Immense gratitude to Shrike4242 for updating this thing while I was away!!!

This is an odd one.....

Basically the gist is that Toys R Us is reducing its inventory by 20% by marking down over 6,000 skns from it's inventory, most of which are toys. There are however roughly 300 or so video games/accesories that will be a part of this clearance. As of 7/11 all have been marked down from 30-50%. TRU is seeking to aggressively move these skns out of its stores. So if these games have not sold in roughly a months time they will be marked down again...a month later, again.....and so on until it's gone. So if you're the gamblin' type I suppose you could hold out for cheaper prices. Prices seem to be good everywhere, though there may be some variance in prices between stores.

Everything that is a part of this sale is on a 3 week cycle, meaning that every three weeks any items remaining in the stores will receive another price drop. Seeing as how these prices went into effect on the 11th of July we should be seeing them all drop again on the 1st of August.

The only caveat here being that retail is an odd beast that can be subject to change. So basically there is another price drop coming that in all likelihood will happen on the 1st so check back on the than to see what's up.

Man, if I wasn't out of work right now I would have bought more. They also had We Love Katamari for the PS2 and Fire Emblem for the Gamecube. I really wanted those but I had to restrain myself.

I didn't even think to look for the Mega Man X collection game. Damn....

Oooh Katamari is on my list too, but I haven't seen that anywhere. The nice part about my new job could be the opportunity to check out stores across the USA. Of course the first week I'll just be job shadowing, so I probably won't have the chance to make it anywhere I want to go.

They have a few Taiko Drum Masters at my TRU for $19.99 last time I went. I bought one a week ago at Sears for $4.99. If I bring my Sears receipt to TRU will they price match the $4.99?

No. TRU doesn't do price matches.
 
Any updates coming this Monday? :)

I'm surprised there haven't been further reductions already; much of the stuff at my TRU hasn't moved...a few of the desirable games like Doom 3 CE and Psychonauts etc sold when the sale first started, but since then nothing seems to have moved, there are still plenty of titles sitting on the shelves. Anyway, when (if?) a new markdown happens, are the games going to go down to 50% off? Is there a usual pattern that TRU does?
 
Man, my closest TRU has like 5000 copies of both Psychonauts and Doom 3. But no frickin Fire Emblem, Mega man collection, or Castlevania Double-Pack. Argggggh.

Yeah, they are available in Japan, but I'm actually in Seattle for the summer. Heading back to Kyoto on the 15th of this month. Place your import orders now folks. :cool:

It's from an old US T.V. show that exposed supernatural activities or something. I remember watching it when I was a kid, think it was called "That's Incredible!" Basically what happened was kind of monotonous, after a patron shut the faucet off in a Toys 'R' Us restroom, the faucet would keep turning back on... implying supernatural activity! But a boring one.

That's one of the games that is YMMV in price unfortunately. I saw it for $26.98 at one TRU and I saw it for $29.98 at another TRU.

most of the worthwhile stuff was done in the first week. anything after that is a huge YMMV situation as it's unlikly that most stores have those in stock at all or even have had them for months.

I went to the TRU in Timesquare before the markdown even started and they'd long since gotten rid of their FF11 HDDs and hardly anything else of any note had been effected or if it had the priced hadn't lowered enough to make them any more palletable to buy.

My TRU still has one Plantronics Halo2 headset left for $9.98 that I can pick up if anyone wants one.

There were still a couple HDDs in the White Plains TRU. Let me know if you'd like to work something out.

Yeah, I think I saw a few of those the other day - just check the regular shelf at CC (not the clearance bin, though they may still be in there as well). It seems many CC's were pretty bad marking down and "binning" the GBA/DS games (to our benefit).
 
I picked up a copy of the Castlevania double pack today. I was up in Minnesota for the Vikings game and went to a local TRU and picked up the last copy. I was pretty happy since my local TRU didn't have it and AoS was the only GBA Castlevania game I didn't own.

Thanks for the offer but dont sweat it. If I were really that pressed for a second HDD the White Plain TRU isn't too far from my house. But as it stands I'm low on cash and I still have about 80gb on a 250gb drive that I use for my HDadvance. My urge to buy it before was more of an impulse to try and com away from this "deal" with something instead I ended up with a 10 dollar Ride Or Die.

I guess I could count myself somewhat lucky... :p

Picked up Sonic Adventure DX - $10
Saw Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes - $10, but declined as I already have it. The next day my friend said he bought it :p It was weird.
Also, saw Meteos (DS) - $15.
 
I got two copies of Doom 3 CE for $10 each (all they had). One for me and one for my friend. They had an old 3 month subsrciption to XBL but they wanted $19.99 for it... I am still pretty happy with doom 3 though...

Update:
I went to a different TRU today and got an old XBL starter kit for $29.99

And an XBLA disc that installs Ms. Pacman (I havent tried it yet but I think it only works on the original xbox)
 
TRU next to Arden Fair Mall in Sac, CA has Donkey Konga (w/) for 29.99, and a truck load of Syphon Filters and Twisted Metal III for 4.98 (wow. yay.).
