Transformers ROTF: Makes 600 Million worldwide...GI JOE to top it next... :|

Saw it last night and was not impressed. I don't even mind the argument that it's about robots smashing things up because I didn't care for a deep story. What bothered me was some of the good robots (the two idiots that were an ice cream truck in the beginning), evil robots looked the same, I'm not a fan of the cartoon so aside from Megatron, Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee I had no idea who was who. Sam's mom is very annoying and the guy with the website doesn't do anything in the actual fights if I remember correctly so why was he along for the ride? Lastly the movie was too long. Oh and the Matrix key thing turning into sand and then after Sam is revived by love or older Primes it turns back into the key WTF?

I dont really going to say a lot about this. It was trash that barely needs to be mentioned. This is what happens when Bay directs a movie with the parental guidance of Jerry Bruckheimer or Steven Spielberg..

I thought the 2 black robots were decently funny. The only thing I didnt like was that Bay focused on them so much without giving the other Transformers any deep lines. I also didnt get why they had to have gold teeth and floppy ears.

I still dont really get the Megan Fox thing...she is hot but not fall out of my chair hot. But her acting skills are fucking horrid so every scene with her began mind boggling annoying.

There are so many plot holes that its not even worth it to go through them. I read somewhere that there were 40 plus Transformers in this one. I cant even remember more than a handful outside of the main guys because Bay didnt even make a attempt to introduce anyone. I guess we were suppose to already know who they are despite the fact that Bay changes the look of certain ones so drastically its impossible to separate.

Lastly...for having your name in the title you sure didnt do anything Fallen. I guess sitting on your ass takes a lot of energy, maybe if he was practicing he wouldnt have got his ass kicked within 5 seconds of standing up.

Bah.
EDIT: Oh, Thanks Bay for fucking up Devastator. He transformation sequence lasted longer than he did.
Are you one of those people that are always right or do I like punishment?

1. My parents had a small house fire and even though the insurance was paying for the room they still complained about the price. Some parents complain no matter what.

2. Just because they don't show Megatron warpping there is no way he could have?

3. So if Beast Wars and G1 are not to be used as refference then why are we fighting over protoforms in sacs?

Can someone tell me why when Devestator is shot he doesn't just turn into back into the Constructicons? They might have shot a hole through one of them but that would not kill them all.
00. Nah. Just like playing devil's advocate--- just like you.

Won't touch on the points, but wanted to add that Devastator getting shot and and splitting, but not having the single robots work seemed odd as well to me.

IDTEFX, can you post a spoilers ahead warning in your title?

I came to see if was worth taking off work to see early and notice plot points being discussed liberally.

Note: Not complaining, just didn't realize they were being discuss openly so quickly upon release

Sorry Paddlefoot.... I think LinkinPrime started it when he started talking about the story without spoilers.

Anyways serious yo it's not really worth losing money from work to see it.

Spoilers?? Plot Points??

You've seen the commercials, now imagine 2 hours of that... that's all the spoilers you need.

Robots fight, fight some more, Fox looks amazing in some small clothing, repeat 3 times.

I have a feeling that every one that's hating on this movie is an effect of all the early bad reviews that were coming up...really seems like every one's just going with the flow. It's like if I saw a different film than every else...I loved it!

i liked it too... your typical blockbuster movie... Im not exactly a hardcore transformers fan so that may be why i dont know or care of the "small" things. It tried a lil too hard though to be funny at times but the action and fighting scenes were top notch. I also liked that most of the original cast was back.

I dunno Linkin......you seem to be either part of the Generation who DIDN'T Grow up watching the original G1 series or just part of the Generation that thinks Michael Bay's sense of humor is funny. I say about 98% of the people watching it during opening week was part of the Generation that loves Michael Bay.

The only things I enjoyed about this movie is Prime's voice/acting and the special effects.

Being overloaded with too much sexual innuendo from the start was a turn off for me.

I just realized something.... If the Allspark had the location of the Sun Machine... then why didn't Megatron figure it out as he obsorbed 99% of it during the first movie?

Will I see it again? Yes I will, but after the opening week crowd dies down. Perhaps my opinion will go from Ok to "it wasn't that bad, but not great either"

Now they are saying R2D2 is in the movie?!?! eh??!?!

I really wished to have seen a Trailer attached to Prime in his truck mode.

No Peter Cullen Cameo as some people thought...

No Lenard Niemo Voice Cameo either :( Oh well

Yeah, that's exactly it. We're all agreeing with reviewers because we're unable to form our own opinions.

The movie was shit.

The glaring plot holes/pacing/issues really overshadows everything unfortunately.

The dialogue was simply terrible. The military guys were actually interesting and relevant in the first movie; was there any need for them at ALL in this one? Did they have one meaningful line in the whole movie?

Theres a whole army of new decepticons, most of which aren't even named and might as well be black ninjas, and the call for the surviving autobots gets...sideswipe, arcee, and the twins. really?

And after this movie, why do I give a shit about any of them? And why do i give a shit about Ratchet and Ironhide, considering they apparently had much better things to do during the movie than be on screen and play a part in the story?

I still dont understand why there were two sets of Constructicons, but I think it would been much better had there been one, they formed Devastator, then after the shot the reverted back into individuals and continued fighting.

I also have a problem with the "transforming". One of the best part of the first movies is them actually changing back and forth - outside Optimus and Bumblebee (for the most part), theres not a lot of changing back and forth on screen. Sucks when they are in robot form the whole time, or change off-screen.

FWIW, I didn't really have a problem with the twins or all the crude, forced humor. I mean, it wasn't all that funny, and they tried way too hard, but it didn't kill the movie for me like it did some others

I like your thread title. I am glad I am not the only one who noticed!

My wife (who was very excited to see the film since she really found herself enjoying the first one) was super excited to see it.

We didn't view any spoilers, read any information, or check review scores prior to (we generally don't).

We had a few other friends go as well. They generally don't check reviews at all. The one friend indicated that he stopped paying attention about 90 minutes in and that it was hard to follow and uninteresting. This is a guy who graduated at the top of his class in Med School.

My wife was furious over how bad it was and well, I think you might have figured out how I feel.

Scorch --- years have passed since I've really posted in the same thread as you as much, but you are right on the money.

Jesus.

btw, did anyone who see it in from the Northern VA/DC area actually CHEERED when they saw that Air and Space Museum near Dulles Airport? My crowd went nuts.. Yet no one goes nuts when they see the pentagon or white house or capital building.

I just don't understand what people are expecting... this is basically a movie with cool fight scenes and the hottest girl alive right now... I'm shocked people are going in expecting good acting, a good story, a cohesive plot.

The first one didn't have those either.

I don't understand either, it was pretty good for what it is. I'm not sure why everyone is speaking so fondly of the original g1 series, but if you go back and watch it now, no doubt it is way worse then these movies are.
TRANSFORMERS - is racist. “These new robots … have a simian appearance, with wide faces and huge ears. One of them has a gold bucktooth. They (talk) in some sort of modern day rap-age jive, calling each other ‘bitch-ass’ or ‘punk,’ talking with an exaggerated, crunked-up ’street’ accent. They appear to be stoned all the time. And they can’t read. (They) are completely illiterate … Simply put they are offensive beyond measure.” Why stop there? Why not have them date two overweight white robots, and maybe a scene where Optimus can’t find them for the battle at noon because they’re still asleep.
Not the greatest movie in the world, on par with the first film.
Not as good as Star Trek, but much better than X-Men Origins Wolverine.
I was just glad to see that the Decepticons actually had dialogue this time around.

And Devastator (or whatever they are calling him) was awesome...especially with his "wrecking balls". :)

And as for rewatching the G1 cartoon...it's unwatchable. Most of the cartoons I grew up with are unwatchable now. He-Man, GIJoe, Thundercats...better to remember them fondly as a kid than watch them now.

The last "good movie" I saw was the Taking of Pelham 123. Maybe I was expecting something close to this.

Anyways from what we have seen, it would seem that Allspark energy causes any machine to become evil mindless killing bots. So that means the Allspark is BAD!!

Nope.

All of our technology was created based off what they learned from Megatron...therefore all technology is Decepticon, so when the Allspark brings it to life it's automatically evil.

This was mentioned in the first one ;)

Oh that's just BULLSHIT!!!

To reverse engineer something , YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT APART!!

In other words, they would have (Sector 7) to have cut open Megatron's skull and accessed his CPU. His weapons and metallic skin would have advanced the US weapons to a higher level instead of using bullets and missiles and even stronger tanks.

Instead Megatron was left frozen.

To reverse completely engineer Megatron would take decades.

Not for nothing, just because someone graduates the top of their class in Med School does not mean they are suppose to be in the know about everything. If he is not a hardcore fan, he probably would have trouble following the story. He probably has an overload of Med School and is having trouble computing simple equations. It happens.

He works full time now. Not disagreeing with your point, but I found the comment telling of the story.

I do find it interesting that you need to be a hardcore fan to follow the movie though. Also very surprised at how many new people seemed to have liked it. Different strokes, I guess.

Yeah, it feels like everyone who grew up on G1 and is familiar with G1 or in the very least the original animated movie seems to dislike this movie. It's just so much has basically been butchered or spat on from the cartoon. I Think what really grinds majority of "serious" fans is the fact Megatron willingly follows the Fallen that and Devestator is a total bitch.

Everyone else basically under the age of 18 though...

The thing that people don't understand is that this story is not a follow up or a remake to G1...it's another story...just like Beast Wars was, Cybertron, More Than Meets The Eye, and the most recent Transformers Animated...they all have different stories to tell.

Well one thing I will be thankful...they did NOT CHEAPEN Optimus Prime. Bay made sure he had Prime put up one hell of a fight before being stabbed in the back by Megatron. Optimus Hulk just came in and did the Hulk Smash on the Fallen and fucked up Megatron's face.

They didn't cheapen him? He's always been a pussy...he would never kill a bot. This Optimus Prime was a total badass...
He shot that robot with the giant wheel point blank in the face as he was down
None of the previous Optimus Primes have shown that kind of bad-assery.

Yea I noticed that Prime was a bit more brutle. Honestly I think he's just fed up by the Decepitcons killing off his friends. Perhaps more Autobots needed to die this time around..... so who died.... can't tell since the final scene was cheap.

From the Autobots, it seemed that
2/3 of Arcee were taken out....Jetfire if you count his suicide
other than that just injuries.

A Pussy? Man in the animated movie when "The Touch" was playing he basically shooting Decepticons left and right. Some may not have died, but goddamn he sure crippled them good. Plus I always believe he was going to kill Megatron and I think Revenge of the Fallen kinda made reference to the line "One shall stand, one shall fall" at the end after he destroys another Decepticon face.

I Do like how in this movie the only way to kill a Decepticon is by either blowing their face off or taking their spine out.

Putting G1 on a pedestal in comparison to the movies is ridiculous. G1 has awful characters, poor storytelling, completely stupid storylines, plot holes, inconsistencies, etc. just like the movie. Are you old guard G1 fans just relying on nostalgia or have you actually watched it recently? Because I have watched it recently (and I did grow up with it) and G1 is mostly pretty terrible.

Are the movies great? No. But all of this "G1 is better" gibberish is silly. G1 isn't even the best Transformers series or toyline (not by a long shot) so why be so protective of it?

And for the record Beast Wars is the greatest Transformers series...followed by Transformers Animated...the look may take a while to get used to but they have pretty solid stories.

Plleeeeeeeeeeeaseeez Linkin where you just as half drunk as the dude next to me who FISTED the screen at my showing??

The first one didn't even have robot battles.

Transformers:
Bumblebee vs Barricade...you see them getting ready to fight and the screen moves to Sam and Frenzy....

Transformers: The Revenge Of The Fallen:
Bumblebee rips the spine of a Decepticon

nuff' said

Most of the action happened off screen. Watch the movie again, you'll see what I mean. TF:TROTF doesn't leave the action to your imagination.

If Transformers movies were porn:

TF = Softcore
TF:TROTF = Hardcore

Linkin, ever head the expression...sometimes less is more/better?

TF had a nice build up and the decepitcons were just waiting for the right time to strike.
