Triple H
Real Name: Jean-Paul Levesque
Age: 37
Height: 6'4
Weight: 265 lbs
Hometown: Nashua, New Hampshire
Finisher: The Pedigree
Trained by: Killer Kowalski

Triple H has been Terra Ryzin the wrestling scene since 1993. He is the second Grand Slam Champion (behind his former teammate, Shawn Michaels). He has held the WWF title 5 times, the European Championship 2 times, the Intercontinental Championship 5 times, the tag team titles one times (with "Stone Cold" Steve Austin), and is the 1997 King of the Ring and 2002 Roy8al Rumble winner.

Levesque is married to Stephanie McMahon, and they have a very silver-spooned daughtyer, Aurora Rose, born July 24th, 2006.

These past few years have been bumpy for Triple H. On May 21st, 2001, he tore his left quadricep muscle. It ripped completely off the bone. He was out 8 months and made his return on January 7th, 2002. On January 7th, 2007, five years to the date of his return from his previous injury, he tore his right quadricep. He has been out since then, and will make his return at Summerslam.

I remember a time I didn't like seeing Trips getting so much of a push, but after a year of Cena and Lashley, I hope the Game gets well soon.

The full lineup for Pro Wrestling Guerrilla's "Battle Of Los Angeles 2007" Tournament has been announced, and there's some really interesting matches scattered throughout the brackets. For anyone in SoCal (which I think amounts to myself, MattYoung, and LinkinPrime, if he even posts in these threads), I highly recommend checking out the show. Show takes place 8/31, 9/1, and 9/2 in Burbank, CA.

N1 = Night One
N2 = Night Two

Bracket A
N1 - American Dragon vs. Doug Williams
N1 - Jimmy Rave vs. Matt Sydal
N1 - Roderick Strong vs. Chris Bosh
N1 - Chris Hero vs. Joey Ryan

Bracket B
N1 - Jack Evans vs. PAC
N1 - Tyler Black vs. Claudio Castagnoli
N2 - Scott Lost vs. Shingo
N2 - Human Tornado vs. CIMA

Bracket C
N2 - Nigel McGuinness vs. Rocky Romero
N2 - Davey Richards vs. Kevin Steen
N2 - Super Dragon vs. El Generico
N2 - Dragon Kid vs. Susumu Yokosuka

Winners of Brackets A, B, and C will wrestle in a three-way dance to determine the winner of the 2007 BOLA.
//edit: I forgot that memorial threads go to 1000.. I guess we can lock this until the other reaches 1000? Or do we just want this as the new one?
I'd rather this one continue then continue the other thread for another 500.

I say go on with this one. No disrespect intended, but I don't think Kronus necesarily deserves his own memorial topic.

JJSP, I've been wanting to go to a PWG show for a long time, but I have had no car in the 7 months I have been back in California. Maybe I can convince someone to go with me, but I have only 2 friends out here who like wrestling.
Go with this one, Demoman didn't even care enough to finish the AMW first post...
And it was shit anyways. What did AMW ever do to get a topic? Be in TNA?

Koko B. Ware is more deserving of a topic than those two bozos.

Summerslam (August 26)

Oh boy, let the HHHatin' begin. Apparently Trips is politiking for a return match against Booker T, proving who the King is of course. Then Orton BEATS Cena for the WWE title. This leads to The Hs vs RKO at Vengeance, the Hs getting the belt and undoubtedly Cena facing HHH at WM24 in the main event. Hmm, that's all so very original... hey didn't Orton work as transitional champ at SS once before  Anyway, I'm all for it, so long as it gets the belt off Cena. Although, I'd like to see Cena moved out of the Raw title picture alltogether, but Vince loves him, and at this point there's just no one else available.

I'm down with that plan, as long as HHH wins the match at WM and loses the title at a later date.

A Cena victory for the title would kill Wrestlemania for me.

- edit Crap, I just realized that Cena is undefeated at WM

- John Cena defeated The Big Show to win the WWE United States Championship
- John Cena defeated John "Bradshaw" Layfield to win the WWE Championship
- John Cena defeated Triple H to retain the WWE Championship
- John Cena defeated Shawn Michaels to retain the WWE Championship

Plus all his matches are for a title, THE title in 3 of the 4 cases. Lovely. Maybe he can trump Taker's streak by going 20-0, all for gold.

They're pretty good as singles, as well.

Mike23, I take it you are from Ontario, California, not Canada. Is that correct?

All this Cena build-up is a master plan for HHH to look like some sort of titan/god hybrid when he defeats Cena for the belt.

You might as well call it....

The Paul "I worked myself into rich pussy and all I got were these lousy torn quads" Levesque wrestling topic.

I say continue this topic.

It is what it is. Cena is where he is because dumb 'billies go to wrestling shows buying foam fingers, $300 spinning belts, and his dumbass t-shirts. Not because he's good Triple H fodder.

Of course, it's not always about who sells the most merchandise; after all, it's not like the WWE-branded Bobby Lashley foam cheekbones are flying off the shelves. Does Cena deserve it? I think he does, but I also don't think I like it. I've written reams about why I don't like Cena, and it ultimately boils down to this: he's a phony, a poseur. He's forced, he's prefab, he's The Spice Girls, The Pussycat Dolls, and Menudo all rolled into one.

He sells merch, so I understand why he gets pushed. Unlike a large portion of the WWE roster, though, Cena getting pushed makes sense. Other guys get buried and never have a chance to make an impact. When was the last time you cared that Sandman or Balls Mahoney were wrestling? The last time you saw a WWE match that reminded you that you love pro wrestling? The last time people feuded over something that made sense in the real world?

WWE has a lot of things going wrong for it, but, IMO, Cena is the least of their worries. At least he's a breadwinner for them.

No sir. Ontario, Canada.

Cena sells merch and live event tickets. I'm not a fan of the STF-U, which looks like it does ZERO damage to any part of the body 99% of the time he does it, but he is definitely their biggest draw, and has gotten way better than he was in '05, when he was clearly being carried to good matches by his opponents.

Here's the 7/25/07 Wrestling Observer Newsletter, covering the Benoit case, and featuring an obit of Kronus, who has such severe mental challenges that Saturn had to fill out his paperwork for him. -

As for WWE having a "match of champions" tonight, since TNA got the idea from WWE, I don't really see how WWE is copying TNA. They certainly aren't putting ALL of the brand's gold on the line in the match, so they aren't even doing what TNA did, which was kill every belt they had for the purposes of one match.

OP updated.
The Paul "I worked myself into rich pussy and all I got were these lousy torn quads" Levesque wrestling topic.
HA HA HA HA HA

No, seriously. Triple H is awesome. Rich pussy or not, the guy's awesome. I don't understand the hate.
I don't understand the hate.
Wow. Just...wow.

20 minute, rambling promos, week after week on Raw?

Him getting the best of his babyface opponent, week after week; never showing ass or cowardice like any heel in their right mind?

Him beating everybody in every feud he was in? (with a micron of exceptions, of course).

He's a fantastic wrestler, but he's no different than Jeff Jarrett was as the TNA champ. That's fresh in your mind, perhaps? Or, do you just like to be contrary for the sake of being contrary?

Triple H won and dominated every feud he was in; people hated him for the same reason they hate Cena currently. His feuds are virtually identical, he always gets the best of his opponents (and rather handily, too), and it all seems forced down your fucking throat. Triple H's closeness to the "home office" makes him an easy target, but what, really, separates Triple H from John Cena aside from that?

EDIT: Didn't see that Conan pic of Triple H. That explains that as far as I'm concerned.

Politics aside, he's one of the top 5 wrestlers in either WWE or TNA.

And Mike23, I assumed you were from down here due to the fairly close proximity of Ontario, California, to the event you questioned about.

I just hate 'Superman pushes' in general whether its Cena or Triple H or anyone else. The product is shit and like some other people I've just stopped watching the company entirely.

Superman pushes do suck indeed... but HHH's run in 02-03 was actually much worse than Cena's (IMO) because since when do HEELS get Superman pushes?

That being said... I do think he's a good worker.

I was questioning why Chris Bosh (NBA player) was wrestling. It's probably a different person, but still.

That's why I liked it. It was one of the few times the WWE did a "I am the best, you all suck, now let me prove it" push for a heel.

I hate the way they've been pushing heels lately. "I am a two-dimensional bad guy who lucked into the title by cheating and now will run until I am vanquished by the good guy"

Say what you will about Triple H, but the early 2000s feuds with Rock/Austin/Angle were some of the most memorable and entertaining things to happen. Not to mention that he actually LOST quite a bit. We also had a great IC title picture too, with guys like Jericho and Benoit on it instead of everyone gunning for the top championship then fading into obscurity. Nowadays they find the biggest guy they can feed to Cena. They should make him a shirt like the Legend Killer tour shirt, add Bobby Lashley to his list.

Triple H being on top had nothing to do with having a solid undercard; having a solid undercard created the solid undercard. Now we have Boogeymen, Jim Morrisson, fake Italians, fake Samoans, and a small number of talented wrestlers (MVP, the Hardys).
"OH HELL NAW!" - Booker rules. It's a shame he's just cannon fodder for HHH at Summerslam, but I'm enjoying the build to that match so far.
That part was awesome because he meant it.

I liked the McMahon-Helmsley era, but as Myke says this was mostly due to the quality of talent around at the time, and only a bit to do with Triple H.

Mind you that said, the man can wrestle and his mike work is pretty flawless, if he had neither I'm not sure it would matter who he was married to.

So... I've been flipping back and forth, thus far we've had Booker and the King segment... I flipped back to my GC (playing the original LoZ for some reason), then a women's tag match (back to the GC) then I watch as Hacksaw and Sandman job to Carlito and Regal, at least let Regal score the pin. Also there was a Cody segment and a Cena interview... zat it? Ouch.

Back to Cena, the push he's getting, and the matches he's winning, and the god-like way he's winning these matches are no worse than what Hogan did in the late 80s and early 90s. Gone were the days where Hogan was up against an unbeatable opponent (Andre) and would have to dig down to score the win. Nope, by then Hogan was all about getting his ass kicked from ring-bell and then miraculously coming back, no selling the opponent's finisher, hitting a big boot followed by the Leg drop and that was that.

Although, Hogan had 92034329084203 times the charisma of Cena, plus he could cut a promo like non-other. That and timing helped Hogan out a great deal, he was the perfect slice of American for the 80s and early 90s.

Thanks OP for the clips. I never saw the formation of Evolution because I didn't get TNN back then. I would rather have HHH in the "can't be beat role" because heels are so much better in that position these days. Btw, I read this off another board about Cody.....

"Cody Rhodes looks like the typical guy you start off with in the create-a-wrestler part of every wrestling game ever." LOL

Cmon Kennedy, beat that "Rainbow Warrior"!!
