I've had a moment to think it over and I went a little overboard on my initial response. I know it is your opinion of a movie Tiphireth, but being a veteran I take this to heart. I've seen the heartache of losing a comrade or seeing some guys wife/girlfriend

ing "Jody". This movie lets the masses see what soldiers go through, granted everyone has problems, but in wartime those problems are amplified. I respect your opinion I just felt that I needed to speak on behalf of people who have been there. If you want to know how it is to be a soldier in Iraq, even right now, you need to see this movie. Sorry again Tiphireth
No problem, but don't get me wrong- I have the utmost adoration and respect for our soldiers. You don't need to speak on their behalf, I'm fully cogniscent of how they feel. Anyone who knows me knows that I adore our soldiers and civil servants at home;
this review was hardly meant to cast any sorts of disparages upon them. I'd like to take the time to point out that if you haven't read any of whoknows's reviews, mine would seem pretty harsh. Anyway, back to the movie. I can understand, as I said, that the movie was representing the troubles that the soldiers go through in Iraq.
The problem for me is, I thought that the film would be an action flick- something more akin to Over There than a drama detailing exclusively the problems that a soldier faces. But that was a misunderstanding on my part. But even then, there were some parts that I found distasteful, such as when the main character is jerking off on the shitter; when they enact the gay orgy scene for the news cameras; as well as the ending where they're firing off the four SAWs that the
scout sniper battalion suddenly procured. The death of the spotter at the end went unexplained, as well as the problems with the main character's sister. I'd also like to protest their ripping off of Full Metal Jacket when the main soldier goes after the grenadier for lighting the flare truck ablaze.
