean Vince Russo.
Wish Russo would just go away. For good.

Foley had quite a few WM moments. Off the top of my head:

1) Him & Chainsaw Charlie Vs NAO in a Tag Team Dumpster Match

2) Vs Big Show for the chance to Ref the ME. Not to mention him counting the fall in the ME itself at WM15

3) Fatal 4-Way at WM2000

4) The reunion of the Rock 'n Sock Connection Vs Evolution at WM20

5) Vs Edge in a match that solidified Edge as a ME-level star at WM22 (or was it 23?)

Like someone else said then, their DQ rules always come and go, because for quite awhile, probably a year or two ago, they constantly had no DQ on everything.

And yeah, almost everywhere will have it "shipping" today, you'll see it in stores tomorrow (I was told this by many stores today).

LEGENDS, princess. LEGENDS. It's supposed to be an all old-school game.

But, hey, spend your money the way your want. Lap up the WWE branded merchandise like a true fan.
Really, when you consider how shoddy the game is in and of itself, slowdown and clipping are nothing.

It's like complaining about "sharp knees" on a woman who looks like Dom DeLuise.
I was talking more about PS3 games in general. It seems like a lot of PS3 games have some sort of problem that the 360 doesn't, when the games should be virtually identical.

I want a sequel to WCW Backstage Assault. That game was so bad it was good.
In all honesty, I think the engine will be okay (though nothing like the AKI engine like some have said), but the lack of, well, everything will severely hurt the replay and general value. At very least, the game looks pretty. Let's all applaud pretty. ;)
That's exactly what I think. I'm trying to decide still if I want it or not. It would be a complete no but the engine looks good. :)

Hell no.

Ea made a horrible decision with that game. Sure i still got it eventually and it had a large roster but it looked like complete ass.

Instead of building up on their semi-decent wcw mayhem then went to shit with backstage assault. And of course we never got to see that cancelled ps2 wcw game when vince bought wcw

I really liked the game though. Something about bashing a sink over a guys head and then it disappearing was hilarious. Everything was bad about that game, but I still enjoyed it.

So because Foley isn't in the game, then we should all boycott the game sunshine?

If you were going to make that argument, you should have at LEAST gone for the Macho Man argument.

Macho Man > Mick Foley

Tried it out today.. I had fun with the first match. Everything flowed together nicely, the animation is good, the commentary is spot on and instantaneous (they don't say what you did four or five seconds after you did it).. the commentary seems a bit more Don West more than anyone else, which sucks. The second match, however, seemed like I was playing the first match again.

Oh, and in Ultimate X, how the fuck do you climb up and shimmy across the ropes to get the X? I was playing as AJ Styles and I climbed the turnbuckle.. the instruction book says to move the left stick around. I did that, and AJ turned three quarters of the way around and acted like he was going to jump up and grab the rope to climb across, then spun back around towards the ring. WTF?

Well, I didn't know about Macho Man being pulled from LoW until today.

So let me make that argument.

fuck that game: they pulled Foley and Savage.

Happy now?

Or would you like to continue to make grandiose misinterpretations of what I say, like taking "spend your money the way you want" to imply "we should all boycott the game"?

Personally, FOLEY> Macho Man

But this is coming from somebody who has read all his books and enjoys them.

Gonna rent this at Block Buster on friday how ever.

Picked this up today. Hopefully I'll get a chance to play later tonight.

It's been a while since I played a wrestling game and have been wanting one as fun as WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain. I didn't care for all the Smackdown/RAW games.
It's been a while since I played a wrestling game and have been wanting one as fun as WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain.
Keep wanting..

TNA is a amazing. It don't have a ton of features or moves, but it's still great. It's so well polished and plays smoothly. Much better than all of the SDvsR games.
It's been a while since I played a wrestling game and have been wanting one as fun as WWE Smackdown: Here Comes The Pain.
That was always my favorite as well. TNA gives it a run for its money. Would beat it if it had more characters and more moves.
The engine really feels like the first next gen wrestling game to come along.
Oh, and in Ultimate X, how the fuck do you climb up and shimmy across the ropes to get the X?
Once your on the turnbuckle, hold LB & hit B.

is there really no demo for this? I'm very curious given I love TNA but I really don't want to get hosed on a 60 dollar game :/.
glad to read some pplz here like it. guess it will get my rental from blockbuster/hollywood vid in a couple days
Honestly, it is really good. I was thinking about not getting it because of all the negative attention its getting online. But the good really outweights the bad.
It's not extremely advanced but its just a good basic fun wrestling game, especially on Multiplayer. I'm not that far into the single player but the story seems kinda crazy. Still decent though, and like I said before Multiplayer is great fun.

EDIT: I'm not a TNA mark whatsoever, i'm giving a unbiased opinion of both games.

I always prefer quality over quantity in every videogame and i think that's what TNA has to offer.
Don't get me wrong, it was a kick in the balls for every wrestling fan, giving us limited movesets, 25 wrestlers and certainly only "1 gimmick match"(where the hell is Six Sides of Steel, King of the Mountain, Lethal Lockdown, etc.)

So I prefer not to talk shit about this game (or any other) when I haven't even play it.
Bottom line, I think TNA is a great 2nd. choice, after being let down every freakin year with the Smackdown vs Raw series, a perfect example of quantity but not that much of quality, you have a lot of gimmick matches, a bunch of superstars, but still the gameplay is sloppy and shitty as hell.
Anyways, I still don't own Impact, so I'll stop praising it until i finally get it.

havin fun with the game..so relieving to play a non wwe game..

theres definitely some potential..

things id like to see next year so far.

1. full entrances
2. more moves + more move situations (reverse grapples etc)
3. better caw with preview

lb + b gets you up on the ropes... then just move toward the x and press b near it to start the "timing" mini game

. the match is pretty fun..

Honestly, I had low expectations, and this game blew them out of the water. I'm really enjoying it so-far.

To me, this seems kind of like Def Jam mixed with No Mercy mixed with DoR. The only thing I don't like, is the lack of moves, but the matches themselves are very fun, especially in multiplayer. I honestly prefer this over SD right now, atleast 08.

I'd say to anyone on the edge about it, go out and rent it, and be sure to GIVE IT A FEW MATCHES. I didn't like it that much in the first match or two, but once I started to learn how to play, I started to really like it.

Edit: The Ultimate X match is also very well-done, I've already had alot of fun Ultimate X matches with a few friends.

Anyone have the list of matches from the Gamestop bonus DVD? I want to see if it's worth trying to get the DVD off EBay since I won't be buying the game until it goes clearance at Target or I get it on Goozex. Thanks in advance.

Not much on it.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Match #1: First Match in TNA History"

June 19th, 2002 - AJ Styles, Senshi, and Jerry Lyn Vs. The Flying Elvises

"Match #2: An Early Days Tag Team Brawl"

July 3rd, 2002 - Jeff Jarret & The Truth vs. Scott Hall & Brian Christopher

"Match #3: Super X Cup Finals"

September 3rd, 2003 - Chris Sabin vs. Juventud Guerrera

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The rest on the DVD, is just "behind the scenes" footage from the making of the game.

Remember there is DLC. My biggest wish for DLC is more moves. And also I want grapples from behind. Idk if it will happen though, I would say no but I don't really know how Midway is as a company, haven't really been following em.
Edit: The Ultimate X match is also very well-done, I've already had alot of fun Ultimate X matches with a few friends.
Me too, I've done quite a few with my nephews. That seems to be the most popular mouse in my house hold so far.

Is Senshi one of the unlockable wrestlers? I thought that they had removed him since he left a while ago.
Is Senshi one of the unlockable wrestlers? I thought that they had removed him since he left a while ago.
He doesn't seem to be, although I haven't completed the game yet. I should have it completed sometime tomorrow, but it doesn't look like he will be (I'll let you know for sure then).
i wonder when they will release the dlc.. cmon curry man! better have intro songs..
I don't think it would be possible to put him in without his music. ;)
Might cause some kinda of catastrophic world ending event.

I just want to thank CAG for getting me the info on this game before I blew $55 of my Amazon gift certificates on it. I just played through it at a friends and I cant believe how bad this is. They really have no clue as to what people want in a wrestling game. Very much like Backyard Wrestling titles.

Oh, Benny and Lenny the ICP ripoff clowns and Bruiser Belicio are unlockables... Seriously why waste the space on fake guys like this. Ugh.

Well the online is starting to go down hill. I had a ton of fun playing online against random people last night. Then tonight, I had 2 guys quit on me right as I was about to win.

One was a standard match, on the count of 2, I get the message saying "Your Opponent has paused the game" followed by, "Your Oppoenent has quit"

Then I had a really good submission match which was a lot of fun, must have been atleast 15 mins, maybe 20.

After that I was in a ultimate X match, I had to hit the green 1 more time to win, we were both on top and I knocked him
down then pushed B to grab the X, and get those 2 messages again.
It drives me crazy how some people are such sore losers and don't want to hurt their score.:whee:

I hope they fix it so that If you quit, you lose the match and the other person wins.

Yeah Senshi's in the game, read that you gotta get 200,000 style points to get him. Are the movesets for every wrestler locked down or can you edit them?

Yeah, just found that out aswell, just came here to post that, haha.

You can only edit the moveset of your CAW, there are no options for editing any actual member of the in-game roster.
What's the CAW like?
CAW is pretty run of the mill, better than a lot but not as good as SDvsR. As stale as those games were getting, you gotta admit it did have a really good CAW.
That's lousy about online play. I thought that penalizing droppers was a common thing now.
Yeah I thought so too, but I went to my leaderboard and my W/L record was the same as it was before the match, so it just voids the match when someone drops out.

I was able to rent the game, and seriously how do you beat robert rude in story mode... I swear I hit him with everything, and bam he hits me with a finisher, and it is over. I finally beat him. How annoying. I think the game is decent I guess it isn't all that great, and lacks alot as most people have said. Only thing that bothers me is the punches/kicks are almost all the same, and the moves. Also just chairs outside seems odd.

Still having fun with the game.. the story mode is getting hard... it too me a few times to beat lax and mmg. (damn midway and their arcade ai roots)

The PS2, PS3, and 360 versions combined sold about 96,000 copies worldwide in the first week (26K, 30K, 40K respectively).

Based on the "Stranglehold curve" (an arbitrary designation I've made for the standards necessary for a quick drop in price), this is well on its way to being a $20 title before Thanksgiving.

When does your curve say it should it be around $10? I can't see spending any more than that on this game.
