Now read this essay to change your perception of the entire film.

Fascinating read. And it does make quite a bit of sense, since, you know, it is a David Lynch film.

My sister rented Charlie and the Chocolate Factory in our hotel room. I have to say, with one exception, that one completely blew the 70's edition out of the water. Namely because of the lack of singing. The problem: Willy 'Michael Jackson' Wonka. Johnny Depp was not nearly as creepy as Gene Wilder, although he had a couple of funny moments.

I also saw about 45 minutes of Scarface. I need to buy that, it was my favourite movie for the longest time.

You need to die. :bomb:

Putting that aside, why were you in a hotel room with your sister? Is there something ... untoward going on? ;)

Tiph, you set yourself up for this question. Didn't take too long after your post for it to come out.

beavis and butthead do america- i love this movie

In the middle of Cardcaptor Sakura: the Movie, going to finish it tonight. Then to start season 2 of the television show :)

I was on vacation with my family, dammit. :bomb:

The Devil's Rejects. Man what a turd of a film that was. If I heard the F word one more time in that movie, I was going to scream. The overuse of that word annoyed the piss out of me. The F word is fine and dandy, but come on you don't have to use it 20 times in one sentance in each piece of dialog. The acting was terrible too. BLEH.

Monsieur Verdoux

Another great Chaplin classic, different from the other films I've seen of his, for better in some ways and worse in others, but still absolutely essential viewing.

Little Caesar

Alright early gangster flick. Edward G. Robinson is great, but the rest of the film feels pretty dated and rather uninteresting.

Exorcist the Beginning, after watching this and Dominion: Prequel to the Exorcist, I'd say Dominion is the better film overall and had a more fluid narrative in telling the story. Though Renny Harlin's version of the film had some good moments, but was ultimately more disjointed and sily. Neither of them are much above par though, they should have just released Dominion and cut their losses instead of reshooting a new version.
I saw The Jerk last night. "I was born a poor black child."
What's sad is that movie went straight downhill after that. I hated The Jerk.

Dark City

A modern sci-fi classic, a great story and some outstanding visuals all moving along at a breakneck pace. Loved it.
Shopgirl

Wasn't bad... though it IS still a chickflick... which is only made up by the fact that Claire Danes gets nekkid.
I did not know that. Wonder when the DVD comes out ... :whistle2:k ;)

The Big Lebowski

Yes it does get better with repeated viewings. Great and hilarious, wonderfully bizarre and undeniably a Coen brothers film, a work of twisted genius.

Peeping Tom

A fantastic masterpiece of a film, it's disturbing, superbly acted, suspenseful, and a fascinating take on the voyeurism of movies.

The new Harry Potter.

I'm not a big fan but my date was so it was more or less her call but I got a good night out of it so it was a small price to pay. Though, with all the teen/preteen girls there, it was close to being a big price. I should've probably brought subbie as that would've kept the girls in line.

It's a crazy movie weekend.

First, I rented American Psycho again. Man, that movie rocks so hard. I'm buying this next week along with Scarface. I've pretty much memorized the scene with Patrick and Allen, I've watched it so many times. 'Is that a raincoat?' 'Yes it is!'

Mad Mad Mad Mad World, Staurday night- I really didn't find it very funny, so I stopped watching it about a third of the way through.

This morning, Harry Potter, the new one. Nothing really to complain about, it is Harry Potter. Of course, it was made bearable by Emma Watson and Bonnie Wright.

And I'm about to go see a late showing of Good Night and Good Luck. :D

Looks like you've been hanging out with Subbie...

Saw 2 for me. Not bad; I'll pick up the DVD when it hits and hopefully BB offers a 2 for $20 deal on it or such. Plus, the fact that I got to see it for free at the movies made it a bit better. :)
