TOOL 10,000 Days--Album Titles Meaning--Tour dates--Lyrics--Discuss

If you couldn't score tickets to Tool's upcoming club shows, don't worry -- frontman Maynard James Keenan says those dates are just warm-up gigs. "We're doing a full-on tour at the end of the summer which goes almost everywhere," the singer promises. "And in the new year, we'll go almost everywhere else." Keenan adds the following piece of advice about price-gouging scalpers: "Don't buy the tickets from them. Just wait until August. Screw them."
I don't know about the rest of you, but I'll be there.

I haven't liked the new disc like I thought I would, but I can say that I've seen well over 50 bands live and Tool is the best. They're the only band that I can honestly say sounds better live then on CD, it's an incredible show.

I reread the Guitar World interview, and Adam Jones talked about a song where he used a Talk Box on it called "Those Shoes." That is not one of the titles in the OP. Does anyone know the deal with that? Did the name get changed? Just some fuel to throw in the fire.

Ok, so back in 01 my cousin had an extra ticket to see Tool in Philly. He gave it to me and I went, never hearing anything by Tool before that night. In my opinion, the show was complete garbage. They were very boring on stage, I could barely see them, and they played a lot of really mellow songs that almost put me to sleep. After that night, I never wanted to listen to Tool... until tonight.

Because of what everyone on here was saying about the new album I figured what the hell, I'll download it and give these guys a chance. All I have to say is WOW. This cd is really great. I'm very surprised that I liked it as much as I did, although I'm not into Maynard's voice much. I'll have to get used to it. Also, being a bass player, Tool is a great band for hearing great bass riffs apparently.

In the end, this cd has opened up a new musical door for me. Shit, I gotta go buy their other cds now, along with this one of course. I think most of them are on sale this week.

It seems that everyone who listens to Tool has something stand out to them. Drums, guitar, bass, vocals ... it just depends on the listener.

If you're going to get into Tool I think it's important to start off with their first album and work your way up. There has been a progression in their music that you can really see by starting at the beginning. I don't think it's essential to start with Opiate, but definitely Undertow, then Aenima, then Lateralus.

With that being said, their albums have gotten better each time. I haven't listened to their new album (i'm waiting until tuesday), but i'm hoping this one can top Aenima.

That's a good set-list. Kind of sucks that there's only one song from Undertow. I can't wait to hear the new songs tomorrow. The only record store in my area is a Sam Goody, and I'll be damned if I pay $18.99 for the cd. I might have to make a 20 mile road trip to get it at BB for $9.99. Maybe gas prices will screw me over, but at least i'll have some time to listen to the album in my car.

I can't wait for tomorrow!

If you haven't heard Lateralus, AEnima and Undertow definitely check those out first.

I have mine pre-paid at Sam Goody for $11.99. I saw the cd yesterday just sitting there behind the counter. The cashier wouldn't just give it to me, though. I can't wait. I get out of class at 11AM, and I'm heading straight there to pick it up.

Argh !
I can't stand this. I gotta go get it NOW !
Oh well, I'm forwarding the work line to my cell. It's sometimes better to beg for forgiveness rather than ask permission to leave.

I am envious of anyone who gets to listen to the new cd in the next 7.5 hours. I have to wait until 4:45 or so, when I leave work...

You are too kind. You should call me at work and I could listen to it over the speaker phone.

Yeah I'm in the same boat. I should have it in my hands at about 4.

I stuck the 10,000 days tool sticker from the shrink wrap on the back window of my truck. Now I see "tool" everytime I look out my rearview mirror.
Tool always has the best album packages in the world.
I hate that I have to wait to see them after they come back from Europe.

I've only listen to the first three songs and all I could think about is how complex this album is so far. I'm having trouble wrapping my head around the music. It's difficult yet sublime. I don't know, it's gotten to me a weird way. I'll go back to listening to the rest.

I'm mixed on the album after the first time through. Lateralus is my favorite album and this one doesn't seem to come close YET. Hopefully after a few more play throughs it will grow on me.
So is the new cd as good as Lateralus??? I'm hearing some mixed reviews...
It's very different, well some songs are. For some reason I can't explain it. I wasn't expecting some of the music I've heard. The last few songs are amazing, though, as is 10,000 Days. The only song that I was somewhat meh on was 'The Pot'. It was like 'Ticks & Leeches' for me, a song that I can listen to but can't really get into.

new album is pretty good, im listening to it at work so i cant really absorb the music but it is quite kick ass, the ride home is going to be quite nice :D

the packaging is very cool tooi cant wait to see them live again
i saw them in NYC soon after 9-11
crazy show indeed.........
last song they played was aenima and it was incredible.

taken from wiki:

"He worked on a salad dressing commercial (it was never aired), Olympic stain (Albert Einstein makeups), Duracell (Boxers and Taxi cabs), Terminator 2, Dances With Wolves, Jurassic Park, Nightmare on Elm Street Part 5 (He did the Freddy Krueger in the womb makeup), Predator 2 (The Predators' Space Ship) and Ghostbusters 2."
I really like "Rosetta Stoned".
Me too. Probably my favorite song off the album after Vicarious.

Well, I just listened to "10,000 Days" and "Jambi". They're even better than "Rosetta Stoned". I am totally loving the artwork and cd case with the theatre glasses attached. What a unique idea.

OK, I finally bought the CD last night and the packaging totally sucks. The lenses are neat I guess but I looked at everything once and I will probably never look again. Now I'm stuck with the most awkward CD case ever that looks like shit on my shelf.
